Sounds way more realistic than the then-acclaimed Korg M1, I'm genuinely surprised!

Hey thanks for the review. We got an offer for the EMT-1 for our band and your footage allowed us to make a decision.

I bought this because Keyboard magazine touted the piano sound. It was good at the time but at this time piano modules were evolving quickly so better units surpassed it quickly. And the unit was a "Rompler". Which means you can only play the sounds stored in ROM. You cannot program this unit. Later got the Emu Proformance 1/2 rack piano module (also a Rompler) which became my main piano sound. But the EMT-10 had a GREAT nylon string guitar sound (within a limited sample range). I could program great strums/chords on my Atari Hybrid Arts MIDI sequencer. The late 80's/early 90's was an exciting time (but also expensive) as tech was evolving so quickly on all fronts.

Fast and slow change the amp envelope for the sounds, maybe not a huge difference for most sounds, but for example for the string sounds it switches betweem a mellotron style near instant attack to a more 80s synth pad slow fade in. I bought one of these for around $20 many years ago, love the samples on it but it's kinda annoying that it seems to play too loud internally that some of the sounds clip, especially when you have both bright and fast attack on at the same time. The sounds clip regardless of output volume when that happens.

I wasnt actually being serious... it's kinda cool after seeing yamaha's progression from fm, probably rare now, please forgive me, I'm pissed to notice that everyone's eliminating the market for these kinds of things now, some are disappearing from ebay.

Haha. No worries, that would be an evil genius move. I'm pretty luck i acquired most of my synth before people noticed their charms. Got some real steals

Hey man, thank you for the introduction to this module. I've purchased one. I am interested in controlling the sounds via "midi" so want channel 2 in my DAW to sound like the "string bass." What do I need to send to the unit so that it plays upright bass in my channel 2 and nothing else? Thanks!!!!
@TallismanRogue
@TallismanRogue 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Manny. I would guess if I understand correctly that all you need to do is send the note data and set it on the appropriate channel, possibly with a patch cc change if you're not controlling that manyally. It's probably best to read the manual to get the settings straight but that should be available online. I'm sorry I can't be more help

Do I need a MIDI cabel to connect it to my e-piano?
@TallismanRogue
@TallismanRogue 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you will also need stereo aux cables to either put it into the line in of your piano (if it has one) or out to an amplifier

I just started looking into sound modules like this. One advantage, to me, is to avoid risk of software DAW crashing onstage. I would have thought there would have been a big selection out there of sound modules for just this reason, but I am not finding that to be the case. So, these days (April 2019), sound modules are all vsti's in DAWs?
@TallismanRogue
@TallismanRogue 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure. I know Roland do the Integra-7 which is a fantastic source of sounds of all typed and a lot of synth manufactures to desktop module versions of theit specific synths but you're right, other than the integra none really spring to mind for pianos etc...

@@TallismanRogue You're teaching me, here - I watched a YT about the Roland Integra 7 - that is the beast of sound modules of the ones I've seen so far... Save my pennies for one.
@TallismanRogue

@@boldcautionproductions9203 they are lovely. If you want an intermediary, the jv-1010 (more basic) and jv-1080 are basically the 1999 versions of the integra. you can pick up the jv-1010 on ebay for less than £200 these days. I kinda want to get one. The only disadvantage is it's pre-usb era i believe

@@TallismanRogue I do like the JV1010 and its my first sound generator that I bought, specifically to load the patchman sysex files for my wind controller(Yamaha WX11) I upgraded to the Yamaha VL70m, but I do find myself still using the JV1010 for the funky sound of the synthwave, and the VL70m (Patchman Turbo-chip) for the pure sound of the saxophone.

TallismanRogue I have this module it has a RCA output that has to go to an amplifier.I have a Behringer 15w and. Roland 10w monitor.
@TallismanRogue
@TallismanRogue 6 жыл бұрын
Jack sorry, I'm not sure i understand the application question. All you would need to connect to an amp is an rca to jack cable. The roland might already have an rca line in depending on the model
@TallismanRogue

Ah! If you mean amplification i just put it in my mixer and use monitors. For this recording in particular i put it through a kaoss pad and lined the headphone out to my computer input. Basic but does the job

Sick as f*** Dawg "AWM" me and my dad are currently buying all of these models because it's a dying remnant of dead technology.. Can I buy this synth from you for $200 were rich me and my dad, and we want to hoard all the remnants of life before 2008 so that the miserable mushy people who used to enjoy music cannot afford to buy cheap pieces of plastic that get taken out of music shops because there so obsolete... We want to sell each of them for $12,000 each after we suck the life out of people who don't have girlfriends.

hmm....i heard that pianos on this module would be great but aren't !!!! They don't sound wow to me , i was expecting more also i was try to hear that wooden sound on higher notes, but no. Anyway for the money of 55 euro its OK.
@TallismanRogue
@TallismanRogue 6 жыл бұрын
Andreas Christodoulou ah yeah, the pianos are nothing by todays standards but if you just need to riffing with very little dynamics they're very consistent and the price to still worth it for the other sounds

I bought an EMT 10 when they first came out. For it's time it was an amazingly cheap acoustic piano sound. I think the AKAI S 900 sampler, or the Korg Dss 1 was the standard at the time for a decent piano sound.
