If the Oil match STL offer for Broberg then I believe we’ll be better on defence. Knoblauch may of had a say on Emberson. Thank you STL for making Edmonton better lol when Kane is about set to return the Oil can deal with that problem later, who knows, there may be more injuries by that time.

If they keep Broberg and don't bring Holloway back the 3rd round pick they used for Ceci gets replaced. They have a replacement player in Podkolzin plus others in the wings in the Bake. Not matching Holloway they also DON'T have to send a guy down. The Kane to LTIR covers it.

I thought that Podkolzhin was coming in as a replacement to Holloway at first too. After the Ceci trade I'm more inclined to believe that he gets put on waivers and has his whole salary buried in the A. It looks more like both sheets will be matched.

The only thing about all of this is no matter how good the player or potential. I dont like any team keeping a player who is actively TRYING to get away from the team that has them. Broberg CLEARLY does NOT want to be an Oiler. So say goodbye! Move on we can and WILL win without him...

Broberg really just wants the team to commit to his skills, and give him the time most other top 8 picks have earned by now. Podkolzin was drafted in the same draft and has a handful more games. Top 4 off hand Right D don't come along very often.

Ceci was solid in game 7’s overall he was not that bad, the too six is solved for now just depends on the depth who stays who goes to stay cap compliant. The lineup hopefully is this opening night Hopkins Mcdavid Hyman Skinner Draisaitl Arvidsson Holloway Henrique Brown Janmark Ryan Perry/Podkolzin Savoie Ekholm Bouchard Nurse Emberson Kulak Broberg/Stetcher Skinner Picard Lord willing this holds us till trade deadline to get a better Right hand D maybe long shot John Marino or Adam Larsson Or even a longer shot Two way trade for either Ryan Ellis or Erik Cernak long shots but damn that would put us over

I don't see the Oilers having Broberg on the third pair under Coffey. I'd assume he gets guaranteed minutes in the top four as he did in playoffs, and the bench assesses from there.

Podz was drafted 10th, Hoglander was drafted 40th? And had 24 goals all at evens and 39 points total. Podz was put next to Lindholm and Garland along with pp time and had two points in 19 games. His icetime dropped because despite trying his best, he wasnt effective at all. Tochett is more than fair with ice time, age doesnt matter.

Well, if you're a top ten pick and you're getting 10 minutes a night at 23, either the coach isn't the right fit, or a fourth round pick cost for another team is worth a shot. If he fails he? Well, at least Jackson didn't sit on his hands like Holland did for the better part of five years.

They'd be better off not matching either in my opinion, tough spot to be in when you need to resign McDavid and Draisaitl and are up against the cap. I don't think it's wise to let other teams dictate the terms of your contracts. Either way they needed to clear cap space regardless of whether or not they match the offer sheets and looks like they were able to which is a win.

McDavid/Draisaitl are both paid for in large part by cap increases, add in the 3.225 of dead cap coming off for Brown before next year, we'll be in fine shape so long as we don't have drama with Bouchard, and the Oilers ship out Kane.

You do realize one of the potential waivers needed to clear is Emerson. So Emerson is not better than Ceci. It’s very likely because he already been through waivers. And Ceci, if he plays better, can be traded at trade deadline for a positive asset. 50% retained.

You do realize the value of clearing complete cap, while getting an asset back, after everyone said it would take a first or second to move Ceci? And just because you might potentially be placed on waivers it doesn't mean you will be. What of Josh Brown?

Ceci was Crucial in game 7's, scored in game 7 against Canucks and and assisted on only game 7 goal against Florida. For a player who has only 30 games under his belt, will be play in a game 7 let alone get any points.

I can't predict the future, nor can you. But what I can tell you is the reports are good on Emberson, and we all know you can't lean on a couple playoff successes as an indicator of the player as a whole

@@DolynnyTV Shut-down D Man of the year, Eastern Conference AHL (on a team coached by Knoblauch so he's a known commodity). Played 18+ minutes a night in San Jose and was -4 over his games there (30 as mentioned). To be only -4 and still play 18+ minutes a night in San Jose... He'll be just fine.

Ceci began as a top pairing Dman for the Oilers alongside Nurse. Then progressively continued to get exposed for defensive lapses and ultimately moved to the third pair by the end of his time here. Biggest thing to remember is that it was a cap dump, where the Oilers got a good player back.
