Nurse leaks scoring chances in many many games. He is a liability to the defense, and a 4/5 D on the Oilers defense. Bowman first job is to move Nurse before dealing with 29 contract and St.Louis offer sheets.

i don't think any team would take Nurse with that 9.25 million contract. Kane isn't going anywhere thanks to the no trade clause that he won't waive as he wants to stay in Edmonton. Oilers will just have to let Broberg and Holloway go to St Louis, which isn't the end of the world. Also: rumor is Broberg wanted out of Edmonton ( he was not happy with minutes ).

trade both Nurse and Kane if that's what it takes to keep Holloway and Broberg. Nurse is a liability more than an asset, Kane was playing injured but if healed in the off season could be used as trade bait.

What don't you understand? They're not going anywhere. They both have a no movement clause, and they are not going to waive it. In Nurse's case, as long as Mcdavid is on the team, he's not going anywhere, and no team is getting that contract

Nurse and Kane aren't going anywhere for the time being as long as Mcdavid is STILL on the team and is not WAIVING their no trade clause. If Mcdavid gets traded, then you might get your wish. So they can't trade either Nurse or Kane without their permission which, in Kane's case (and probably Nurse's) they won't get. Kane's FULL No Movement Clause converts to a 15 team list March 1st of NEXT year. He and his wife and kids just built a house here. He's getting paid. He's on a team with great cup odds. Why would he want to be traded. Nurse is in a similar situation. He's got the bag and they can't move him without his permission. Take a wild guess which two words he'll give them. I'll give you a hint. It's not "Yes Please". Oh yeah, Nurse and Connor and Leon are big friends. Do you truly want to piss off Leon and Connor by trying to move their friend out? No if they're to keep Holloway/Broberg it really comes down to Kane LTIR PLUS trading another asset(s) to make up the difference. Really Ceci is the most likely. That handles THIS year. What about next year when Leon's new contract (however much that ends up being) kicks in? Well Jeff Skinner will be gone as will Ryan, Ceci, Connor Brown, Perry, and Neal's last year of buyout will be gone so that's nearly 2 mil more. That mounts up especially if they get the CAP increase they think they'll get. Issue is the players who go must be replaced or resigned to probably less team friendly deals. We'll see. St.louis has 8 defensemen before broberg they probably need to trade one, let the players go, send back the draft picks and add a player (maybe ceci or a forward) and have doug risebrough ask parayko to waive his no move clause. Then work out the cap situation.

Not trading Parayko to get our 2nd and 3rd back as well as someone like Ceci. Just send someone like Suter or POJ down to the AHL for depth. It’s really not a problem for us and definitely not a reason to trade our best D.

It’s shocking how ignorant or plain dumb our fan base is because both Nurse and Kane have NMC’s and in Nurse’s case a contract that can’t be bought out at this stage due to how punitive it would be going forward. These two players are gone because there is no scenario for this team where Broberg is being paid more than Bouchard. It’s actually kinda ridiculous and pathetic that the fan base wants the organization to bend over for Broberg and Holloway when both are replacement level players at this stage and personally chose to jam the team up meanwhile vets are taking less to stay and the superstars are willing to take less. Let these players leave.

It’s kinda … nice for Edmonton really. Neither skater is a core skater. The team has huge cap challenges no matter what due to having 2 extremely elite forwards at the ages they’re at along with Bouchard and nurse. Now Edmonton can let offer sheet guys walk and have a ton of cap flexibility, pick one or the other and manage, or somehow force the situation to retain both. Until something like this happened they were up against it. Now they have a chance at freedom.

Leon Draisaitl is 13,5 M it is +5 M next year and if Evan Bouchard gets 9,5 that is +5,6 so total of 10,6 M for next year.

Nobody is taking nurse, dream on and Kane wants to stay so he stays. I feel bad for oilers fans. You guys can't see the forest through the trees, last seasons fluke run was the one and only shot at a cup. This year is the beginning off the end with the window slamming once the hack who owes #97 his entire contract Bouchard gets paid. Oilers fans have become dillusional and bought into the fake hype created to get eyes on McDavid to goose the ratings. The truth is the oilers are an injury to #97 away from mediocre and that's assuming Skinner won't suck. They have nothing coming up to balance the fact that 4 players will eat up half the cap which is huge. Looking at a team like Vancouver, already deeper not only has 2.5 million in cap left but several prospects ready, or ready soon to make the jump. The oilers will finish 3rd or 4th in the Pacific and look forward to reading the comments throughout the year.

Far from an Oilers fan here. I think this is the start of the decline of the Oilers. In fairness to them, I think they still have a less likely shot this year. After next summer, their odds shoot way down, even if they resign Draisaitl.

The Flames are going to be a mess for about a decade. The Oilers, if they make some good decisions, which is doubtful, could be back to being strong before the Flames. I’d rather be in Edmonton’s position than Calgary’s.

Soilers will unfortunately be in serious contention for at least the next year or two. They've finally figured out the defensive aspect of their game that they've been sorely missing. Once Ekholm gets winded, douchard will begin to routinely get exposed. This is when the soilers fall off begins. Following shortly will be the decline of Hyman and Nuge. Once Mcdavid has no good wingers the soilers go back to being the laughing stock of the NHL. I agree with conservativecatholic, next year is EDM's best and only shot at a championship with Mcdavid. I cannot fathom how a team can go out and win more after that with four players tying up nearly half the cap. But they have a DAMN good chance next year, as every other team in the west (save for maybe Utah and NSH) got worse.

Look, we have 2 young players that are putting themselves ahead of the team. Why would we want to keep them? I would be spending my week investigating whether or not there is a market for them. If there is, sign them and then trade there butts to a bottom feeder for some serviceable vets. Let their ungrateful butts play out their careers in that situation instead of playing for a perpetual cup contender. If you cater to there wishes it only bodes for more rebellion like that down the road.
