That was wonderful. I've been trying to make my own armature with not great tools and it has been challenging. I don't have a lathe or a milling machine so I have been using a small drill press and just a hack saw for cutting. I really enjoy the learning process and while my armature isn't at the same level of yours I have learned a lot. I'll probably buy one of yours at the end of my work but at least I tried! 😁
@edupuertasfruns3 жыл бұрын
It is worth to try whatever tools you have, you learn a lot from it
@chrish16453 жыл бұрын
You can do a lot with simple tools. Jewelers saw, drill press, and some files will take you pretty far. Also if you stick to softer metals like brass/bronze you may have an easier time.

I'm so glad you decided to make Sally, love this character, and been wondering how they achieved the mechanics inside, I'm looking forward to seeing part two and follow the development of this Sally puppet.. Would love to own one of these, be interested to see how it moves, how fluid it will be, as the real test is in how well it will animate right and how well it feels to handle and manipulate.. And I'm curious as to where the rigging points will be on this puppet.. And how you will achieve stabilisation, especially as it's such a large armature... 👍😊

Hi James, thanks, I finished the puppet some months ago. It was for a collector and I don't know if it will ever perform or not, anyway I made it as it has but did not have time to test with animation. Fighting that so Spanish speedy way to talk 😊 A mind exercise. Not only will be more relaxing to you but also will give you more time to... let's say... find and articulate the right words. I mean, this is a tip so basic but... what do we say to a kid that is just learning how to walk? "Try to run and fast, son. Run as your life would depend on it. Imagine you running from a very mean dog." No. The kid would probably fall even more 😁
