Edward was a jerk to Bella but his feelings are understandable. He doesnt know of any other vampire that got a girl pregnant, as far as he knows, the pregnancy will kill her. He never wanted Bella to be a vampire in the first place but he doesnt know if he will be able to successfully turn her into one due to complications of the pregnancy. He is panicking, desperate and pre-mourning his wife. There are many husbands who prefer to have their wife than risk losing them to a dangerous pregnancy. He also doesnt think highly of vampires in general, that they are damned to hell and immoral. So he was afraid Bella would give birth to a demon spawn, that's why he is pleasantly surprised when he hears the baby's thoughts that its more human (and what he says as good) like Bella.

I think the imprinting is better explained as in Jacob will go thru stages during the person who he imprints on stage of development. Initially because he found the person that he imprinted on when they were born he will feel the need to protect them as a parent or brother would. Once the person becomes an adult the emotions he feels will shift to romantic. The imprinting process happens to them due to genetics it has its basis on the best genetics for the survival of their wolf side. At least that’s how the writer found a way to explain how Jacob imprinted on Bella’s child.

33:20 so that was Edward biting thru the embryotic sac because even needles couldnt penetrate it and he needed to get the baby out. Thats venom injection number 1. Then the baby bit her. Venom injection number 2. Then she looked like she died and Edward starts biting her all over in her main artery locations. So remember the first movie when James bit her, and she had all that other shit happen to her with the broke leg and the glass and getting thrown and shit, but the worse thing she felt was the burning vampire venom from James? Imagine that times ten, but also her being frozen in place from the morphine finally spreading throughout her body. She was basically burning alive on the inside, and couldnt move or express it or do anything about it, and that lasted for Days nonstop with no rest until the venom burned thru her blood supply finally killing her.

With the imprinting, the relationship is 100% decided by the one being imprinted on, in case Renesmee. If all she wants from Jacob is that brother figure, then that is what he will be for her, even if that's what she wants from him for the rest of their lives. If she changes her mind about it when she is older and wants a more romantic relationship then that is what he will become. It's not as gross as people make it out to be, especially since she's still a baby presently.
