I also used newsreel footage of movie premieres/award presentations, as well as featurettes from various classic film DVD's I own.
I have been working on this video since December 2014, putting odd clips in here and there when I'd buy a new DVD. Basically this video is compiled almost entirely from special features contained on the classic film DVD's I own (except for a few documentaries which I own in their entirety). So I guess the moral of the story is that I have a problem and I need help.
This video took a really, really long time to make. Aside from the fact I started this video two years ago, I had a lot of trouble actually committing to being finished with it. I think because I always wanted to try and find footage of a particular actor or actress I really loved (and being limited to only using DVD-quality footage made that incredibly difficult). There's still several people I wish I could've included but, to be honest, I am beyond OVER this video lol. I actually almost posted this back on July 1st...but then I kept tweaking it and tweaking it and tweaking it until it became what I am posting today, on the 8th of September. I know it's not my best work (and probably didn't warrant the two to three months of intensive work) but I have wanted to make a video like this for a really long time and I'm so glad I was finally able to. I really hope you guys enjoy it!
Also I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented on my "Summertime Sadness" video. I'm sorry I haven't replied yet but every single one of your comments meant so much to me. I was so overwhelmed- and still am- by the sheer amount of people who seemed to have had a connection with that video. I honestly can't thank you enough xx

Although it's quite unlikely that the creator of this video will see this comment, I just wish to say. Brava! This and the Marching On video have got to be my two favorites from this channel. Both do such a beautiful and incredible job of paying tribute to these legends of a bygone era as well as being entertaining masterpieces of editing. However, I must say that this one I find just a touch more special than the Marching On one and that's because just about anyone can make an edit out of footage from a movie, but it takes a very special kind of dedicated and clever person to make such a video solely out of archival and documentary footage. That shows true care and appreciation for these talents. Also it's a brilliant idea because it reminds us that no matter how larger than life, beautiful, heroic, dramatic, funny, and romantic these legends seemed on the screen, at the end of the day they were still regular real human beings with lives and homes and families like any of the rest of us. Again, I can't say this enough but, a wonderful job. It honestly makes me wish I could edit something as good as this. ❤

I think it is candid footage like this which shows us exactly what makes a star. Sure there's the right script, the right film, many other factors... but 'star quality' is what makes them really shine. And it is candid footage/photos which show our favourites at their most beautiful & glamorous, yet most natural and fascinating, I believe. Stunning video, made me feel nostalgic for a time which I only know through film. Beautiful as always

I agree, love the candids. What is it about Spencer Tracy? just find him chock full of charisma no wonder Hepburn adored him. Ugh Monty Clift is absolutely drop dead gorgeous....always my #1

This is extremely moving, wow! I actually cried the whole way through. It's so easy to forget that celebrities from 50+ years ago were real people who thought, felt, lived, and loved just like we do. You really brought out what beautiful human beings they all were, even with all their beautiful flaws. Wonderful job.

So far I've cried with almost every video you've made and it's always been a mixture of joy and grief and gratitude. Thank you so much for being here and doing what you do and sharing it with us. You're wonderful and your love for the old movies and talent for video making oozes out of every pixel, every breath of these tributes. I love to see that all of this once was the daily life and it was part of just being in this generation. Your videos are indeed little wonders and to me they're like truly travelling in time. For about three minutes I feel like I live there. Thank you so much, your work is an utter marvel and it means so, so much.
