Glad to hear he's good with his son now & that he & monica are sober.

This dude in my opinion was the best kid actor of all time.. His performance in T2 is beyond incredible, he should've won an oscar. His range from being a badazz teen, the coolest of cool.. to super angry, and bratty.. to super relatable, and emotional... to being extremely funny, with one liners. He had it all.. and arguably has more iconic lines in that film than Arnold, and that's saying something being Arnold is the king of one liners.... "I ORDER YOU NOT TO GO!"

Hus role in T2 was alright not oscar worthy or anything on the other hand he should have one a best actor award for American history x
@ReadyPlayerTomVR7 ай бұрын
@@dannyfernendogautreau1713 It was "alright"? Not oscar worthy, but his performance in AHX was? lol Totally disagree brother.. it was way better than "alright" I agree he was phenomenal in AHX.. and deserved recognition.. but his performance as a 13 year old actor in one of the biggest sci-fi films ever for his first role in a film is nothing short of legendary in T2. He made the character iconic, lovable, heartfelt, memorable, he outshines Arnold/Linda Hamilton in many ways. So many kids would've been forgettable, or cringe. He was near perfection imo. Just cause it's a sci-fi film about time travel, robots, and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't mean his performance shouldn't be appreciated like that one of a very serious controversial topic film like AHX where you expect to be praised at the OSCARS (overrated pretentious crap). Again great performance in AHX, but his performance as John Connor is way better imo.
@JDoucette6 ай бұрын
Great summary. When I watch T2, it's significantly due to anticipation of his role, actions, and reactions. Wikipedia shows the 3 main stars, but no Edward, yet he's arguably more iconic than Sarah Connor or the T-1000. He at least deserves to be in the group. He's also the one teaching the Terminator those great one-lines -- the greatest "one-liners" are actually misnomers, as they are built up by prior scenes, thus more striking when they land. (e.g. The "Do you feel lucky, punk?" misquote took an entire movie to build up.)

It's funny imagining a 6 year old watching such a scary, violent, deep, and complex movie nowadays, but we grew up different in the 80s and 90s. Hell, they marketed T2 action figures to is kids and Arnold Schwarzenegger toys in general whixh is largely how he became my favorite actor. And Terminator, T2, Kindergarten Cop, and True Lies were my favorite movies growing up from ages probably 5-10. And then the music was even more "adult," as my first favorite bands/music aside from all the Classic rock absorbed from always listening to the classic rock stations in the car with my dad (bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zep, The Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, The Who, Skynyrd, Clapton, Credence, etc.), and then from my mom always listening to R&B and Soul bands/singers Al Green, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, War, Earth Wind & Fire, The Chi-Lites, O-Jays, and so on. Anyhow, aside from them, from my older brothers and being raised by 90s MTV, I came to love all the alternative/grunge/hip-hop beginning with Faith No More, Metallica, and Red Hot Chili Peppers (Under the Bridge is the first music video i remember watching at age 5 or 6 and loving to this day), and then I came to love Soundgarden and Alice in Chains (my two favorite bands to this day), and then finally when i first heard Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg in 92-93 as a 6 or 7 year old I fell in love with rap-hip-hop, and while i still like and respect hip-hop (90s rap and "underground" stuff from the last 20 years), I feel like it's too negatice and too much complaining and too immature and adolescent amgst anger and rage for me as a 38 year old to listen to as i just havent found it enjouable or relateable to listen to for several years now. Anyhow, i digress. My point is, back in the 80s and 90s it didnt seem odd for kids to watch rated r movies, violent movies, horror movies and such, just as it wasnt odd to listen to music which spoke about drug addiction, depression, death, suicide, and as for rap, selling drugs, sex, disrespecting women, and all kinds of pointless crime, violence and murder. But i also think it helped me grow and mature as a person.

I met Edward Furlong at Rhode Island Comic-Con last year. I was wearing a two-piece Avatar: The Last Airbender sweatshirt and sweatpants. It was pretty late in the day, so I think I was the second person to come up to him after he returned from a photo shoot with Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton. We shook hands and I greeted him and he was really friendly. He also seemed kinda tired, but that was probably because he was taking photos with fans the whole day. I picked out a picture of him off the table for him to autograph and I told him I wanted him to write to me "Chill Out, Dickwad." He wrote it with a dark grey pen and handed it back to me. I noticed that he got one of the letters in my name wrong and he actually offered to redo it, this time with a gold pen so it didn't blend in so much. I emptied the rest of my wallet out for him and thanked him with a salute. So glad he's doing better. I want to become a writer after graduating from college and I hope to get into the movie making business. If I ever do, I'd love for the chance to get to work with Edward. Stay positive man. 👍

To help their dad heal, and to honor their mom. Maybe they have motorcycles, too. Maybe the sons were driven away after their mother died, and they try to patch things up with Pops after a long time apart, and that old drama resurfaces in the 2nd act, and is resolved in the 3rd. At 44:45, that “Thank you” was so fucking sincere it’s heartbreaking. You can tell Eddie’s never had many people who believed in him or told him they do. EVERYONE is rooting for you dude. Go for it and remind everyone how good you really are!

Great to see this dude looking so well, and beating alcohol, and other issues. Nice to see him happy, and also being so nice to the fans, that although he may not get his head around it, really appreciate him and his work. Movies are therapy for a lot of people, and the nostalgia is a comfortable and cozy place in a harsh world.

Someone needs to cast Edward in a major role. He's always had that certain extra something, and he still does. Give him a shot.

Struggling with sobriety, I know the pain. It's good to hear you're doing well with your mom and son. The podcast is excellent, and this was my first episode. I wanted to hear Edwards's story as I love American History X and the Terminator. Therapy does help. I've battled substance abuse and severe anxiety for 20 years. I'll be checking in for more podcasts. Thank you.

Edward Furlong seems like a cool dude, hopefully filmmakers manage to get more trust for him to do more movies in the future.

I don’t know how your show and interviews keep getting better, but they do. Thank you. As someone who struggles with addiction and all of life’s other bullshit, this was cathartic to watch. Keep fighting the good fight!

Sorry to hear that Monica Keena was kicked out of the rehab, calling what Edward did at 13 "running away" is putting too much blame on him, he was groomed by a woman in her late twenties when he was 13, poor kid didn't realize what was being done to him at that young age

It’s so good to see him. He has been one of my favorite actors my entire life. I always felt like his story mimicked Brad Renfro’s, and I hoped there would never come a day when we lost him like we did Brad. Both incredibly talented people. And Furlong has so many incredible movies that are overlooked or not talked about enough-Little Odessa, Animal Factory, American Heart, Pet Sematary Two, Pecker, even Detroit Rock City.

So good to hear this story. You can’t make your past your entire identity and there is a point in your life when you have to stop using your past as an excuse for all the shit you do. This lesson was powerful, and I needed to hear it. I hope he makes a comeback; he’s still so talented.

Seeing childhood idol, such as Macaulay Culkin, Shaun Weiss, and Edward Furlong doing good it’s nice to see just like we related to them in the movies growing up. I’m sure if there’s people who are trying to recover from addiction can relate to them overcoming them who grew up in that era
