Sir please give me the explanatory answer of the given question. I'll be very thankful. -------- Two numbers are 30% and 37% are less than a third number. How much percent is the second number less than the first ? A. 15% B. 12% C . 10% D. 5%

Sir, why can't 20% and 10% be added together? And why can 500 not be deducted directly from 30%? Why did you you do it separately?

Because the question says that 20% of 500 were broken i.e. 100 broken eggs and 400 eggs remaining. Then the questions say that 10% of the REMAINING (400) eggs are found defected i.e. 40. So 500 - 100 - 40 = 360.
