In the jail, the prisoners are treated on the caste based discrimination to allocation of duties, classification of prisoners and certain groups treated as 'habitual offenders'. The Supreme Court responded to the petition written by the journalist Sukanya Shantha and analysed the controversial rules and practices in jail and ordered to revise the prison manual within three months. The Constitution prohibits caste based discrimination and untouchability because it violates the right to dignity and right against forced labour and exploitation. 6/9 Thankyou Ma'am ❤

Today's editorial- The editorial based on the caste discrimination. The noticeable aspect of the supreme court ruling banning caste discrimination which occur in the prisons. Caste based discrimination hierarchy plays a vital role in allocation of duties, classification of prisoners and the treatment of certain social groups. The prison authority did not solve the problem and get rid away from the philosophy of prison. The court had observed the controversial rules and practices in jails happening with the prisoners. The food was cooked by the suitable caste prisoners and other works likes sweeping, cleaning work by lower caste prisoners. It's shows the caste discrimination and Untouchability. Now the government respond to the verdict and revise their rules and regulations related to prison which lead to systemic discrimination among them. 😊😊

My score 8/9 Sukanya Shantha, (JOURNALIST ) had writ petition to the supreme court about the unconstitutional rules and regulations are following in many states for prisoners. As a result, the court had found caste based discrimination among the prisoners such as food cooked by the "suitable caste" and sweeping, manual scanvenging by the "scavenger class" .Now it is time for the Government to eradicate the rules which are against the constitution and to revisit the prisoner's manual.

score 7 /9 Today's editorial The most important aspect is that to end colonial practices and caste systems in prisons. The supreme court's involvement in this case is must and supreme court gave a verdict also . In jail caste based hierarchy plays a role in allocation of duties, classification of prisoners and treatment of certain social group as Habitual offenders. Prison authorities and state governments do nothing about these rules since independence and these rules are unconstitutional. In prison food is cooked by the suitable caste and those from the scavenger class being assigned task such as manual scavenging, cleaning and this violated the constitutional prohibition against untouchability. This distribution of labour can't be based on birth . State governments should respond to verdict and revise their rules and regulation related to prison administration and end this discrimination. thankuu ma'am ❤❤❤❤❤

Score-7/9 Today's article discusses about the caste- discrimination which still prevails in prisons of ur country since colonial era. Recently, the Supreme Court of India dealt with specific rules which has been described in jail manuals of various states and also observed that caste-based ranking is done inorder to allocate duties in prisons. They also remarked that prison authorities and state government has not shown any efforts to abolish such practices since Independence. Further, the court has also instructed them to revise the jail manual within three months. Though, such legal framework has been instructed but tracing the history of such practices it shows that only menial works such as sweeping, cleaning are allocated to the lower caste whereas higher caste prisoners were given liberty to carry out their "hereditary trades" inside the prison. The court even passed a verdict to eradicate the obscure definition of 'habitual offenders' as they allude towards the criminal tendency of whole tribes. Therefore, the state government must respond to the court's verdict and reanalyze all laws and regulations related to prison administration as such discrimination only creates social inequality in the society. Thank you mam for the amazing session ❤❤

as soon as the Supreme court get acknowledged about the caste discrimination faced by the prisoners through journalist Sukanya Shantha's writ petition, they came across with the controversial rules and practices inside the institution. The apex court has pronounced that these rules were similar to those which were followed during the period of colonial administrators and reminded everyone that these kind of statements were not enshrined in the Constitution. The court said that it is high time for the respective authorities and State government to revise those unlawful statements and vague definition of "habitual offenders" or the hierarchal order or birth place of prisoner, which were being used for assigning work. It was 1950 when our constitution was built and the discrimination in all forms prohibited. But it is shameful that it is still part of society and mainly in government sectors. Recently, Journalist Sukanya Shantha gave a petition to Supreme court regarding to the caste based discrimination in prison. The court has dealt with rules in jail manual, the way of allocation of duties based on caste hierarchy and treatment of group as 'Habitual offenders' . The prison authority and state government had done so little about these aspects. Tracing the history, the court noted that it is linked with colonial administration. It is noted that not only the menial work for lower caste but also the hereditary trades were expected to carry out. Such rules that food must be cooked by prisoners from a suitable class, scavenging, sweeping and cleaning by scavenger class violets the constitution prohibition against untouchability and the right of dignity. Distribution of work can't be based on birth of person in a caste. The Supreme court directed the revision of prison manuals within three months. And now it is high time for state government and prison administration that they eradicate such caste based rules.

8/9 thank you so much mam The decision of the supreme court is highly commendable and a necessary step to remove caste based discrimination system in prison. After the petition filled by journalist Sukanya shantha, the attention of the supreme court was drawn towards this. The discrimination that is happening with prisoners in jail is considered as a violation of our constitution, as it is written in the constitution that there should not be any discrimination on any basis . Hierarchy system has played a crucial role , since the colonial period. Allocation of duties on the basis of caste and certain treatment of certain groups as " Habitual offenders" is wrong . As there is not clear definition of habitual offenders , no where it is mentioned . It is responsibility of the state government to end this discrimination and ensure that there will be equality inside prison. The court has given the time period of 3 months to remove such practices and change rules of prison otherwise it will considered an indiscipline and some actions will be taken by the supreme court.

My Today's Marks- 7/9 Crux of the editorial- The Supreme Court is now engaged in ruling the caste discrimination being noticed in prisons, where the prisoners are categorized by their caste and such practices today in prisons demeans the constitutional laws. The prisons are promoting the caste based biasness where the menial tasks such as manual scavenging, sweeping and cleaning are given to lower or minor caste prisoners and tasks like cooking are being done by higher castes. The "habitual offending" and such other categorizations disrespects shows not only lacking administration of State governments and prions in terms of supporting the right to dignity, but also disrespects the constitutional laws, violating the right against forced labor that highest court now has to revive in the system. It has been noted by the Supreme Court that State Government and the prison administrations again need to give a thought on revising the laws and process within three months and not follow the colonial practices, which seems being followed there since even after independence. Answering to the petition, the court has mentioned that there should be no such man power categorization in menial or degrading tasks. Untouchability and offending any group considering them as criminal tribe are prohibited in the constitution. Any delay or non-compliance to preventing such process and not revising the laws will result in legal actions as per the court. Thank you ma'am!

The Supreme Court has ruled against caste-based discrimination in prison treatment, requiring a Supreme Court judgment to end colonial practices. The Court found that caste-based hierarchy played a role in assigning duties, classifying prisoners, and treating certain social groups as "habitual offenders." The Court analyzed the controversial rules and practices in jails, stating that colonial administrators linked caste with prison administration of labor, food, and treatment of prisoners. The Court found that menial work and supposedly polluting occupations were allocated to prisoners from communities placed lower in the caste hierarchy, while caste privileges of a few placed higher were preserved. The Court also favored eliminating vague definitions of "habitual offenders" to prevent ascribe criminal tendencies to whole tribes.

7/9 The Supreme Court had given its verdict for amendments in prison laws calling for revising prison law manuals by state governments in three months. Former laws framed according to colonial administration is encouraging prevalence of assigning menial works to prisoners from lower caste, discriminating them on the grounds of caste-sim and violating right to dignity, right to equality framed in Indian constitution. Chores like scavenging, sweeping and cleaning were assigned to lower caste besides assigning chores like cooking to high and privileged ones, some were often asked to continue their hereditary trades. The court has also favored doing away with obscure definitions of 'habitual offenders', as they ascribe criminal tendencies for the whole coterie.

5/9 The synopsis of today's editorial Supreme court had expressed grief and sought the attention of High court's engagement into the the matter of prohibiting caste based discrimination in the treatment of prisoners as discrimination is the plague of Indian constitution . In jail , prisoners were being treated on their caste based hierarchy in allocation of duties, classification of prisoners, and the treatment of certain social group as habitual offenders since colonial times . The state govt. and prison authority backdroped the constitutional objectives. The SC declared those practices unconstitutional and directed the revision of prison manuals within 3 months. Court found that not only Menial work and polluting occupation were allocated to prisoners but also some were allowed to carry out their hereditary trade . On the other hand, caste privileges of higher were preserved . The provisions that prisoners of suitable caste must cook food , manual scavenging, sweeping, cleaning by scavenger class violate the right to dignity and right against forced labour and Exploration . The court had also favoured doing away with the definition of habitual offenders as it might ascribe criminal tendencies to whole community. Thank you ma'am ❤

the most notable accept of supreme court rulling prohibitat cate based on discrimantion in teartment of prisoners. the court dealt some sepecific rule in jail manual and caste - based hearciary in their duties, this show the state goverment had done so little about the accept of contitution , since freedom they dont even understand the core of constityion ; we have to end the untachibility, this all writeen in our constituion Responding to jounerlist Sukanya Shantaa's wrte petiotion the court say there should be rivison of all prison manul within three mounth .the maneal work and polluted and some cheap work like cleaning sevage all these work allocate to lower caste and the proviction of food placed on higher caste the court had favoured doing away with vage defination if the rule donst follow by someone they shuold be punishable. thanku ,mam

Question-: 6/9 Today's Editorial-: The supreme court of india pass the judgement over the treatment of prisoners according to there caste. These caste based discrimination were created by the britishers. There is a system in prison that food should be prepared by the "superior caste" And sweeping, cleaning and other low level or menial work will be preformed by the lower caste. The supreme court address these discrimination after writ petition of journalists sukanya shantha and give a judgement for a constitutional reform in prision within 3 months. Court also says these type of treatment of prisoners in jail shows that prision missed the constitutional reforms and still follow the colonial rule system. The court also says that the 'habitual offenders' type remark shouldn't be passed on any prisioner on basis of tribe or caste.
