Portland Head Light is so called, because the piece of land it sits on is called “Portland Head”. Thus, Portland Head light.

So glad you had a great time in Portland and it's environs. We live in Portland and have been here for over 40 years. It's kind of surreal to see places we're very familiar with in your video. The Porthole is definitely one of the great places to eat at when you're here. As far as why the Portland Headlight is called a headlight and not a lighthouse, it's one of custom. The lighthouse sits on the Portland headland, which has been shortened to just Portland head. Instead of thinking of it as a headlight, think of it as The Light at Portland Head. You are right there are a number of lighthouses in Portland harbor. The lighthouse you saw across the channel that you couldn't get to is called Ram Island Lighthouse. That light paired with The Headlight (locals like to shorten things up) mark the entrance to the harbor. If you took a boat up through that shipping channel, the next light you would see is the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse that is at the end of a 900 foot breakwater. That, in turn, leads you to Bug Light, a very small non-operational lighthouse that sits in a spot that back during World War II was used to build Liberty ships (Re: Rosie the Riveter). And that's just the beginning. Lots of history in what might be one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world. Glad you took the time to pay us a visit! Ya'all come back now, ya hear?!

My dad was a lighthouse keeper in Virginia for the Coast Guard. If I remember correctly, a Head Light is the head indicator of mainland and/or port when there are multiple lighthouses within a certain radius.

You guys are living a dream and am happy for both of you. Your husband is really cool. Looked really good when you ate the Lobster roll. Better than being on a cruise ship. You guys take care, enjoy your adventures, and watch out for Headlights. Ha Ha. Take care my friends. Tampa.👍🏻🥰🙋♂️🎄❄️☃️🇺🇸

Nice video! I’m from Portland, my wife and I will be flying back home on October 10th, coming in from San Antonio,Texas! Going to see my Mom, and vacation, but just to let these two nice bloggers know, and anyone else who cares, Portland Headlight is in the town of Cape Elizebeth, Maine, not Portland, approximately 15 miles from Portland! 🎃🍁🦞🫐

Oh my goodness your video brought back so many memories. I wrote to you on your last video that my grandfather was from the cape. When I saw the lighthouse in ME it reminded me that my grandfather manned the lighthouse at the top of the Cape in Provincetown and he worked on the wharf filleting fish as the fishing boats came in. He showed me a 650 pond tuna once!! And then you showed Bayley’s campground and I stayed there with my grandparents and family friends. I can’t believe it is still there. That was over 40 years ago!!!! We had taken a 2 week camping trip on route 1 thru New Hampshire coast and Maine coast and all the way up to the top of Maine. Bar harbor and Boothbay harbor are nice too. Thanks for the memories!!!

I have to say, that with every video, I love it more and more to watch the wonderment in your eyes over things that we here in New England just take for granted; Alisa's face when she she's the pretty leaves, the rocky coast of Maine, going out for fresh seafood, the ocean tides....just normal stuff to us. I imagine that my first trip to NOLA would be the same. You know you're eating a lobster correctly if it's dripping down your arms and chin, so Bravo Jason! Excellent job!! I got a kick over the" headlight", lol. Isn't she a beaut, Clark? Portland Head is a place... which has a light, thus Portland Head Light. You two are simply the best!

The food segments of your videos are as good or better than any professionally produced shows. I can see the pure enjoyment in each bite. I was a bit disappointed at 10:45 when the waitress dumped the roe (red eggs) into the shell bucket. That is one of my favorite parts along with the tomalley. I don't toss much into the bucket except for the gills, shell, stomach, eyes, and a few odd internal pieces. Even the ganglia (nervous tissue) is edible and quite good. Some don't eat the tomalley (green stuff/liver and pancreas) since it is said to contain toxins. Maine lobster is worth the trip. There's nothing that tops a steamed Maine lobstah dipped in buttah.

Love your Content! I have a question, I love the idea of purchasing an RV and started following you when you first purchased your RV being new to the RV life how are you finding the experience? have you encountered problems, is there anything you would change about the rig you purchased, have you had quality issues? I would love a video on your RV travel experiences, choice of Rig including things you like and things that gave you challenges, how you experienced navigating to campsites along your route. From the videos you post you are a great couple, have a great attitude, enjoyable to watch and seem to make the most of what ever you do. Great Job! If you decide to travel back to CT. again please go to Stew Leonard's, Lyman Orchards, and Mystic Seaport.
