Good argument sir but one question to you. When state governments can hold Hindu religious board to govern the property and all its affairs why can’t one government official can be added for governance of Muslim properties? Also when it comes to immovable asset there are other religion people who has issues in claim which needed involvement of court as government have no stake in providing solution to the affected parties. You can cover a story on affected people due this core issue in Trichy surrounded village.

I believe that giving MPs a seat and reclassifying already developed Waqf property directly infringes on the religious rights of Muslims. However, I support most of the bill. It's essential that we enforce a strict code against all religions in India and limit the power of every religious group, as most often misuse their religious rights. The freedom to practice one's religion should be secondary to all other rights, and every aspect of religion should be scrutinized and discouraged if it doesn't align with even one person's moral standards, regardless of their religion.

I believe that Government should interfere in religious issues. This is because we follow positive secularism of "सर्वधर्म संपन्न" which is different from negative secularism of "separate of religion and state". This clarifies that govt can interfere in religious matters of any religion. Also, even though muslims don't preach it, they still follow the evil practice of casteism in which lower caste muslims are facing atrocities by the upper caste muslims. Here, govt have to take a stand.

There are too many mafias ruling the nation. Maybe controlling at least one mafia may be a good thing. The Select Committee can come up with an acceptable Bill, maybe. Meanwhile there were many past news about Karnataka govt attempting to control waqf misuse. There were 2 committees which were appointed one after the other (one appointed by BJP govt and later a second one appointed by Congress govt)and they both reportedly said many leading persons were land grabbers. The relevant dates are 2012 and 2020, I believe and maybe you can do a check on whether anything has happened at all after 2 consecutive committees reported the same thing in Karnataka. If no reforms have come out as a result of these 2 reports which are reportedly similar and unbiased, then where do we stand as an honest state? I read about all this in Frontline magazine and in various news reports

I think these amendments are progressive. Two weaknesses are collectors having the final say. Instead the disputes can be dealt by usual courts like high courts etc non-Muslims on the board. May be a retired supreme court judge could be feasible

Waqf is a system followed by Muslims...i don't think any other religion has such a system. Hence, the board members should be from the Muslim community...having women as board member is fine, but is there a need, unless that person is a very strong administrator...qualified people should be on the board, be it male or female, but a quota for women is not necessary. Rather than an internal audit, a 3rd party audit would be better anytime, even if it is CAG. What is an MP going to bring to the board? Also, is he going to be from the ruling party or the opposition? Making the District Collector as the supremo is detrimental. This bill is brought with the thought that BJP is never going to lose power...there seems to be more politics in this bill than a good intent.

Don't grab anyone's land. That thing needs to go and at the same time. Only Mosalams should be allowed to donate that too via PAN Aadhaar verification and NO CASH NO NO DIGITAL to ensure Pakistan or any other terrorist is not funding them. @LahariMathyala There is a presumption here that the Board has illegally taken over villages...is there any proof or is it an allegation? I cannot deny that there is or may be corruption involved...the flip side is that more people may have given properties to the Waqf as well, and hence the increase. If, as you say, Waqf has taken over a village, have the people benefitted by it in any way? The Waqf is a body that maintains and manages property only...thay cannot sell it. As per laws, they are exempt from income tax but do have to pay the sales tax etc on rents. As far as I know, Waqf is available in all Islamic nations and the intent is to benefit the people. If I am giving something to the Waqf, my intention is to get a reward in the Hereafter...if the board mismanages it, they are answerable to the Almighty.

If they want to reform waqf board, first furnish credible reports and data then go for reforms. Same holds good for Hindus devasom boards. As you have rightly said, let every religion enjoy full autonomy within their four walls with Government intervention, only if they overstep that freedom and disobey the law of the land. Today, corruption has permeated every level of religious administration, across all religions. There is no remedy except for the people within to band together and make a change. Alternatively, if one finds his/her religious administration stifling, disconnect completely and follow the faith of your heart independently. No one can be denied that freedom. I really don't believe that MPs are religion-neutral, not after this past decade. Your clips of swearing-in oaths are proof enough.

Waqf board can notify ANY piece of land as waqf land and govt can do nothing about that, as per 1995 amendment. Have you not heard of an entire village near Thiruchirappalli in thamizhnadu INCLUDING A 1500 YEAR OLD SIVA TEMPLE declared as waqf property and state government could do nothing about that even though there are not many Muslims living there. Same things go for a gurudhwara in Haryana. You have overlooked that point. As usual your editorial is half baked.

Including non-Muslim is not needed. My suggestion is to list down the complete working of the waqf committee members and change/modernise those contentious issues that Muslim people are facing, I think, including qualified Muslim women and representation from other sub caste within Muslim communities in waqf board should be voluntarily encouraged and empowered to bring in transparency and accountability. The courts should be the final arbiter and not district collector.

Waqf board is not religious, it s not belong to any region, its a board not a church, or temple, its an organization. If you say strictly its for Muslims then all organization will be divided like Wipro will go to Muslims, all Ambani s will be for Hindu s, I think here you are dividing the whole India, you should first change this I guess.

I somehow find your argument extremely basic. I somehow failed to find the logic in whatever you are talking. When wagf can occupy temples and claim places of people of all religion it seems like there is an absolute power given for the reason of religious appeasement. Neither The Hindu board the Christian board or the Muslim board should be given such kind of autonomous power. The law has nothing to do with the type of worship or the practices that people are doing. It is about managing the properties. And even more is this about regulating how a property can be acquired. Do you really believe that a word of mouth can be taken for a donation? Let us say tomorrow someone is coming and claiming that I donated someone something, the only way my son or grandson will be able to understand if it is true or not is using a document. Why should this particular board be exempted of that.
