These all have the same tweeter. I went with the 3.5 plus a Sub 8 subwoofer. I rolled off at something like 120 Hz. This asked less of the smaller 3.5” cone; it acts more like a midrange driver. Very happy with the setup, about the same price as a pair of Eris 5. But I’ll match bass with those any day.

I am blown away by the Eris 4.5. A beautiful upgrade from my previous Mackie CR3, which died of a sudden death. The soundstage & stereo separation is super clear & concise. The bass is deep & clean. I didn't buy the 5 because the price seemed significantly higher for only .75" bigger woofer. Totally happy with my purchase.

Damn I just got Mackie CR3XBT White edition. For how long did you had them before they died?
@harri211
@harri211 Жыл бұрын
@@FromTheHood I had the Mackie for about 3 or 4 years. It died for the stupidest reason - the toggle switch to designate the master speaker as left or right went bad. I could jiggle it back & forth to get it working for an hour or two, but became more of a hassle than its worth. Having them fixed would cost about as much as purchasing a new one. So just bought new Eris's. Loving them dearly!

Mackie CR3s are garbage. I had them before everyone knew that tho. There's a factory defect that they all have with a pin on the chip inside and I'm not a technician so I'm not gonna try fixing them 😢

Had the Eris 3.5's for over 2 years, and just a few days ago I upgraded to the E5's. Have to say: The bass response truly is on another level, and they do feel like a more "serious" set of monitors. However, I still think that the 3.5's are amazing: Incredible clarity, good stereo imaging and overall easier to use than the E5's (Switching them on/off with only one switch, less power consumption, less chance of constructive interference on low frequencies). In conclusion: If you just want to listen to music without much complication and you dont mind the restricted bass response, the 3.5's are an amazing choice. Having said that, the E5's are on a whole different level, and really worth the extra money and effort for more sensitive applications.

@cirolo98 3 жыл бұрын
@@sav7568 True, but for the amount that the E3.5's + Sub would cost, you could go for the E5's or maybe even E7's. Only reason I see for 3.5+Sub is if you have very limited desktop space, and even then I'd try to squeeze the E5's in with the help of a stand or something like that.

I've bought the E4.5 BT. So the 4.5 but with Bluetooth support. I've placed the pair in my living room and they sound so much better compared to the 5.1 Harman Kardon speaker set that came with my receiver. You can use the on off switch on a surge protector to kill the power on the E5 monitors with no pops, etc. Perfectly quiet. I'm going to mount a small one under the desk to be able to turn them on and off. Not sure of their idle consumption, but there's a fair bit of heat off the back, so nice to be able to kill them with a single switch if they're not being used for a period of time.

the bass gain from the wall reflection will be unbalanced and not accurate . 3 feet is quite far though and for small speakers like this you could go quite close . 1-2x the port size is a good start position.

One thing worth noting is that E5's are stand alone speakers, with their own connectors. Therefore, there is not only once cable going to your PC, but two cables. This means that you need a splitter to connect it to regular computer. E3.5 and E4.5 are connected together and only one cable goes to your computer like with basic PC speakers.

I am thinking of getting the smaller eris 3.5. I am not into music production, and I am not a bass head. I just want them for computer speakers. But I 've read in some review that they over emphasize the high frequencies. Is it true? And do they cause fatigue? I listen to music many hours.

listening on my focal choras the 4.5 had the most balanced sound . the 3.5 were small and bright , but sounded too small and boxy . the 5s had to much low mids trying to approximate bass . the 4.5 were a little softer in the mids , but push the volume up and get them off the desk and you get most of the mid detail back . they were the most balanced across the spectrum and closest to a flat over all sound , just smaller than usual.

There's switches on back of the E5's to address the low end. Also mid and treble knobs. It all depends on the layout and setup I gather, so it's nice to have the options. Personally, I lika da bass, that's what sold me on them, especially for the price and small footprint. But if I was doing serious mixing I'd have to adjust for less low end.

I recently bought the 4.5 monitors for my home setup. I do television and film sound and sometimes I just work at home in stead of my studio. I was a bit sceptical of these, but after pairing them with the Eris Sub 8, I am pretty impressed. I have been using them for a week now and I am actually still adjusting to the sound quality, but I am really not unimpressed. The unreliable power grid in my country has claimed my iLoud Micro monitors and I purchased these as a backup pair while I have the others repaired. In my opinion the iLoud monitors are still better. Not a bad choice at all.
