Ed, thanks for reviewing this affordable GoPro alternative. Before I went full GoPro last year, I bought a little Nexgadget (basically the same company as Eken) Action camera to see if the action cam thing was something I wanted to do. While it had its limitations, it was a great and dependable little camera and got me comfortably into the action cam genre. And now I don't go anywhere without my Hero 5 Black.

hi Ed , my new h6s ,records 5 min after 5 min till the sandisc 32 gb card is full, can i change this in the settings ? also @ filming today sunny , it was way to dark i set the exposer from -2.0 to 0 it was better ( peugeot 208 clip ),thanks and hi from belgium josh (btw dose airsoft clips are filmed whit a normal camera )

Hi unfortunately it records in those chunks because the file size is limited to 3.5gb or so before it has to start another file. GoPros do this too.

This looks like a better version of the action cam I bought recently (from 7dayshop) - no image stabilization but otherwise similar quality. It also had an identical looking remote which has no on off switch and ate a battery in 24 hours or less - twice (not bothered with it since). Having said that it was only £45 ( about $63) and I am reasonably happy with the image quality - for the price.

Ed does the PAL video format pose problems for those of us who have never tried to edit, watch and upload anything but the NTSC format. Will I be able to mingle / edit this footage with Mavic Pro footage shot in the NTSC format? If this is a totally dumb question ....SORRY!

gilream it shouldn’t be an issue, especially if you use 30 frames per second in the action cam. I used NTSC for my two other cameras that I used in this video, so the PAL EKEN camera had no problems nestling in with that footage.

Nicely done review and cool video. I’m a fan of your channel and content but not always someone who comments. This video for sure piqued my interest after my recent GoPro experience. I’m a little ticked off with GoPro right now after my Hero 5 screen quit working very shortly after a software update correlating with release of the Hero 6. I had a very interesting conversation with a nice out sourced GoPro customer service representative who went back and forth between me and his supervisor. I almost felt like I was negotiating a car sale. I was notified several times during the conversation that I was out of warranty by 28 days. The reason I had called GoPro was to find out how to get the screen working again as I was in a remote location trying to do some nite lapse photography. After a bit of research I discovered I was not alone with the “Hero 5 and a dead screen needing replacement” scenario.

Ken Foss it will, but doesn't auto start recording or stop No Eken cam has this facility To use as a dashcam, turn looping on, and manually start stop Max resolution 1080 for dashcam use
