@@carl-magnusconsitt7389I know this is 6 months old but I was wondering if you could tell me if the Gemeni II is similar to the wa8000? I’ve had the wa8000(LOVED IT) but I had to sell it. I miss it dearly and would love to buy it back from the store I sold it. But, my friend has offered to sell me his Gemini II at a really great price, so I’m stuck between the two. I mainly record rap vocals and have a pretty deep voice. I mix my vocals so they pop out of the mix almost 3d sounding in a way

Buy your wa8000 back, the Gemini has that tube sound, but noyhing fancy like your old wa8000. I love that mike also, i think you love the sound of that "Lundahl inside" ! The gemini is a armyknife in studio but not as punchy as the wa8000. ONE mike you will LOVE is the Lauten Audio -347 (I think thats the name) a fet-microphone that you will love if you loved your wa8000. Thats 3x3 sounds. You will have that wa8000 sound in that one but even better soundingvin the high sounding! Best mike I have ever heard! ATLANTIS 👍

I recently found out by myself that the capsules on TF29 an 39 are slightly diferents due the Variable polar patterns on the 39, so we have the 47 and the 47S capsules. I was very very curious, so last week i needed a TF39 cause allready own a TF29 and, my man, i listening diference betwen both on quality, maybe because the TF39 Capsule need to be different for Polar patterns. But i own a pro recording studio and i have a 30 year production ears, lol...I can tell you the TF39 even if that the only diference are on Polar patterns changing options, this 39 is in fact "Better" sounding then the TF29. So i was curious and i had my answer. For vocals on Cardioid The 39 is a better overall sounding MIC. Strange maybe, but true. Cheers my friend.@@djsilent01

I had the Avatone CV-12 and I can vouch for the mic itself being an incredible male vocal mic, the overall build quality of the mic itself is fantastic, included components feel on the cheaper side, but overall it’s amazing for the price point you can’t go wrong, especially as this used to be $499.00 for the longest time and is now $399.00 I definitely plan to have one in my arsenal.

Personally, i would choose the TF 39 and the Pure Tube. In this comparison, the TF 39 sounds the best Tone wise. It sounds Warmer and Smoother more than the others which is exactly what you need in a Tube Mic. The Pure Tube sounds Big and Thick more than all of the other mics which is exactly what the Pros look for when it comes to microphones

The TF39 microphone is sonically identical to the TF29, except there are two more polar patterns: Omni and Figure-8. The CV12 and the WA8000 mixed and wet sound hands down the best on your vocals. The WA8000 had a smooth and slightly more pronounced top end sparkle while the lower frequencies remained smooth sounding. the Lewitt sounded the most neutral and was not bad. For your vocals on that performance my order of choice would be WA8000 > CV12 > TF> . I'm curious what you ended up choosing for that song. BTW great vocals brother!

We've got the CV12 here - I did have a pair of TF Copperheads which I liked as drum O/H , but the neutral sound of the CV-12 works on vocals - I also have a WA47, which I find a little tubby for some singers and sounds much like the old Copperhead, if not quite as rich - which can be a good thing. I'm thinking of trying a WA67 after a lot of comparison listening, also their U87 - for instance given what I've heard the WA67 for lead and WA87 for BV's could be good - WA are not Neumann or TF obviously, but at £2,700 for a U87 and £12,500 for an old U67, well - I can appreciate the vintage U67 sound, but an artist I played the comparison to preferred the sound of the new WA67 - go figure Love your presentations by the way, nice and factual

I use the WA-251 a lot. However my newest microphone is The SA-87t from Stam Audio. It comes in at about $1000.00 with shipping from Chile if you order ahead. The wait is worth it. It is a one of a kind microphone. Stam Audio is the real deal to get clones tat are made with the highest quality at a reasonable price. I wanted to get the SA-47, A Neumann U-47 clone. It is about 2000.00 with shipping. My wife had a medical issue come up and Josh (the owner) let me switch. 1:45 The $11000 are refering to a replica of a classic that is not even made by the same company. The Telefunken, that made the vintage 251 in the 1960s does not exist any more. The Telefunken today is an american company, that bought the rights to use the name Telefunken. The actual 251 will probably cost you 25-30k if you can even find one. Heiserman has a decent replica that will cost you 5k - still expensive, but the WA isn't worth to be called a replica imho and there are better mics for that money.

Can you power them using the 48v feature on an audio interface or do you need the external power source? Specifically wondering about the cv 12

Tube mics require the external power source, which comes with the mic. They don't use 48v.

nice test with the dynaimc parts the focus in the upper mids to cut thru on a phone speaker probably the 8000, its down to not too much saturation in the mixing skills not to make tubes sound reedy and washy up top, retaining the centre definition, the puretube was quite cutting too

Telefunken is the winner for me. The most balanced mic out of the lot…

The thing to listen for first is the sibilance. All the SSS, FFF, TTT noises. IMO the WA-8000 gets them up front without that cheap China condenser distortion, nice and clear, crisp and without sounding brittle. But purely considering sibilance, the winner for me is the Lewitt. Zero hissy fizzy gristly grainy SSS and FFF, but absolutely clean and undistorted. Would not have expected that! The Copperhead has a weird dip in the mids, over-emphasized the lows and overall sounds dull to me. I find the Avantone hissy and farty and spitty and distorted in the sibilance, does nothing for me, also many horror stories of things going wrong with this. I had hoped to fall in love with the WA-251, just to talk myself out of investing in a Telefunken TF51, but sadly it did absolutely nothing for me, I failed to detect any character or personality. Lewitt for perfection (that will require EQ later) and WA-8000 for aggressive in-your-face crispness without distortion. Thanks for this!

Great comparison, thanks for the video! Just my opinion, but I would lose the autotune. You have a really nice voice; imperfection is what makes us sound human and compelling (IMHO).

Are you aware that you are killing your mics by positioning them with the capsule at the top? Tubes heat up and heat rises damaging the capsules. Turn them upside-down so that there is no heat damage. SAVE YOUR MICS!!!

As I expected - the Lewitt Pure Tube is the worst microphone of all for my taste. I've owned mics of this brand before and in general the neutral cold sound I can understand on FET mics from Lewitt.... But why such neutrality on a tube mic? More precisely the opposite: why on a neutral mic is there a tube? What role does it fulfill? I answer myself - none. It's just marketing. The whole point of a tube is to color the sound, but there is no coloring in the Lewitt. What is the point of this microphone's existence is not clear to me. Some will say that the tube will show itself in post-processing - yes, it is possible. But in my opinion a tube microphone should sound distinctly colorful even in unprocessed or weakly processed form.
