Hi, I've just started with DaVinci & can't seem find the answer to one simple question, how to zoom in to a specific area of the clip I'm working on. The mouse wheel allows me to zoom in, but only straight to the center of the clip. How do you choose a different area? All other video editors I've worked with made this operation patently obvious but Davinci has me flummoxed. ;-)
@Daniel_Batal9 ай бұрын
@@steveennever9905 center wheel will zoom you in but if you put your cursor on the preview window itself, click and hold your center wheel pushing down in it and drag the preview image. It will move it around screen.

This is a great collection of some places to improve efficiency! I have one for you. Early on, you talk about how you manually sliced each screen change. If you pull in a video to your media page, right click it and there should be a "Detect Scene" option. With a couple of clicks, this will automatically detect scene changes and cut each. This saved me once when I wanted to use some b roll from a video and didn't have the original source footage. I pulled my delivered timeline into Davinci, used the detect scene function, and quickly got the clip I needed. I always forget about transition presets. Definitely a place I could spend a little time to save some time. Remember how blown away we were in the early 90s when Michael Jackson's "Black or White" music video came out and there was that part where all the portrait heads morphed into someone else? You can get something darn close tweaking the Smooth Cut transition with minimal effort. Kind of crazy to know this tech is now at our fingertips (for free!).

Great tips I can use to improve my videos. I work full time so I'm way behind on my video drops. Anyway... I especially loved the Compound Clip tip. I can see that really coming in handy for multiple projects. Many thanks. :) One thing I want to say about the Smooth Cut, is that I was first introduced to it as a means of hiding cuts where you're removing an "um' or "uh" from the shot when filming yourself. As a result, it hides the "um/uh" and it doesn't look like anything was removed. Although if you move your head or body too much during the shot, you can see some ghosting. But, that's how I used the Smooth Cut. It's pretty cool when it works seamlessly.

@Daniel_Batal Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately color correction and color grading aren't push button the same way setting an EQ or compressor isn't just "tell me the right settings". Every piece of footage is different depending on who filmed it and how. What I recommend is taking the time to learn the color page so that you can take your individual footage and color grade it so that it brings out the most of what you've captured ☮️

I use a 360 camera to shoot videos of dogs in motion at their level. I've been overlaying a grid and keyframing to keep them scaled and centered when reframed. If I could use the Planar Tracker instead of keyframing practically one frame at a time, my workload would be greatly reduced. However, when I put Tracker points on the 360 MediaIn node they also show up on the reframe node and as soon as a dog leaves that frame, it stops tracking. I've tried both KartaVR and Reframe360 with the same dismal results. I also walk around with my Insta360 X3 on a pole, and though the stabilization is terrific, there is some bobbing around that should be able to be fixed with tracking in the 360 MediaIn node. Would you please make a video about tracking in 360. Every tutorial about tracking that I've seen deals only with standard frames.
@Daniel_Batal11 ай бұрын
I don't personally film much in 360 (though I do have several 360 cameras). The trick to tracking is always have the item you're tracking in frame. That's one of those things we can't easily get around because the software can't track what it can't 'see' and the preview window is its eyes.
@TheSpeenort11 ай бұрын

@Daniel_Batal4 ай бұрын
When you say automate, do you mean automatically have every clip that you put into your project do the same thing?
@dusanbeatovic79244 ай бұрын
@@Daniel_Batal yes, or between those that I select. Basically to behave just like a transition, just that I don't need clips to overlap for couple or more frames, and that effect is fade to black of "left" clip and opposite of the "right" one. No it doesn’t. Unless you’re using a different software. DaVinci Resolve has a completely free version and a Studio version. The only difference is some of the features not available in the Free version will give you a pop-up letting you know they are paid features. It will never time you out

Came here to write the same things as @Ajvngou (and a lot of others). Homie... you are doing a great service to many. I appreciate it. I am BRAND NEW to using DR but your tutorials are helping me learn it much quicker than many of the other tutorials I have checked out. I mean, I am pretty much brand new to podcasting so... The difference between the first video I produced a few months ago, compared to my most recent is HUGE! Can't wait until I actually have this Sh*t down! Just decided that I am going to spend the next few days watching your videos and practicing your tips before my next production. So... thanks.

Hey! How's it going?! I have a big question, every time I press In to put a marker, DR inserts the marker exactly where my playhead is, but when I mark the Out, the marker is done one frame after the playhead, is there any way to correct that? I think it was working properly before and I don't know what I pressed to change it (or I just never realized it was like that since the beginning hahaha). Thanks a lot!!!
@Daniel_Batal11 ай бұрын
I’ve had that happen too. I’ll let you know if I find an answer. I thought it was the magnet pushing to the next frame but that wasn’t it
@TadeoValencia11 ай бұрын
@@Daniel_Batal Thanks for taking the time ! I asked in other two channels, Team2Films and Casey Faris, and it looks that is normal, even if it's a bit confusing, here I share the replies here : Team2Films : "It's working exactly as it should. In markers include the frame which they are on. Out markers exclude the frame they are on. Therefore, an out marker will always appear to be one frame after the frame that you had selected when you make it... because the selection includes the frame your playhead is on." Casey Faris : "Our always goes one frame after, the current frame is always to the right of the play head. So that's normal. If you hit I and O on the same frame the points will be one frame apart, and duration will be that single frame." I hope you're spending a nice weekend !!!

Hi good job. Can you make a Video about what computer for the best results with resolve. And also a laptop that will work as well. I don’t trust Mask most of the recommendations for it because most of them are paid for by the computer companies. Thank you

I recommend following the RECOMMENDED (not minimum) system requirements that Motion Array posted. The only thing it's missing is the current M1, M2, M3 chips that Apple is building now, so just insert those if you're thinkin of a Mac OS.---> motionarray.com/learn/davinci-resolve/davinci-resolve-system-requirements/

Hi Daniel! I've been wrestling with leaving filmora for DaVinci. I use the heck out of their animated stickers for infotainment. Is this something I'll miss when making the switch? Anything else I should consider?

yet another great vid. do you have any idea why some clips might fluctuate their FPS? they were all working fine a few months ago. went back to a project today and some clips are dropping to 4fps on a 59.94 project. Its very frustrating! cheers

Hmmm…. Codec issues?
@darrenelkins592311 ай бұрын
@@Daniel_Batal Hmm. Ill check that next. Ive been pulling my hair out for 4 hours. And i was bald to begin with! i copied a clip and pasted it to a new project. Optimising it worked. But all these clips were previously optimised? In november i rendered the project all okay. Now some of the clips are glitching - v odd. Im currently re-optimising all the clips in the project which should take another hour. And its 0130 in the UK! I cant say that ive seen anyone suggest that unoptimised clips might get erratic frame rates? I also tried to render it 3 times this evening and it got stuck at 9 percent each time. All very odd. If the optimisation doesnt work ill look at codecs then . Oh, it now say generating opt media 7 percent 02:30:00 to go. Oh, what a night...
@darrenelkins592311 ай бұрын
@@Daniel_Batal re-optimising changed something but didnt fix all of it. Codecs seem to be okay. i have now nudged opt and render down from HQX to SQ, but i dont think its made a difference. My davinci hangs a lot. no idea why as its a good gpu,cpu and ram. I have cache on auto. hangs more when messing with adj clips! And my choppy problem does seem to be something to do with adjustment clips. Bearing in mind i had no problems in Novemebr when i created the project, so i wonder if theres an update probelm? Although not found anyone complaining in the same way as yet. theres a youtuber called Patrick Stirling that has created his version of an adj clip. Ive used that in place of the standard one and its working better. The FPS was fluctuating between 60 and 4. now its 60 and 50 . I did get in touch with BM support, but heard nothing. Posted on the forum but its still in review. Bit miffed about all that as after watching many of your vids we've been encourged to consider buying studio. But supports seems lacking and reliant on guys like you (i suppose good for business though!) - maybe its just that we have the free version...
