Edward River Fishing: My First Murray Cod of the Year!

In what will be my last session on the Edward River on this trip to Deniliquin, it ended in style with my first Murray Cod of the year. I managed to land a few Carp too, in a spot I've never fished before.

Well done on your first cod for the year. You did well waiting it out I would have just given up and busted it off. Wow the end of the boat ramp sure is well out of the water

Thanks, It was getting very close to me doing just that. My guess is the water is only about 60-80cm deep over there, but I'm told work is being done at Mulwala and when its finished, they will release water.

Great patience definitely helps in those situations, usually you give them enough time, they will eventually swim out of the snag again, just like that 👍🎣 Good to see you finally found that Murray cod A few mud Marlin to keep you busy once again, the cod sure have plenty to eat, with all the snack size carp about...

I'm guessing all those in that 30cm range are from the floods, but yeah, plenty of food for the big Cod and was very happy to get one. Thanks Mick!

Nice vid Larry, good day on the carp and a very nice cod. The river is looking very low and not much flow, very different to the flood conditions a year or so ago

That is some low water! I’m taking it the tires in there by design? That’s awesome you got the fish out of the snag and it was a cod!! Beautiful fish Larry! 17 minutes to get that cod off the snag n landed, great patience. Good job of getting on the carp too. Nice outing👊

Thanks Chris and yes, the tires are used so the boats don't rub on the rocks in that area. Usually can't see them, but with the water so low, everything is visible.
