Thank you for this video, I had just stumbled across one and wondering if it was real. I have the photos and it looks to pass except one of the crowns is completely smooth with no raised logo?

Tough to say then. Everything else checks out? Then it could be just a replacement crown 🤔 is it from a larger dealer or Just eBay? Could still be a Leap of faith at the end of the day. Thank you for the comment!

@@TiMEworn hobby for me, yes, took me a while to get the back off. There is a crescent shape mark to line up with the crown, then pop! Worth it, as inside was a cool picture of a dive helmet!

@keithmclean3627 very cool! I am not confident enough to actually work on the watches. I just open them up to take pictures 😄 the Dive helmet inside your Hydrostar is probably the logo of Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA), matking it as a true Super Compressor case!

True! I've seen fake Geoscopes with even shorter seconds hands. It was deceivingly close to the original length on the one in the video (good eye!) though.

There are so many fakes on eBay if that's the case !!! Most have the same Crown and Back logo as your friends.

Great video. The fit and finish of that watch is not even in the same universe as an authentic Edox. The way it has worn also shows the total lack of quality in both materials and finish. It has worn like a very cheap watch. The colors on the outer wheels aren’t even close, as you’ve shown. It screams $100 watch. Thank you for making this. Cheers

Thanks! Once you know a few signs, the whole facade comes crashing down with this watch. Even more so if you handled one, the fake (and especially its inner bezel) just looks and feels cheap, as you mentioned! Still it can be deceptive and I think the worst part is that it just doesn't work like the original (wrong speed of revolution of the world map). Luckily, my friend was able to return the watch in the end, as the evidence was so obvious! Appreciate your comment! Cheers!

Oh good! As that was my next question. Hoping that reputable dealer mentioned did the right thing! Another great example of why we deal with the best sources, whenever possible. Yes that lack of true 24 hour function was really the clincher! Simply no arguing with that. Very well done.
