It doesnt show the deck reveal, but once you know the illusion, the deck reveal is not needed to be shown on video
@dixonyamada69694 жыл бұрын
@@aleksilaine2758 i know u commented 2 years ago but my guess is that he's pulling back a piece of black cloth that reveals the cards. The illusion is that he's just making cards appear out of nowhere, and the shadow of his fingers give the illusion that his hand is hovering over the cards, but I believe his hand is just angled upwards and with the lighting it casts a shadow over the cards while his palm drags a piece of black cloth to reveal the cards.
@TheSilverCube866 жыл бұрын
the pad where he put the card face down is warm or hot thats why he always put it face down to fully vanish the ink and some of the part of the pad is cold so he can reveal back the card. Here some link to it kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4i3kmNnrc2AmJI of proof how the ink works. And I think he use the vanishing ink to cards or a custom print cards.

You see I'm not really a fan of conventional card magic or coin magic, it's sort of the escape magic of today's era, although I understand why veterans still like it. I think a lot of stage magic has lost its touch as well, people like David Copperfield etc, those types of massive stage illusions got ruined by the Masked Magician and everyone else who followed him. If anything it's gave magic a big nudge and made people step up, and it's because of that we have guys like Shin Lim or Kostya Kimlat who really push the boundaries of slight of hand and keep magic relevant in modern times, even when we have the ability to now analyse a routine in detail over and over.

Damn you Shin Lim,cut the crap and start to do real magic,not that stage/forced perspective/trash behind table stuff.Do you want to go one day and be remembered as a greatest close up guy or as greatest gaff AB-user...
@classicmail82396 жыл бұрын
I actually really like his presentation, I think it gives you a greater appreciation for his sleight of hand, as he's not explaining what he's going to do, he just does it. I prefer it to the sort of "pick a card any card" type vocal tricks and I really like all the vanishes and colour changing he does. With the music it really feels magical and I think in a day and age where a lot of card moves are common knowledge it's actually a benefit to be able to leave people where they can't ask questions. I think if the magician has to explain to you as well as show you what he's doing, then it's more psychological and less magical, which I really love because I want to be left dumbfounded.

At the beginning when you see the aces and then the picture cards appear. You never see the backs of the picture cards. The backs are the same colour as the table. When the Aces disappear, he is using magnetic cards. But you have to give credit for his sleight of hand.

Is it a full deck? Something looks odd with the thickness of the deck. I saw the deck switch but apart from that, the moves looked flawless, almost like camera trickery. Dynamo did this too. Do you like Dynamo? I can't stand him. I think he is way, way too reliant on stooges, camera trickery and setup. I don't find anything original about him. I don't find his illusions particularly good. The thing that really, really annoys me are people making comments like, and I am quoting here, "Is he the next step in our evolution?". No, you fool, it's a trick. I have only found your videos yesterday and I already like you far better than him. I like your interest in the technicality of the trick but, unlike me, you can actually do them.

I believe it is a special deck, half of each card is red and blue on the back, and with the number and white in the front. So he always show them the same way and only shows half of each card when showing the deck. Of course this requires lots of practice!
@loconoia6 жыл бұрын
he said it well, it's a differant performance (stage performance) Black table with different angle camera's and only 1 or 2 people around him, mostly actors or crewmembers. It's still very impressive for us normal people but offcourse we all know it's still slight of hand. He doesn't break him, on the contrary he respects his hard work and great performance. Keep it up Shin!
@davidmdyer8387 жыл бұрын
A lot of people say he doesn't do close up, but he does another routine on Penn and Teller with audience members sitting at the table, so I don't think it's a trick table and I don't think he's dropping cards at his feet. He seems to manage a mercury fold and doing stuff with his sleeves, but sometimes he misdirects like he's palming and then shows his palm, so something else happens. In the other routine he makes a marker disappear and P&T can't even figure out how he does that. Not a magician but he performs with people at his elbows and gets closeup awards so it seems like closeup to me.

@KennyVee7 жыл бұрын
Wow. I mean...I *may* have caught one of the dozens of moves that he did. And I could be wrong about that. You've mentioned in reply to me before that you're familiar with the kind of smoke effects used (with which I am not familiar, so it still blows me away). But, like, I compared this in my head to the Will Tsai coin matrix that was the first reaction I watched from you. And while I'm only maybe 70% sure I know how that was done, at least I was able to think of a way to do it. At first I thought that Shin Lim's trick used at least one of the same techniques I had in mind for Will Tsai, but by the end of the performance I knew that couldn't be the case. This performance? I'm am absolutely 0% sure that I know how it was done. This is the kind of magic that I love -- and hate. I love it because it genuinely fools me. I also hate it because I can't think of a single method with which to pull it off. But obviously, the love of feeling that wonder that I so rarely feel these days far outweighs my disdain at not being able to figure it out. I went to the Magic Castle in Hollywood once, and much of the audience was magicians. And if you can't fool a fellow magician, you probably won't be performing there. You called Shin Lim "high-level," and while I can't argue that, I'd go as far as "next-level" or even "unprecedented-level" for him. I was truly astounded. Beats the heck out of David Blaine trying to catch a bullet in his mouth (whether he succeeds or fails).

He didn't drop nor grabbed a new deck. I believe he used the cooler trick. Place the cooler on the bottom and when he hand comes over the deck he flips the deck the with other hand. Notice how he also holds the cards on his right hand. You can tell he's cupping the bottom so the cards won't slip out. Look up "cooler deck switch" to know what I'm saying.

My guess for SOME parts of it: Since he does not do this "close up" he has a reason ^^ I'd guess he uses the super absorbant cloth and he has the first deck of cards on top of the table but hidden underneath a cloth of the same fabric.With this super absorbant cloth you have NO reflections you cannot see if there is a pile on the table or not. It always looks flat. When he fans out the deck he "just" fans them out and keeps the covering cloth in his hands to discard it later. The same might be used when he turns 1 card into 3 because it does not look like a back to back number - this really seems to be a single card he starts with. As an alternative one of the cards could be coated with the same material which would be easier, I guess, than a cloth.
