Hey guys, I loved this video, because you gave me new perspective of the city I was born and grew up in. So glad you had a lovely time here. And, to answer your question, the wooden phallic bottle openers are a tribute to the God Dionysus, god of wine and sex, used to open the means of relaxing and having a good time, a bottle of spirits. In ancient times, phallic wooden statues, were brought to his temples as offerings in order to gain his favour, and there numerous feasts that still use the Phallus as a way of teasing and sign of prosperity for crops and children-making, in many cities of Greece. Very old school stuff. Moreover, it does catch your eye and it is a best seller with tourists. Anxiously awaiting for the next vlog, guys!

Loved this! We had planned on going to the Mediterranean on a cruise for Harry's 50th this year, but then my Dad who is 86 decided he wanted to go on a cruise, so we canceled ours and booked the Joy for the Mexican Riviera. We will be going maybe next fall, so your videos will be our inspiration. :) Amazing!

I want to be there right now! One could spend an entire week just in Athens and not see everything and you have to get as much as you can within a day and a half. I can only imagine how surreal it is in person to see things that we do not have in the US. Thank you for sharing this amazing trip and I cannot wait to experience it myself :)

OMG...OMG. This looks like it's going to be an amazing trip. I've been obsessed with ancient Greece and Egypt since I was a little girl. I've watched many YT videos on Greece but I've never seen it like this. I've never seen the graffiti! It may look a little off-putting to some but I like the way the city is a combination of the old and new. The ruins ...I can't believe the different the difference in elevation from the first ruins you filmed up to the Acropolis! Those ancient Greeks must've had great lungs and huge calf muscles...that's a mighty steep hike uphill. My only regret is I didn't visit before I got Diabetes....those bakeries!!!! I had to take some Insulin just watching it on screen LOL! I'm looking forward to the next episodes!

Alisa, I love hearing the excitement in your voice when you saw the Acropolis for the first time through the buildings, and at every bakery. I'd be the same way and come out 30 pounds heavier. Isn't it so magical to explore new places? Looking forward to the next piece of this AMAZING journey. :)

Great trip to Athens guys and I'm glad you enjoyed it.. The graffiti is mostly located in the center of the city which is a little sad to see but charming as well.. You guys were staying in a very boheme area(Exarchia) known for their street art and tagging.. Being greek myself I enjoyed your videos of Athens. Next time around you should visit the seaside of Athens(southern suburbs) all the way to Cape Sounion where you see the temple of Poseidon.
