This sounds a bit like Montessori’s Erdkinder model. The village, post-capitalist model - students as emerging members of a community and citizenry vs students as emerging laborers and consumers. Question: how do you ensure each village school is equipped to have expertise for individualized education for students with disabilities?

Honestly with the shear number of adults that this system would hedge, I imagined a good number of parents of exceptional learners would be available on hand to serve as experts for those students with exceptional learning needs. And I also envisioned how that "Homebase" In the community would house instructional, and pedagogical experts that have trained to support students with exceptional learning needs. So while out in the field those students would have access to adults that understand them, and back at home base "teachers" and "coaches" who can help them navigate their learning with their expertise in exceptional needs. I think the fact that you're asking the question itself, is evidence enough that there are adults in our communities who concern themselves with the needs of those exceptional learners. If we engage enough people we'll have a lot of experience and expertise to rely on, and a much greater diversity of learning experiences to offer those students in the first place.

I like it. Especially for our young men, and especially for those young men who have ADHD. They struggle in the conventional model because we actually expect a young man with ADHD to sit still and be attentive for 90 straight minutes four times a day. Far too often, they have to be drugged with countless pharmaceuticals for that to happen. It's horrible! Especially when all they want to do is not to have to come to school! They want a job and they want to start making money. Most of the ones I know are hard and happy workers when doing something they love, and they have very strong entrepreneurial spirits. So, if we could legitimately pair them with a good journeyman or master at that young age, I'm convinced they will sweep the industry in no time!

A very interesting model, but who would the students who want to be in advanced science be apprenticed to in a small town?
@TheQuietPartisLoud6 ай бұрын
My Fiancee I'd bet. She's a chemical analyst, and works in a lab with about 20 others, and her lab is only one of many. There's more people doing more jobs than most people think. From small farm towns in Ohio, to downtown LA. Each community will have needs from simple lab work all the way to experimental material science R&D.

@@TheQuietPartisLoud That's cool, but what I meant was that community based apprenticeship as a model for education may be limited by the trades that are available in the community A town with no major university or research lab wouldn't offer as much opportunity for scientifically gifted youngsters.
