Got to tell you... I really liked actually watching you go through your edit process. I'm a CLPD user, yet I edit so infrequently, I just never get fluid or comfortable. Loved that you left your own challenges of editing/software for us to see we are not the only ones that get a bit frustrated in the process also. There are many YT videos that "show people the functions/options of a drone or a software/hardware item. This is super helpful IF you have a foundation of expertise or experience. You sharing what or how you do things is and was today super helpful to me. I almost chose NOT to watch your 20 min video... Really glad I did Thanks man!

My first ever KZbin channel likes EpidemicSound. I agree that the music drives the storyline for me. Thank you for all the help you give us novices. I have settled on Adobe Premier Rush as my editor of choice...for now. Mavic Mini, Ipad 4, and a killer PC. Leaving in the scene, watching you "struggle" a little with the audio edit was a cool thing to do. It helps connect with us noobs. I will take that lesson to my channel.

I use PowerDirector for all my videos, and have the subscription plan (and Epidemic Sound). I find it incredibly flexible and powerful, once you get used to it's quirks. A couple of other nice features: You can 'pre-cut' your raw footage so you don't have to drag huge chunks of garbage footage onto your timeline. Second: use the audio beat marking to drop markers at all the beat marks (do it manually though...the automatic sucks)...makes it very easy to match transitions to the music beats. Essential in a cinematic video with dozens of short clips.

I'm glad to see that you and other people use and understand the amazing power and ease of use that Cyberlink Power director has in video editing. I've been using this program for years. It's so simple compared to other programs I've used in my career. As I'm just getting into the drone video hobby, I expect to utilize this more on a daily basis. I can see that I'm already several versions behind because of family medical problems, but my interest in creating amazing aerial videos will get me back to current versions quickly. Your videos are inspiring. Keep up the good work.

One thing with lots of videos that I watch is that the producer of the video doesn't adjust the volume of their music or the voice over and when someone watches it, it's very loud, and will have to scramble to lower it. It can be a bit annoying. Just a tip to video makers. Great video BTW. Footage and video is excellent. Thank you!

I have only ever used powerdirector for video editing and since my very first drone just arrived today I am excited to try out my first drone video edit! I think that you can avoid the music moving when you add a new video clip by adding the video clip first, then the audio (On the very first clip you add) the rest of the video clips should not move anything after that....I think LOL... Great video!

I didn’t hear you mention the Shadow Files that Power Director uses. They are lower quality videos it creates for you to work with. Then when you select “produce” it creates your 4K video from the original 4K files. This is the only program I’ve ever used. It’s awesome. I’ve made green screen videos, 3D videos, and years of 4K videos with only a $500 laptop! Thanks to shadow files.

Great tutorial, Russ. I'm pretty much past the basics of editing, but it never hurts to see a re-fresher or how other people edit. Right now, I use 2 editing programs depending on what I'm trying to do. These are Movavi and Filmora9. Both are very capable both each has a slight edge over the other in certain aspects of video editing. My subscription (yearly) to Movavi will be up soon. I'm familiar with Cyberlink from many years past. Just on what I saw in this video, I'll probably replace Movavi with this version of Cyberlink. Looks like it's improved quite a bit in the 10 years since I last tried to use it. Thanks, Russ. (Oh yeah, I've tried the most recent versions of Davinci Resolve...large learning curve, and while my current PC can handle it, it screams while doing so)

Hi Russ. Another very powerful option (both Mac and PC) is HitFilm from FXhome.com. The free version is HitFilm Express - totally free with a ton of effects available. You can edit both video and audio on the the editing timeline, and you can use compositing for a complete 3D FX clip. I’ve been using this for years. Also on iPad you can use LumaFusion from LumaTouch. It’s $20 US, and is a complete NLE with an abundance of compositing tools. LumaFusion can edit 4K video in real-time. It’s actually faster than my NLEs on my iMac Pro. I’m not affiliated with either of these pieces of software. I do some beta testing for LumaFusion.

If you drop a video on a track that already has audio in that track, it will overwrite the audio, even though there is no video in that track. You have to drop I in an area where there’s no audio in that track and then move it to the location you want it.

Hi Russ, I am very new to editing and have tried Apple's iMovie but did not find it easy or useful so will look at your suggestion - just wondering is it more adaptable to go for the say the annual subscription as getting the one off one seems to have less facilities and may not be updated regularly if ever - or am I miss interpreting it all. Hi Russ, Have been using PD now since the beginning of time. I have tried Davinci resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro and a few others but keep coming back to Power Director. The big thing is it will play 4K 60f videos as soon as you bring into program where as with others you have to re-render the clips to a lower resolution. PD does this automatically for you. The videos are not jerky when played back. Oh, if you want to get rid of those pesky sample clips, go to edit, preferences, Project and uncheck the box where it says "Automatically load sample clips....". Good site to get lots of tips is: kzbin.info, Power Director University.
