I've caught many trinkets but never anything better then silver amethyst. Any tips on how you get better ones?

any silver trinket you get has a chance of being topaz or ruber, so just by virtue of fishing them eventually you will get some, 10% of them are amethyst, id say topaz is 1 in 500 or something
