Precisely. Your reflection of the world is a reflection of who you are. Says a lot about our leaders in the West. Our leaders a children of the Golden Age of the West, growing up with the world looking up to them. Despite everything they’ve done, many of our leaders have gone unpunished for their crimes. If children who are never punished become spoiled brats and selfish adults, I wonder what that would make grown adults who’ve never been punished for decades.

JM’s is unapologetic imperialist and US empire cheerleader. His views in regard to China are narrow-minded, hubristic and delusional. No amount of smearing, interference and provocation by the US could stop China’s advance and development. This is not the 19th or 20th century, US hegemony is going down. The US would continue to be an influential country, but so will other rising countries, chiefly China, Russia and India. The US empire would be wise to accept the reality of the multi-polar world order, adapt and adjust. Taiwan is part of China. Get out! It’s none of your f****** business.

Realism is such a self fulfilling prophecy. The same way that China did everything it could to not only learn from the West, but to also safeguard itself from what it saw happen to other nations including the USSR and the Middle East. The US would benefit a lot from learning from China. We do not have all the answers. Realism will end this world, 4.5 billion years of evolution gone, and we only have about less than a billion years left before it expands to a Giant Red Sun. God knows how many million years or if ever if intelligent civilizations will resurface if we blow up this whole world.

A country "roaming" is a serious policy. It should be investigated carefully and based on historical study and facts and not based on so called IR theories. For example, North Korea is a small and poor country, by no means a regional hegemon yet it has sent 10 000 troops to Kursk in Russia. This must be seriously studied. Cuba likewise also sent thousands of troops to Angola and Ethiopia in 1970s. Portugal, a small country on the edge of Iberian peninsula sent naval missions all over the globe since 1400s. America since 1820s had anti slavery naval squadrons off coast of Africa. There is no connection between a regional hegemon and roaming. If a country feels that it wants to roam, it will roam. Nothing can stop it. Being a regional hegemon or not is completely irrelevant to roaming. Mearsheimer is wrong, he is not correct. He is wrong.
@BritishBungler9 күн бұрын

The argument that China should not be allowed to dominate South East Asia is based on the assumption that that China wants to dominate South East Asia the same way as America dominates other countries using military force. This may be an incorrect assumption. China’s dominance rests on trade, business, economics and technology selling to south east Asia products the Asians wants at low prices. China has not invaded a single country in the last 40 years and the conflicts in the South China Sea is a reaction at being encircled by American bases in South Korea, Japan, Phillipines and Guam. America can re-industriallise but the the south East Asian market is unlikely to buy American products because it will be too expensive. Countries in the West , Europe, Australia and New Zealand will be the best markets for products from a re industrialised America. I can’t see the people in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Pakistan and the central Asian republics with a much lower per capita income able to afford American made products. The people of China will buy their own locally made products.

Again the totally wrong understanding about what Mearsheimer says about China. Mearsheimer is NOT making a judgement of value about what the US should do or not Mearsheimer is saying that the US wants to be the hegemon, according to the realist point of view. He doesn't ever say US deserves, or should, etc. He is saying that's the US plan Then he says what the US should do for that plan to work. Mearsheimer gives lots of talks in China and says the Chinese understand him more than westerners. Fur the Chinese, Mearsheimer will say what THEY must do to court the US. And how the US will respond. The inevitable conflict with China is already happening, so it's not Mearsheimer desire or nonsense. It's reality. It didn't mean China is evil. It means China rise is causing the current hegemon to react to be able to keep its power. Unless China wants to submit to US, China will have to counter the US because the US will not sit and key China rise peacefully

Obviously the world is not enough for two global powers, even the USSR could not really sustain its economy and went into three or more decades of economic implosion before its went down. China's economy was primarily fueled by export led growth to Western nations, at least in the 1990s-2000s (decade) but has since developed its own domestic market, the only issue is, China is facing a 2008 financial crisis where there's more housing and other real estate than there is demand for: China could stop building one decade ago and still have enough roofs for everybody: look at the size of those ghost towns. Whether China will enter a Japan-style 'lost decade(s)' or just have to sustain low(er) growth rates remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, China will not eclipse the US economy any time soon, and even if it did, it wouldn't matter because it is not an innovation driven economy it is a manufacturing driven economy, and the US is trying to subvert that in the transistor arena. Indeed, the only real US concern over Taiwan is because Taiwan pretty much dominates manufacturing of transistors (though not the design, research and development of transistors) and without that, Taiwan would be pretty worthless to US strategic interests.
