Even tho the 1850 sound a bit clearer at high frequencies, you can notice the 1700 have a deeper smooth bass which i prefer more. Nice test!

R1855db have only sbc bt codec, Amplifier TAS 5707, Dont have subsonic filter on sub out, Sub out port - 0-100 hz, r1855db when connecting a subwoofer does not cut the signal on the woofer of the speakers themselves, 70w rms. R1700bts have sbc, aptx, aptx hd codec (aptx hd working 24 bit), Have sub sonic filter, Sub out port up to 2 khz. Amplifier TAS5805, 66w rms, 1700bts, when connecting a subwoofer, slightly unloads the woofers of the speakers themselves, thereby creating a more even frequency response and the bass controls on the speaker affect the subwoofer output port.

@@ritammukherjee3272 he means 1700bts is much better. It would been my choice as well if wasnt sold out in the places possible to buy. Went with 1280dbs as 1700DBS was sold out and not coming in stock and wanted sub out. Seems 1280dbs not 1280db, is very good alternative that can be supplemented with T5.

Seems most model are great 1280,1700,1850 i dont see bad ones to be honest, probably all about taste. I was willing to go with the 1700 but only dbs as i have possibility to upgrade sub but being sold out... yeah. 1280dbs isnt much worse its weaker W output but soundwise doesnt let you down. Some way 1280 is more balanced despite being cheaper so tons of opinions while im sitting here with my 3w Z150 XD so not much place to complain for casual use and gaming.

@@mitkoprakov1296 the 1855db is the costliest in my country among the ones you mentioned. I too liked the 1280dbs but the 1855 is 😍 wish I could just call u at my place and play some music. And yes z150 are okay for casual use. I went with the 1855 as my primary objective was getting a good speaker for my computer 😅and I'm happy with the purchase no complaints

definitely the r1700bts over the other one. much more details in the highs. at very high frequencies, it might sound harsh. I guess at this price point, that's the limit with the highs, gotta pay more for better quality drivers. Same goes with the Edifier MR4.

I have an Edifier R1900TII but they do not have the ability to connect to modern TVs today. They do not have bluetooth and coaxial and optical input. Otherwise, they are larger in size than the ones in your review, so I doubt whether the new ones will be weaker.

What I wonder is this: You play your speakers, but I hear the sound through mine ? Mine are not that great, but how can you compare sound while hearing the "test" through my speakers? Isn't the sound distorted then anyways?

So what happens in these tests are "You study difference of the tuning" not the actual quality. If A & B are his speaker and you have a & b so |> alpha = |> beta.

the R1855db are clearly better than the r1700bt. You can clearly hear that the R1855DB sound much better balanced and tuned. Above all, they don't boom in the same way as the R1700BT. The bass and treble are much more differentiated and don't sound as distorted when many instruments are playing. You can hear that really well in the song with Eminem. Clearly, the r1855db is a better match for you. therefore thumbs up for the r1855db

R1700BT(s)wins, its cheaper, has everything one really needs and sounds better, more detailed and and has more bass out of the box, while the 1850 seem to be pushed to be used with a sub, as they are clearly lacking in the bass department and sound somewhat dull.

The R1700BTs can certainly be used with a TV. You can connect it either with BT or RCA. They don't have 3.5mm input but they have a cable that is 3.5 to RCA, you can use it to connect 3.5mm devices

@debbielosee5330 everything you need will come with the speakers, the "s" at the end indicates it has a sub out port indicating you can choose to add a subwoofer to your setup if you wish too (sorry ik you posted this 3 months ago but I hope this info still helps)

Make sure all connections are tight. If the problem persists, connect them to another power outlet. Also, try to connect them with BT to rule out audio cables connections problems

Hello. I have sound card creative zXR and logitech X540. Logitech is 5.1 system but its very old and has buzzing and its breaking down. I was considering R2000 but its 350$ in my country. 1700 and 1850 are 200$. And there is used R2750 for 100$. But its 6 years old. I mostly play games and watch movies. Also listen to swing, metal and hard rock. Sometimes funk. Do you recommend 1700 1850 ? Will it be downgrade from logitech x540 or upgrade? I just dont want to get worse speakers. Thanks.

I see. So it's like 15$ extra for 1850 and should i go for it? I have heard that 1850 has bad mid sound. Do you think it has bad mids? I mean voices in movies music or in games? Or should i just go with 1850? There are also M audio BX options and presonus 3.5 and 4.5. But people say they sound flat and i should get edifier. Last question should i get R2000 or 1850 is enough? Its the same exact speaker, the S stands for sub out, it has an additional port to allow a subwoofer to be hooked up. So if thats not a feature you need then non-s is no different.

Hello, the R1280T is good but the R1700BTS is better. Bass wise they are similar but the R1700BTS is better in all other aspects.

The 1855DB is not available for North America according to Edifier. So I didn't test it. IMO, the R1700BTS remains a better value unless you need the 2 additional digital inputs that the R1850DB/R1855DB offer
