I'm glad I watched this. I just uploaded 5 images to Adobe Stock that had logos on them and hadn't thought to flag them as editorial. I was able to re-upload them properly, rather than waiting a few days for them to be turned down.

Me again, I really appreciate your videos, thank you. I attempted an upload to wirestock & think you have to 'upgrade to be able to submit 5 images a week or month (don't remember', that seems odd to me for them to charge for them to have more content?
@wollertz Жыл бұрын
yes! thanks for mentioning it here, I said it on another video and I am looking for an alternative, that is simply not worth it, stock is about numbers and 5 images a month is not that, even the paid pro plan only allows 100 images a month, and that is not enough

@@wollertz That makes sense to me. FYI, I don't remember if I told you I am 85 yrs young & what I am doing is putting up some of my past photography, some of which I am scanning from my transparencies, much of which are older political figure images . I don't think Adobe Stock likes them or knows what to do with them. But I do also have lots of other images to work with. We shall see. I appreciate your straight forwardness. Wish I could still kayak, our son & I built one from a kit in in the 70's. Stay well

I have a question about shooting for editorial. I have a photo of a woman looking at a sculpture and the sculpture looking back. It's a cool shot and I would like to post it on Wirestock as an editorial photo. Is this ok because it's a work of art and I might need some kind of permission? From who, who knows! Anyway, I really appreciate the job you do on all your videos they are very helpful.
@wollertz Жыл бұрын
its totally OK as an editorial, just pay attention to the description to help buyers understand what they are looking at and also the when and where.

Thanks for the very informative video! I still struggle to fully understand the editorial photos. In Plovdiv last week there was a free to attend event organized by the Indonesian embassy for popularization of their new capital. It was at the Roman Theater - a place that is usually visited with tickets and there is a fee if you want to shoot for example a wedding photoshoot there. But the place is used for many free events like this one. So that`s what happened - Alamy took the photos, Shutterstock wants press credentials (that I don't have and I`m not sure how that works in Bulgaria) and Pond5 wants a property release (that obviously there is no way to obtain). These photos are not so important for me but I want to clarify for myself if I can shoot other events at the same place.
@wollertz Жыл бұрын
Events like that are tough, I had the same Issue shooting an Iron Man triathlon in Idaho a few years ago, 8 hours of shooting and all rejected for no press pass. Most agencies are going to ask for press credentials, and each country and event have different requirements for example in the USA I use www.asmp.org/ theres usually a fee involved and the press pass lasts 1 year or 2. Im confused about pond5, editorial doesn't need a property release for the reason that it is editorial 🤔. Usually large events like this is where you can sell a lot of images If you edit and upload quickly, agencies like Alamy and iStock have a "news" category where they will prioritize the review so they can be available same day or even next day, but you do need a pas to shoot events, do a search in your country to see what pass is accepted and and requirements you need to get one. Normal everyday street photography or random things happening in public spaces don't requiere a press pass, but paid events in private places usually do
@KrasimiraStoeva Жыл бұрын
@@wollertz Thanks for the fast and informative answer! I'm not sure how you mark your pictures as Editorial on Pond5. I assumed they get editorial automatically if you don't have the needed releases. But maybe I should say that in the comment section for the reviewers. The event was free and there are pictures from other events happening at this place in stock websites. Anyway I will try different things to see what will work. Thanks again!

Great advice! Thank you!! My question for your next tutorial. Many times I have transferred photos from my laptop to my phone to send via text. Will the pixels change in the phone? should I only upload from laptop?(okay, that was 2 questions😅)
@wollertz2 жыл бұрын
Thats a great question, and yes I will talk about it at length, but the short version is its posible 😅 depending on how things are transferred. sometimes sending an email will compress an image, and so will a text, also depends on which operating system you are using, iPhone to Android can do some strange stuff 😅

Hello!! When I uploaded editorial, it said I need an identification of some sort, like I needed a proof to show that I could shoot in the particular event. Please respond, I would love to know more about editorial
@wollertz8 ай бұрын
Some agencies requiere press pases for certain events, you can look "press pass" in your country and see what options you have. Unfortunately we don't know until we try. Upload them to other agencies and see if you get the same response 🤷♂️

great series. I am thinking of uploading to generate some passive income. What would you suggest as minimum megapixel camera to use?
@wollertz2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Most agencies have a minimum of 5mp so I would suggest start with close to 20mp if you can, this gives you the ability to crop and still have enough resolution for the agencies

What about photos that are "too good" for stock? Print on demand doesnt work for me, and I am about to try book covers. Any other possible revenue streams?
@wollertz2 жыл бұрын
that is up to each individual. I don't recommend selling your best work thru stock because you don't set the price, you might get paid $3 to later see your image on a calendar cover in Walmart, and featured in throw blankets and other products for the same $3. On demand printing is tough and finding buyers is difficult also, but things change, a year from now, 3 years from know you might think about going a calendar and selling it yourself, or a photo book, prints, etc. as I said this is for each to decide. I have lots pf photos on book covers that I got paid $.038 via stock sites' sure, I get photo credit, but only $0.38 theres other websites like, Fine Art America where you set your own prices and they print and ship for you, or something like Zenfolio.com where you have you're own website and they handle printing and shipping, and a variety of products, the difference is these sites charge a month fee, so you have be active in marketing your work.
