I was BRUTALLY beaten over and OVER again as a little boy by my father and for many years after. After those beatings I would be in my room all welted up, bleeding and crying. I would listen to America on the radio and these songs took me away in my mind to a place where there was no more pain. I am so very thankful for this video. Watching this brought me to tears thinking back to those very hard times in my life, and it is healing at the same time. I have since learned how to play some of these songs on guitar and it makes me somehow claim them for their comfort that they brought me then and now. Once again THANK YOU for this video. I cannot tell you what it means to me.

I wouldnt say "underrated". Back in the 70s/early 80s they were extremely popular and got a ton of radio play. The fact that they are still touring tells me that they have a nice sized fan base. Not everyone has the taste for this style music (soft rock, I will call it), and those of us that do enjoy this music do not necessarily enjoy the so called "music" of today. I truly have been blessed to be able to experience the music of the 70's/early 80s as it happened.

I’m an 80s kid and a genXer but since i was born in the early 70s i caught just enough of the 70s to love both 70s and 80s music i’ve always loved america and have always had a bit of a crush on gerry 😍 most of their music takes me back to my 70s childhood there’s something so wistfully sad about ventura highway and sister goldenhair surprise that puts a lump in my throat - the early 70s music was the singer/songwriter era and much of the pop music was very much of a simpler time and place

Not making this up 1975 Madison Wi Dane Cnty Coliseum. I am in 8th grade with my first date eve Carol B. Well my old man failed to come pick us up after the end of show remember there were no cell phones back then So here we are both are shivering and cold wet since it was pouring rain Since we were not allowed back in the venue waiting for a ride that is not coming, and then here come the 3 boys of AMERICA. Not sure which one which one asked us (but all 3 stopped) why we were out in the rain told them why we were out in the rain they direct (order) the 2nd limo to take us to the nearby hotel and make sure we get home safe which we did . Never forget it thanks guys

Pure Prairie League, Dan Seals and Dash Croft. , Poco and America are all musical groups that stand the true test of time. Amazing voices, lyrics and melodies of each band. I enjoy each of these groups..I am a 70's era highschool student and genuinely love most of the good songs from late 60's and 70's era. Brandy by Looking Glass was a cool song even though you do not hear much of them now.Sister Golden Hair by America and A Horse 🐎 by No Name are two of America's most excellent 👌 songs. I enjoy most all their songs.

@@harveydoherty6995 I don't listen to ANY music made after like the late 90s. IMHO, pop music experienced its pinacle in the 70s. I also happen to be a big fan of America.
