Today's Editorial:- Supreme court of India recently gave a statement in which it considered Section 6(A) an important provision and legal regime applicable till date, It was amended in constitution in 1971 providing citizenship to those who came b/w the period of 1966 -1971 from east Pakistan(Bangladesh) but exempted them to vote altleast a period of 10 years. Year 1971was also a time when pakistani Army conducted operation searchlight to abandon the Bangladeshi movement during which most of people migrated to India. However people raised concern regarding giving citizenship may affect their resources or employment oppotunities, in this regard justice surya kant said that there will be little affect of this on demographic culture and diversity in the region. Also govt have the right to such amendment and was same used by it in 1971. Thank u mam❤ 8/9

today's marks: 6/9 Crux of today's editorial: The Supreme Court upheld Section 6A of the Citizenship Act, which protects the rights of Assamese citizens while addressing the situation of migrants. It grants citizenship to those who arrived before January 1, 1966, and sets rules for others who came until March 25, 1971. Justice Surya Kant pointed out that changes in population shouldn't harm national unity. Overall, the ruling aims to ensure a stable citizenship process in Assam amid ongoing challenges with the National Register of Citizens.
