To think ... half a dozen actresses turned down the role. Can't even imagine these actresses playing Vivian - after having seen Julia Roberts even just in the first scene. She lit up the screen and held her own against the much more experienced Richard Gere - a heartthrob since Looking for Mr. Goodbar, American Gigolo and most certainly An Officer and A Gentleman. Together, they were magical. And her career took off like a rocket. She became a global star overnight and never looked back.
