July 30, 2016 Watching this, brought back fond memories of my time Commercial Fishing in Alaska. My first job, before I was lucky enough to get a Crew position on a Crab boat, was at the Processing Plants. I spent a lot of back breaking days, in the holds of boats, unloading the crabs, by hand, as you watched . Most of the boats that we unloaded, had 2 large holds....Imagine a ceiling 25 - 30 feet tall, and the area of a large room . Each filled with live Dungeness crab, and each hold taking hours to unload . Boring, and hard work !! But, I'd go back in a minute !!

Just got done eating 3 Dungies this labor day weekend. From Costco. Being born in Bremerton Wa. I have a love for seafood. Even snails. Cost is $ 8 per pound at this time cooked. 10 years ago I used to get it for 2.50 a Lb live off the Oregon coast. Put 1/2 cup of salt per gallon and used crab boil spice. Once first boil starts throw them in a wait for second boil to start then wait 15 min. Live crab or same day catch is the best. I live in central Ca. and hope the algae bloom will not suspend it again this year like last year.

Always wanted to do the crab fishing but never got the chance to old now
can't understand your comment but I would eat a Dungeness crab here in Washington St., USA rather than a "mud crab from Thailand any day of the year. right now i'm crabbing in Puget Sound 2-3 dys a wk. and having great success hauling in these guys. The Dungeness is alittle more sweeter and legs are bigger, mud crabs just have hugh-claws and the rest is skinny just like the red-rock crab we also catch(they make excellent crab cakes)

This is a really well done video. Great choice of music, excellent work with the camera, and I like the way you have the commentary in the video instead of speaking. People could learn from you. Now, I have a question. How are the crabs kept alive once they are out of the water and stacked up in the hold like I see them in the video. It is my understanding that dead crabs are not able to be sold. How long will a crab live out of the water and what do you do to keep them fresh? Thanks for a great video and my hat's off to you guys. That's a job I just couldn't do -- too cold and even though I love the ocean, I get seasick.

+D Wetick This is the fascist satanic system, the food meant for you is shipped O/S at great profit. The Food meant for them is shipped to you. Profit both ways. Ephesians 6:12 will give you a hint as to who is running this show.

@taco440517 жыл бұрын
Idea! Follow me on this..Follow the lead of container shipping. Have shipping containers that can be lowered into the hold then whole thing pulled out for market. Then replace it at the fish market with a new one, and make it so that it fits perfectly down in the hold. Eliminate all the handling and be more efficient and save all that time of picking up each crab? Just thinking out loud...

This is how fishermen must fishing. They inspect the crab if it is sick, pergnan, or too small, while most poor country just over fishing and didn't inspect that the fish is pergnan or not. IF THIS COUNTINOUSLY ON THE FISH POPULATION WILL DECREASE AND MAY SOON DISAPPEAR!
