Edinburgh's Royal Mile runs From Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood House.
The Royal Mile runs alongside some ancient buildings, with some incredible history.
Join me on an early morning tour of the Royal Mile and some of its stories.

Thank you for the word, "close." That is what we would have sometimes in Chicago with apartment buildings. My uncle's building formed part of one and it was a great place for us kids to play. Think of the close in "Little Shop of Horrors." Glad they have a memorial to what witches and wiccans call "The Burning Times." Seriously? That's the way to win the mug? Okay? I guess 10 and 12. Blessings to you and your family!

Loved Edinburgh. Have only done parts of the Royal Mile as the older members of our three-generation family group couldn’t handle the distance and the incline. I was surprised to find out that my grandmother and great aunt had never been there even though they had lived less than a mile and a half from the Castle.

Gate means street in Norwegian . I love how Most old Scottish words comes from Norwegian . Like bairn as in child , in Norwegian barn. There are loads of other words , makes it easy for us to understand Scottish phrases and words, which seems to be harder to understand for English people 😊 It’s very interesting and really shows how close our countries used to be and how we influenced each other. The same with different old dishes😊

Hi Robert. When you mentioned Robert Burns, A memory came to mind of a story I've read, where a family owns a cat, and a visitor is introduced to "Robert Burns" the Tom Cat. UGH I cannot remember at the moment. I enjoyed this tour, for all the little "behind the scenes" places one can visit "off the beaten path" so to speak. That is a lot of history on the mile. And very interesting as well.
