My apartment currently only has part fibre technology fttc 😢 I get roughly 70-74Mbps Download and roughly 16 to 18Mbps Upload. The speeds are consistent including the ping which around 4-6. But i really want that super fast fttp. BT/EE still have no updates on my area when it will arrive.

@@AutomaticDuck300 Yes of course any Openreach FTTP service is good in terms of the internet connection. Customer service now that is a different matter all together.

I’m on my fourth one since the beginning of August. Keeps flagging external fault but Open Reach have been six times coming to the same conclusion - it’s the router (which EE won’t have). Also keeps dropping out. Been now put back onto the SH2. 😵💫

Also be aware that this hub has 4 x 1GB outputs. If you go for a 1.6 Gb connection, you wont get the full bandwidth on a single cable output as the port will be a bottleneck (Due to being 1 Gbps port). Obviously it will be handy if you have multiple devices, but if your need a straight up 1.6Gb connection then you would have to buy a router with at least 2 x 2.5Gbps ports (One for the ONT and one for connecting to the device you are downloading with). Most wouldn't need to have a single cable download, but for my job as a software tester it would be a necessity as the apps would need to be downloaded quickly to be tested. EE should ship out a router with multiple 2.5 Gbps ports if they are selling the 1.6Gbps service, just in case someone needs to have the full 1.6Gbps for downloads.

I’m having 900 installed next week, so this interesting. Do you have any recommendations on better routers around the ~£150 mark? I get your ASUS router shows better performance, but it’s a £300 router, so I would expect it to be better.

Had BT but they wanted twice the price of this one so I swapped to EE, even though they are the same company?. Took me a couple of minutes to set it up and so far no issues. I have a EE mobile phone and I do lose the WiFi calling occasionally and I don’t know why

I am 80 so not technical. I am with BT and live in a cottage with thick walls and l am on old copper line. I have just agreed to try EE and first person told me l will be plugging this in and could even take it out to conservatory using an extention lead. Today this little thing has arrived not as big as my mobile doesnt plug anywhere hand held l guess. What is this can anyone tell me please? I found this video for help. Just tried BT on phone but it is an hour wait.

If it doesn’t stop flashing after 5 minutes contact EE and let them know it’s not connecting to the internet.

Yes the red ended cables are cat 6. Nothing but complaints from the customers about the hub you are spot on.

Ive seen your other review of the virgin media hub 5 and black pods, how would you compare that to EE? Ann with using both which provider would you recommend?

@@Hiteshdattani1990 First off they both have terrible customer service. Now in terms of stable internet connection coming into the house, EE or any Openreach FTTP provider. As for Wi-Fi that depends on your home if the provider equipment works fine, if it doesn’t get your own.

We've been stuck with this for about a month since EE offered us a good deal to "upgrade" from the BT hub where there had not been any issues. Since then the internet has been awful. It keeps its speed and improves range but nothing else and making wi-fi connections with it is almost impossible. We were on to EE to do something dozens of times before they sent a technician who finally told us it was faulty and the problem we had was common. They are supposed to be sending us a replacement!

I've had mine about a couple of months, and I've had no issues with it. I didn't know the WAN port is 2.5. That makes great sense given they offer 1.66.

The WAN port is 2.5 but the ethernet ports are 1Gig. So you will need a 3rd party router to get 1.6Gig speeds on the new speed package. Until EE update to a Wi-Fi 7 router later this year.

not having 2.5gig lan ports is a deal breaker for me. i am paying for ee 1.3 gig down so the connection is faster than the router is the bottle neck

Hi Thank you for your feedback on the EE router. I am currently having issues with the EE router when I connect laptop and mobile to the router it connects but then says no internet. I contacted the tech team and there amazing advice was. You have a virus on your device. I said that’s a lie because I brought my work laptop home and it did the same on that. I am looking to set up my own router but will need to watch your video

Problem i find with both BT and EE, digital phone will only work with their smarthubs. I got a TP Link AX3000 router which is head and shoulders above the smarthubs... But if i choose to use that then i have no option to use digital phone which is not ideal.

IWas with BT, Then Upgraded To EE, Worst Thing I ever did,, Had 3 Hubs.. Laptops wouldn't Connect Or would Just Drop Out..I Insisted I went Back on To BT. Wouldn't let me as they said everyone is moving to EE.. I put in several complaints and after 6 months they have moved me back to BT,, I have had no issues, was using a BT router on ee network and it worked perfectly again now

Plugged red wan into back of box and into open reach white box on the wall why is the light flashing orange still it’s been an hour ? The guy said you could plug it in and it’ll be up so why haven’t connected the red wan cable and openreach lan 1 red cable and still no internet? The smaller one, smart WiFi is blue and working so what’s stopping my router from working? Just cancelled community fibre for this shit and it don’t even work

This is an absolute joke of a hub it's literally been dumbed down with them removing the usb support and the router if it resets does not store the information in the event log it's always wiped as it's a confirmed memory leak and this router constantly restarts and I have had multiple replacements so I decided to buy 2 Asus tuf 3000 gaming router with 2.5gbs wan and 2 Lan agragation it's also WiFi 6 it cost me £93 each and it's been absolutely amazing and all WiFi speeds have tripled and no disconnects with very strong wifi

EDIT: The worst system ever. I have returned this junk to EE and I am now a happy Virgin customer with 1GB speed I just had this router installed, replacing my BT business router, and let me tell you, this EE router is much better in terms of speed and reach.

Of course wi-fi 6 routers are a lot better than the older wi-fi 5 routers. Unfortunately this router didn’t work for me. EE are get the new wi-fi 7 router out around December, that’s according to EE sales team.

@@JamieBussey-tr4hn Definitely not a virus, I can confirm it is the EE router. Before you get your own router, I would suggest try to get a new EE router sent out because it’s hit and miss, I got a new one sent out and it’s working. I’m still using my own router but you need an EE one incase of any issues they can’t troubleshoot with your own router. Ps I’m on my 4th EE router.
