Same here. I've got a few VHS tapes that have come in and someone spliced footage between a few different players and tracking was different. Some parts are out and some perfect. I cannot fix the footage.

Heyyy please help me, I’m having a problem when I try to watch my hi8 videos on my camcorder, every thing is bugging I can’t see anything, the noise is very bad. It was working very well couple of days before, today I tried to take new videos that’s when I had theses issues.I wanted to know, in this case, should I buy a tape cleaner or just a new tape, or both of them? (Also the tape that I used came with the camcorder from EBay and it more than 10 years old) Please help it’s so important 🙏🏾 Thanks in advance

Hi, heads are dirty! Tape cleaner required. $100 + usually for a new sealed Sony one. Or get isopropyl and chamois and take the camera apart to reach the head. Be careful.

@ hello !! I just bought a mini DV head cleaner ( Sony ) for 30€ on Amazon, do you think it will work? Or do you just suggest this method? Thanks in advance

@Ghettosunshine_productiononly one way to find out if the tape cleaner is going to fix the issue, put the tape cleaner in the camcorder. Hopefully it works!

I had a call yesterday from someone who had just dug out their VHS machine from the loft and tried to play a tape. The machine ate the tape. Could I mend the machine for them? No, I don't fix machines only transfer tapes. Could I fix the tape? Yes, but only if I transfer it. They had no idea that it was a bad idea to just get the machine down from the loft, plug it in and put a tape in. Assuming that any idlers or pinch wheels hadn't turned to a sticky mush or grease to lubricate parts had not dried, the machine should be acclimatized because of the risk of moisture etc.

I get weird calls like that, you wonder if they’re alright in the head lol! And you lose your marbles trying to explain. My fave ‘can you remove the mold from my tapes I want to watch them in my vcr’ 🤦‍♂️
