This is going to be great example of what Greg had been saying in his vlog. Hiring a wrong person to do the job and having have to pay a lot more to fix it. It’s better to ask for a right person even if you have to pay more, you end up paying less.

Yes but those with the kind of money to make these kinds of water features happen need to be convinced on the project. Clearly the first company delivered and the next one didn't but also convinced Shag to go forward with the project. How the hell is Shaq supposed to know who the right person is without spending money?
@El.Sasquatcho69 Жыл бұрын
@@owenspalding971 Research man with that kind of money that should be easy. This was built after the initial water feature though I think right. Just saying aquascape crews have multiple KZbin channels showing off their professional and artistic builds. Even going back years later to show how well they work.

I lived and worked on farms many decades ago. I've seen a couple times where a farmer dug a pond that wouldn't hold water so they turned a passel of hogs in to the lot and let them wallow. One of them had a water tight pond in about 6 months. I think it took the other guy a couple years - but it worked for both in the end. This was in the Ohio river valley. Might not work as well in soils with less clay.
@MrWaterbugdesign Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree. But this particular location being a residential area is really more of a landscaping element than a farm pond. I assume the owner was sold on the idea of a mud bottom pond but not all the downsides of that such as muddy water. Plus mud bottom pond almost never (close to never) will be as full as needed to get a look a residential owner will want. Mud bottom farm type ponds are much better in much bigger sizes, like acre and bigger. Liner provides for many more options.
@Thailerr Жыл бұрын
Is this because the hogs just pack the soil down so tight?
@DwayneShaw1 Жыл бұрын
@@Thailerr - yeah - pigs can't sweat,, so they like to wallow in mud to keep cool.. Not something for residential koi ponds, but I thought I'd mention it in case someone dug a rural pond that wasn't holding water and clicked on this video looking for a solution - that doesn't involve massive liners. (You can put up a temporary electric fence to create a lot around a pond) Pigs are generally sold at around 40lbs -- or 220lbs - for two types of hog operations. Farmers that breed pigs generally raise them to around 40lbs and sell them. They are bought by other operations with feed lots that raise them to 220 slaughter weight.. so If your not a pig farmer you could still fence off a lot, buy a dozen or two 40lb'ers - feed them to 220 and sell them. Repeat until you get a water tight bottom.
@DwayneShaw1 Жыл бұрын
@@Thailerr - Or if you have a hog farmer in the neighborhood,, you might be able to offer him a free lot to keep some pigs --let him take care of the feeding.

I've built private lake's It's gotta be drained deep tarped refilled with well water and re introduced with plants fish and more plants... the base needs a bolder depth That offers directions for draining. That will not cause surrounding sink or sliding of the over all land in the surrounding area.... for lakes you need big rock's property to withstand and maintain a new natural lake... I'm not knocking the work Just game scout's potential 😎

A lot of time it’s added as “insurance” for liner protection possibly protecting against something underneath poking a hole in the liner. Definitely used with rocky conditions but often used no matter what just to be safe
