I'm profiting in GM. Honestly, it's less about mechanics with Reaper and all about gamesense and decision making. So the only way to get better at him is by playing more with the mentality of asking questions (ignore teammate performance like this guy) and think about what you can do better each time.

I have learned to play him well against even pharahs. I have over 1k hours on him. Trick is to pay attention to where she's flying. You can teleport to high points she hovers near and get good burst damage on her either killing her or forcing her to run.

One of the best Reaper tuto out there, I reached high diamond with Reaper by playing him moslty like an aggressiv frontliner but I struggle a lot everytime I have no Zarya or Lucio on my team, the flanker playstyle is much more powerfull and I feel I can maybe reach high master with this level of play.

It's funny because a lot of these tips can also apply to Winston. Letting a tank make contact by passing by a choke unaware of where you are then bubbling them off from supports/dps. Not using Leap to always engage but often to disengage. Using right click to poke and always doing damage. Obviously it's a bit different but also funnily similar in a way.

dear @awkward, i would like to say i have been dreaming of a day where I watch your unranked to GM on reaper, as it's my fav dps. when i saw the thumbnail i was truly happy. a massive thankyou. i've been doing half of the steps u take, and with this video it made me realise i'm still not fully utilising what you are doing, so thank you for showing the way. a quick question: i'm in silver now, nowhere near the top - and im having trouble with the 'flyers', pharah and mercy - should i then focus on those enemies on the ground and get them whenever i can? Im a reaper one trick and most of the time dealing with pharmacy is not your job and killing the second supp becoums easier when they play pharmcey.. but i found the seting up on high ground and surprising the pharah with damage works allot of the time because her hitbox is massive

People really out here thinking that unranked to gm effects there games. The odds of you actually getting a gm in your games is so low. Plus you know one game doesn’t make the difference. Watch the video and actually learn instead of complaining. Made it to diamond after being trapped in gold far a year after watching this.

Hi, Awkward! Love the guide. Attempted to implement these tips in my gameplay. Here are 2 issues that I have: 1. Teleport ability mechanical usage - whenever the end point is slightly elevated, the game forces the marker to be on the very edge. For example, I want to teleport inside the room further, but the game only allows me to teleport to an unsafe open area in front of the room's doorway. Also, I often find the marker flickering in and out of existence, requiring precise ability aim for a teleport in some places. I find this ability really strange and it looks like it will take a lot of getting used to. 2. Flanking feels strange on Reaper if you don't have enough map knowledge. Unless you already know the angles in every map, It can be difficult to find a straight line for teleport and at the same time keep it from being obvious to the enemy team. And you have to make sure that your destination is a good position too. One complex knowledge check - something I hate in absolutely every game, not just in Overwatch. Regardless of these issues, I was able to make Reaper work in general thanks to this guide of yours. Details can be learnt later, what matters is that the general direction is correct.

Tried this, but it doesn't work as well in lower ranks. Biggest issue is that people just don't fight at the same time and everything is super staggered. Second problem I ran into is that my team often follows me when I try to get an off-angle.

Please do another one. We need to see how u deal with teammates who don’t heal or engage and u have to carry the whole team. How to deal with turrets and bastion playing with a dva who eats all your dmg. Or when your 4 steps need to be adjusted because of team comp and why and what they are going to be. I think his point was that no matter the scenario you’ll have to make small tweaks to your gameplan but realistically you always stick to the same plan. For turrets probably call them out to your team

My favorite character is the reaper guy. he is very powerfull. special move. honestly is one of the best in the game and so he comes equipped with these two revolvers and only takes about 3 or 4 shots to actually execute a kill so it comes really in handy specially when you come from the side.

It's striking how either though he's proactive and aggressive he doesn't seem hurried - it looks more about rhythm than speed. Also he has a broad view of what "value" looks like - even on a hero with a lot of burst damage, distraction is good when kills aren't on the table.

The distraction stems from people not wanting to allow the reaper to close that distance. Who wouldn't take a fight with a reaper who is playing out of his range? You not only could maybe get the kill, but you stop him from getting close enough to actually be a problem.

Do you think you'd ever do one of these with genji? I feel like its a playstyle you haven't really covered in your U2GMs and a bit harder than other flankers since he doesn't really have a "get out of jail free card" like tracer or reaper. As always, hope you're staying safe.

genji has a ton of escape options, the dash is one of you "get out of jail free card" as long as you're able to secure the kill. i think the mistake that most average genji players make is dashing in to fight rather than using dash to secure the kill. you should treat his dash like a reaper wraith as well unless you are absolutely confident that you can kill the person you are fighting with the dash and get out.

People consider Reaper to be extremely easy to play but I see so many people play him terribly. He is easy mechanically but I woukd argue that he takes more creativity to play then any other dps because you can be countered in so many ways. You need to have ideas lined up in your head constantly.
