I'd been a bit negative about my bike fit as it didn't really tell me anything revolutionary, but you're quite right actually that just having the peace of mind knowing your good bike is set up absolutely optimally for you is a brilliant thing. Like your slight cleat adjustment, I had a very slight saddle position adjustment and now riding my best bike is like putting on a comfortable pair of trainers, so actually even that small change has made a huge difference, really good to appreciate. Looking forward to seeing the new bike!

Fantastic news Ed. I hope the new Bike and Partner bring you many years of joy and success 😀😀. Micro adjustments can be the final piece of the puzzle for you too. I remember getting some new running shoes a couple of years back and the right shoe was bruising my foot at the top of the big toe. Turned out to be a single piece of thread. Took that out and magic they were perfect.

Ive never had a bike fit and always done things on feel and in the mirror, i did experiment with raising the saddle slightly and found it caused my strain or pain in my hamstrings, put it back to where i had it and the pain went away with 2 or 3 rides

I had a knee pain for a month or two that i couldn’t shift with Cleat adjustments, I tried new dura ace pedals and it went away. Turns out the old shimano pedals had become worn lacked sufficient tension to keep my foot from twisting inwards and outwards on each pedal stroke. So life tip for anyone - Beware of cheap pedals

Bike fit was really interesting. Like you I’ve always ridden on feel & never felt the need for one (if it ain’t broke don’t fix it) but I would quite like one just for confirmation that my current position is OK & as optimal as it could be. Cost is the issue though.

Well done Ed , you deserve everything that is happening for you . Factor must know a good thing when they see it . After Froomes comments about disc brakes , will you be using them ?
@danalmasan
@danalmasan 2 жыл бұрын
Every sponsored athelete will use disc brakes. Even in triathlon they use disc brakes even if they never touch the brakes. And the only reason for this is because disc brakes are more expensive. it does not matter they rub, are heavy and difficult to maintain. disc brakes = more money spent by cyclists, so this is the new standard. Impossible for a sponsored athelete to say no. But they should be honest, like Froome, and say disc brakes are not for road bikes

I just wouldn't trust a bike fitter to fit me right over my own self fit that I've honed over the years. I'm not very flexible and I'm certainly a micro absorber so I just don't think they'd nail it 100%
