Sometimes their mother used to bring their daughters, from them I git to learn how they are taking their education. One of girl said that she sold all the books her parents gave, to get achaar (pickle) and skipped classes to make romance with older boys from the slum (gangsters). It kinda funny but also sad to hear. As you may be aware of, South India is considered to be really educated state, from literacy rate to sex ratio is favorable in South India. But that aside if you go a few classes higher like where i am class 12 currently.....the education system is in shambles. The transition from class 10 to 11 is such a big difference especially in science stream, that you will need expensive tuition or coaching classes. Compare it to my life as a teacher overseas (teaching for last 16 years) my class strength is around mid 20s but boy I sometimes feel so disrespected as a teacher. There is a constant whining, complaining and rudeness. It was a cultural shock to me in the beginning, infact I had to relearn and my approach is more focussed on maintaining discipline and trying to keep my students out of drugs. One thing I like about India Though is u can learn without a single penny. Most government schools teach for almost free.* 😇

The thing that drives them is the motivation that education is the greatest outlet to be successful. Even though they may lack resources but the drive of the kids along with their parents is immense! Couple that with the intense competition and kids are flying through even before one could realize. I hope most kids in this video are doing well wherever they are. God bless!

Respected Sir, I respect the motivation and hardwork you are doing to improve the quality of education in your country. I am a teacher myself and from my experience i feel it's very important to have the following qualities in a classroom for effective and Quality learning: • Discipline among students (50% of which depends on parents and 50% depends on the environment of the school) •let kids be kids (by not restricting their imagination) •Balancing the Work Load (Homeworks, Assignments, projects) •Motivation- Very Important factors , as it can change any student . One speech from a teacher can really change a student life) •Determination: The will power, the hungerness to learn and to teach. • Technology- We see kids nowadays are too much dependent on Internet for their homeworks, Assignments or projects. Hence losing creativity skills. Also Addiction in Computer or Mobile Games or Social Media can also ruin the beauty of Childhood and the experimental age of the child passes without being any productive. I wish you sir a very Good Luck and hope you could succeed in your mission.

Rahul, Everything in life is a comparsion. When you buy a consumer product,. you make a comparsion. Education is the same way. The High performing PISA countries that have improved their educational systems have compared and implemented changes. Sorry to say, your deduction in reasoning makes absolutely no sense.

+keith ballard each country has its own edge in some field ,when it comes to education no one is anywhere near to Indians in terms of our will, love nd respect for studies but the unfortunate thing sir is our education system which is like a child abuse. Here in India we are told things and we are told a lot of things without any focus on how can we imagine a problem nd its solution we are told newton`s laws, ferrel ,tesla with no practical demonstration of how it works, with no reference to how that scientist thought nd came to this conclusion , as a kid we indians solve a lot of problems on maths, physics ,learn a lot of english vocabulary etc etc bt we have no idea what exactly is euclid`s geometry, how brahmagupta gave us trigonometry, why two minus make a plus ,we are made to cram english vocab without anyone telling us its relation with latin so that we can genuinely understand the meaning of those words,we know our national anthem by heart,we also know who wrote it ,what is meant by it bt we dont know why does a nation needs to have a national anthem ,how and from where did this concept of national anthem started etc etc as a kid i have done all this half sided crammy stuff i loved doing physics nd maths bt it was only when around 5 years ago(i had passed school by then) when cheap internet with a reasonable speed became reality in india nd we see the ocw lectures of teachers in america we realize all our basics about every subject are flawed we here in india despite studying a lot do not understand the real and complete thing ,yes i know majority of americans are also not clear on their concepts bt as i said earlier despite our ability and will to study our politicians have done nothing for education in past 68 years i wud say education in your school is far far better than ours

in the 60's my father had to study in an even harder conditions where he had a siblings of 6 at that time education was considered as a privilege 5 of them persued higher education including my father got a good job and made me study in a good school with good facilities, so I don't think comparing American education is not good because they have better infrastructure and well adjusted to their facilities, and they can afford it, if I was in my fathers situation knowing how good i had it i would just quit school. The people who become a successful person from this school will definitely not send them here they will send them to a good school so that they don't have to suffer what they have gone through. Just because these kids are helpless with their situation does not make it right, they definitely deserve better facilities.

Threads are better than staples. Paper will tear off from stapled area if it's handled roughly & it may also happen if pages are turned over. Threads will help make the pages intact in an answer booklet.

3:30 that is a traditional practice to tie your answers sheets and additional paper, we use strings not because staples were costly! By using strings to tie the teachers can flip and view the paper thoroughly, easier then correcting a stapled papers We practice this through out the south india, and we don’t use any needles to make that hole we used a stapler like thing called punchers. Finally staplers are so cheap in india you can get a stapler from a local shop for 50 rupees(less than a € or dollar) and the pins are just ₹10

Please make sure you take the consent of the families whose loved ones are being cremated. India has a problem of foreigners hogging to watch cremation on the Ganges. We are not a specimen to be studied or an animal to be watched in its natural environment. We are human beings, people, just like you, albeit from a different culture and philosophy.

it's easy to comment and judge, people... get in their shoes and maybe you'll understand. they might be poor but they are HAPPY. I have always used thread to keep my exam sheet together and that never bothered me. And why should it? These teachers are working hard to provide education and you are judging them? I am really thankful to each one of them and I mean it. But all you could see is that they are barefoot and they are eating with their hands and there are no windows... really? What do you expect? AC classrooms? Stop comparison... that'll never lead you to happiness. You'll never get it and I pity you for that.

As an Indonesian, this video reminds me how we also have a classroom for poor kids that's taught under a highway in Jakarta. I must say it's sad whenever I come across articles about poverty, especially if it has something to do with children. It's sad how most of them wouldn't be able to get educated due to their parents not having enough money, and they're probably gonna end up being unsuccessful just like their parents and continue the cycle of poverty to their children and offspring (If they ever have one). I must say, if you come from a first world or developed country, you should be grateful, because as bad as your education system can be, at least you don't need a hard time going to school like these kids. Anyways, since this video was made in 2011, I hope these kids have now grown and live a successful life, amen.
