Hi Sam and Audrey. On a good day you can't beat the hike to the top of Arthur's seat, a 60 minute walk offering 360 degree views over Edinburgh and beyond. Sturdy pair of walking shoes recommended.

Great suggestion! I sure hope we can do that next time. We've been hiking a lot more in Argentina so I hope we'd be prepared ;)

Absolutely loved this video! I spent one month in Edinburgh and visited other regions of Scotland during the weekends! What I would have also suggested Arthur's seat, Camera Obscura, the Edinburgh Dungeon, Mary king's close, Charlotte Street, Charle Street, Prince's Street, Portobello where there is a wonderful beach and also Leith, you shouldn't miss Victoria Street and you should also attend the Military tattoo , which is incredible! Another thing to do is to go near the 4 bridges, the view is amazing ! Casting my mind back, I would also mention the parliament of Edinburgh, located in front of Mary king's Close, the Museum of childhood.. For sure there is plenty of things to mention! Love Edinburgh !

Thanks for sharing my old home town. I was born and raised, just down from the Royal Mile. I played in the Castle and spent hours in the Gardens. And King’s Park. Before it was changed when Elizabeth became Queen. I live in Los Angeles now, and it’s quite a change, from ‘Auld Reekie’ as it was called then. Cleaned up nicely after they banned coal fireplaces. Thanks again, really enjoyed your Vlog.

Edinburgh really is a hell of a city. Although it gets quite crowded during festival season, I think everyone should visit the Fringe at least once in their lives. But then they should come back during the off-season too. Get a real feel of the city as it really is.

Hey guys! Nice to see that you made it to my city... but so much that you missed out on. Royal Yacht Britannia worth a trip. And while there, check out some food and drink in Leith and walk along the Shore and a walk up Water of Leith. Edinburgh has 2 more castles... Craigmiller Castle (my favourite) and Lauriston (guided tours on Sundays) Little know even to locals is Gilmerton Cove, a series of underground chambers and passages - very cool. Up Dalton Hill... but not up the Nelson Monument :-O 3rd tower is Corstorphine Tower but only open Sundays. Awesome views from top. And if there, may as well go to zoo! A trip out to South Queensferry is always worth while and you have to take a walk along the Forth Road Bridge. Got to climb Arthur Seat and Salisbury Crags... And Blackford Hill is stunning for views too. And so many more museums, galleries, parks, walks and attractions... it an awesome city that has almost too much to offer ;-) Hopefully that's me semi-planned your next trip ;-)

We visited Edinburgh last May for 12 days and we had an amazing time!! We visited Edinburgh Castle, Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth, The Royal Yacht Britannia (we got to see a taping of the Antiques Roadshow while we we were touring The Royal Yacht Britannia!), we saw the art galleries and many more sights! We also saw Holyrood Palace, but through the gates because it was closed due to the Queen staying there at the time we were there. We stayed in the Greenside part of Edinburgh in the beautiful Cairn Hotel. We even had a visit in our hotel room from their resident cat, Pancetta. All the shops and restaurants were within walking distance. We had great meals at the Lantern Room, Guiliano's and Taste of Italy for a quick bite. We can't wait to go back and visit Edinburgh. I didn't know that you could go inside the Scott monument. We'll have to go inside it on our next visit to Edinburgh.

Thanks so much for an eye opening guide to my own city - it really puts in perspective from seeing it through a traveller's eyes. I hope some time down the line you make it back for the festival. Not only is there a lot of culture/art/comedy but there is a huge burst of street food during the month of August.

All over the city centre - in some of the parks, in the squares and on the street. The Foodies festival usually takes place in August around that time too. Plus there are a lot of "pop-up" cafes and restaurants in some of vacant city buildings and in some public buildings (not normally used for food or entertainment!)

Hey, just stumbled upon this vid, well done! Best pronouncing of Edinburgh ive heard from a north American! Just some FYI to add if Scottish History is your thing! Pause the video bang on 7:40 - Audrey is walking down the Royal Mile, back to camera with her head turned back. Just over her shoulder is a little statue of a man in mid stride. That statue is just outside a church and graveyard (theres a pretty cool little museum right across the road aswell). In that graveyard, you'll find not only his tomb (his name escapes me right now but he was a poet and auther and a man Robert Burns declared as an inspiration to him) but the tomb of Adam Smith, who is the father of economics as we know it today! Not only that, but Waverley Train Station is right in the heart of town, services a regular and cheap if you go when the locals are at work. Get the Train North to Fife (where I'm from) where in Dunfermline, you find the aincent capital of the country where 7 kings of Scotland held their reign, the abbey and palace are steeped in history and where Andrew Carnegie (as in New Yorks Carnegie Hall - the worlds greatest philanthropist) was born and raised and a city he left a great deal of his wealth to - ie, the private estate he bought and closed, therefore opening it up as a public park to the people of the town for free. Also there, find St Margarets cave (its actually under a car park, I kid you not lol) and discover the connection between the forth estery crossing, Dunfermline and St Andrews (if you make a day of it, you can then get the coach from Dunfermline to St Andrews and get the 2nd half of that story but to be honest, id make a day of Dunfermline on its own, then a day doing the cave and st Andrews trip!)

Dear Mr. Samuel and Ms. Audrey: Your video is very informative and useful for those who will travel to Edinburgh, like me (I'm going to there in a few days!). Besides, it is very well done! I am Brazilian and I my English skill is not so good. But you speak so clearly that I understand everything you said. Besides, both of you are very kind. Keep on making excellent videos like this. thank you so much!

What a great video! It just makes me sad that we only have 2 nights in Edinburgh, not nearly enough time. However, the previous 8 nights will be full of fun as well. Cannot wait for September!

Just subscribed to your channel! Very detailed and helpful videos! A good candiate for a video is my country Malta. Very recommendable for Summer and culture. Keep it up :D

"new town and old town and everything in between" the train track? Joking, it's interesting to see my home from a tourist's point of view. I suppose I was tourist-y when I first got here, but I thought I had so much time so never did anything and now I've lived here so long that I can't be bothered, haha. Damn, I gotta get into the castle one day.

I’m going to go watch the newer videos but my only recommendation is to add the name of the place briefly at the start. I’m using videos along with other resources to plan my next trip to the UK :)

Thanks, that is a great suggestion Brittnie.
