As far as I understand it this stuff doesn't 'kill' ants. They just eat it and take back to the nest and feed it to their queen and it stops her laying eggs - so no new ants are produced and the colony dies out naturally. - very humane and effective way of 'killing' ants.

Had a major ant infestation out in the yard a few summers ago to the point a log in my yard was covered in a fuzzy black layer of ants. I bought tons of ant gel and every day they would glom around it. Eventually after two weeks they stopped showing up and I used bait afterwards to finish them off. Haven’t seen any since :)

Yup, that's what I did. Camping out in an RV in south california, ants were fucking everywhere. in the cabinet, in the refrigerator, in the garbage, and some were even getting on the couch! Googled "how to get rid of ants," and found out about the borax and syrup solution. I didn't have syrup with me so I just mixed it with sugar to see if it would work. Literally 3 days later, no living ant to be found. Just make sure when you are mixing to add more sugar than borax. If you don't, they won't go for it.

I had an ant infestation in the hay bale I got for my bunnies, I couldn't feed my bunnies hay or add anything to cover the bedding for a week till pay day. My bunnies were so mad they stopped letting me pet them, so on pay day I got some ant bait traps for $2 each box of 4. They were gone from my entire yard and I only used one pack. I put 2 in the colony inside day hay bale and one on the colony inside my veggie garden. The bait traps still had bait in them, so they killed them fast.
