There are so many games about leaving your life in the city to start a new one in the country, or on an island. I'd like to see one where you do the opposite: leaving your dull little one-horse town and moving to the bustling big city. Maybe work at a bodega, or get a job in an office mailroom. Maybe visit museums and arcades and the like.

I'm really appreciating these more honest reviews I'm seeing from cozy gamers- it's super helpful and validating and you're saving me some money! My biggest regret is Rune Factory 5. I thought I could get over the appearance of the game, but it's just so so ugly with poor performance and I also think...much like your experience with Nintendo Sports, I may have outgrown the franchise, and nostalgia is not enough to enjoy the experience. I LOVE Luigi's Mansion 2, though I got to play it for free from my library, so I'm sure that's colouring my impression.

I never finished the main story. My biggest issue was gameplay. This is my first Rune Factory game and I felt the farming aspect was too complicated. I really hated on how I had to 'lvl up' my crops and other things, plus the Weather affects. And the pacing was horrendous, I thought it was too slow. I still may pick it back up and try because I loved the story and chars (and I do like the art, but I know others didn't).
@TriforceLiz10 сағат бұрын
@@Zodia195 Rune Factory 4 was my first and it was the perfect lil handheld to play while watching TV, and I think the pacing was better just by virtue of better map layout and it being top-down rather than 3D, making tasks way more straightforward and quick. Levelling up the farming did still take time, but the process felt more satisfying and less of a slog in 2D. The main thing that compelled me to try 5 was that you can have queer romances, but for whatever reason, the characters made into 3D really emphasises just how childish they look...I think the series can work in 3D in the new direction they're taking for the next one, but as it stands right now, it was as much better system/aesthetic in 2D

I appreciate the honesty, because sometimes it feels like we're constantly being sold something whether it's good or bad. I feel like there's a cozy "tax" on cozy games because we are more forgiving, so we're given half finished games that just look pretty. And Nintendo's poor focus on female gamers means when a female is a protagonist (like Peach or Zelda), we get dumbed down games for children or a Zelda who isn't allowed to handle real weapons. On the Apico subreddit, the Apico dev said the following about releasing Apico onto the Switch: "I don’t actually own a Switch DevKit at the moment (I only managed to finally get approved and order one yesterday!), so the current workflow for Switch is I make a lot of changes semi-blind (I can emulate the frame rate, resolution, and handheld mode but ultimately I can’t emulate the actual hardware specs or Switch-specific methods) then pass it onto Whitethorn (publisher) to build and send me any logs. This obviously doesn’t lend itself well to being easy to manage and means I can’t directly run the profiler live myself to see if theres any specific pain points that could be better for the Switch specifically." I think this is why so many Switch ports are questionable. The devs make them on a purely theoretical basis, most likely under pressure of the publisher. Personally I'd prefer they just didn't release a Switch port at all in that case, but it's clear some publishers aim to get money from Switch players while providing us with a subpar product. They wouldn't even provide this specific dev a proper Switch emulator until after the game had already been released onto the Switch.

Sorry to hear about Sun Haven. It being a pixel game, I got it on the PC and it's great! Not my fav Farm sim (that right still belongs to Stardew), but it was worth waiting for since I got last Christmas. I hope those bugs get fixed so you can enjoy it. One of your colleagues, Josh, did his yearly tier list of new Farm Sims this year and he put Orange town on the lowest rank, so you're not alone. Now as for my list of Switch games I regret buying, I am going to apologize ahead of time because one of those games is one you love, so I am very sorry! -Wylde Flowers- I am SOO sorry, my biggest reason for giving this game a try was because of your review since I had been on the fence due to the art style. Story and chars were great, but I just ended up dropping it because I had lost interest. Art was charming yes, but it still didn't 100% appeal to me and I just didn't find myself connecting with the townsfolk as much. But as usual, biggest factor was the gameplay, I just found it tedious. It's a good game, I just couldn't connect. Sorry Eeowna. - Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE- This for me was the biggest disappointment since I am a big fan of the creator of this game since I am a huge Danganronpa fan. Problem was as the story progressed, I started not enjoying the mysteries and dungeons more. I couldn't help but compare the game to DR 1 since it was a new franchise (the ending hinted at more games). - Rune Factory 5- Biggest problem I had with this game was the pacing, it was such a slog, plus the farming aspect felt too complicated. I really want to pick up this game, but the gameplay is severely lacking, which hurts since I loved the chars and story. I keep saying I am going to try and pick it back up again, but I haven't. I do want to give this franchise one more try though. We'll see.

I’m still most bitter about paying full price for “It Takes Two.” They so heavily marketed it was the perfect game for a gamer with a non-gamer, (or casual gamers) yet the game was entirely too difficult for non-gamers and there were no tools to help you get past those difficulty bottlenecks. I think we got a half hour into the game before we got permanently stuck.

I'm so glad you talked about Orange Season! It looked interesting but it was very expensive so I was hoping you to cover it first 😅 I will skip it and Sun Haven too. I still want to play it but seeing how bad the switch port is I'll just get it on steam! 😊 I don't regret buying any pokémon game, because I will buy them all because I just love pokémon. But Scarlet & Violet was the worst game ever, I hated playing it. I liked seeing all the new pokémons, catching them, battling them and the open world. Even the story was actually decent. I just hated playing it, like I wanted it to end. I didn't want to catch all pokémon, or even buy the dlc I just wanted to never touch it again once I was done with the story. It made me also really upset how Pokémon/Game Freak makes such horrible games, regardless Pokémon being one of the biggest franchises in the world. What made me upset is that we fans will buy their games because we love pokémon, and they don't care, and will always release unfinished buggy games just because they know we will buy them. You'd think in 2024 we'd have the best pokémon games EVER but no, they're getting worse and worse! No matter how much I complain, I will still buy them. Which I hate. That's for that! Have a nice rest of the week and hopefully you all have peaceful holiday ❤❤

Very disagree with Brothership and Princess Peach Showtime. I think I made my points on the Princess Peach game before so basically, while I see your criticisms, I disagree. I thought the game had a lot of charm. The gameplay was fine for me and the short game time doesn't bother me because I love to replay games just because. But I get it, I can see how it could be disappointing! As for Brothership, I haven't played it myself yet however I do know sone problems people have. Like how odd it is to press A before you attack with Luigi for instance. But as far as multiplayer goes, the problem comes more when traversing the map and the moves in battle. So if one of you is having issues, it's going to make the experience difficult. A turn based RPG is better off as single player in my opinion. Now as far as other RPGs in Mario are, that's more up to preference. Some may prefer Paper Mario, others may prefer Mario and Luigi. Now I like both but honestly, I think I prefer Mario and Luigi so Brothership would probably be better for me. However, I can still see where you are coming from because we all have our opinions. And I respect your opinion. I just disagree Mario wise is all! If I had to pick a game I was uncertain of, mine is tERRORbane. I feel like more could have been done with the concept. And also, I thought my choices in earlier acts would changee things later on so that was disappointing for me. And I despise the in-game developer. I know he was railroading the name choice to be funny and all, but all that scene did was tick me off. It's a good game but difficult to go back to for me.

I think my biggest regret was the Baten Kaitos remake. I loved the original game on the Gamecube, and sure the voices sounded like they were recorded in a tin can but after playing it for a little while I could excuse it because I got so into the story. The remake doesn't even give you the option to switch between the Japanese and english voices, it completely cut the English voices out. But what makes it so weird is it left in the beginning cinematic with the original English voices. I tried so hard to like it, but I just couldn't do it. The main character was supposed to be a little goofy, a typical emo try-hard-to-be-bad-ass kid and his Japanese voice actor makes him sound like he is a bad ass adult. It doesn't fit for me. Which was really disappointing. The company has even said they scrubbed/deleted the English voices, so there's no way to add them in.

It's ironic that you feel the areas are a bit too BIG and that the game is called Petit Island, lol. I think the visuals of this game would appeal to younger players and keep them busy (getting lost on an island), while their caregivers complete chores/tasks somewhere else in the background. The subject matter of the story might be too deep for a youth to grasp by themselves, but with parental guidance I think venturing out to take pictures for a scrapbook shouldn't be too difficult (it has more freedom than being on rails compared to Pokémon Snap, lol).

My big regret is graveyard keeper. It looked quirky and fun but it wasn't AT ALL accesible to me with memory issues. Having hints and major mechanics put into single lines of npc dialog that don't repeat and don't get recorded is criminal. Even if I didn't struggle with my memory, I feel like that's an awful feature for adults who might pick up the game and then put it back down for a few weeks. It really would not have been hard to include a more detailed journal, that's a standard feature in the majority of modern games. I'm a little salty because that oversight made the whole game unplayable.

Thank you so much for this video, as many of these were on my wishlist!! If not these Pokemon games, what is the best one to start with for someone who has never played Pokemon? I know Arceus is considered the best, but I'm more curious about playing one that is 'traditional' so I can get a good feel of the franchise. I think the other options are then Sword/Shield (which my friend told me was too easy?) and then the game originally from the DS, Diamond/Pearl (which my friend recommended above all of them).

Personally I had the most fun playing Heartgold/Soulsilver on the DS, and X/Y on the 3DS. I feel like they hit that perfect sweet spot on each console. I really enjoyed Arceus. That's probably been my fav on the switch. Sword and shield is ok but yes it's kind of easy. The dlc's make it harder. I don't think I finished those but looking back I'm not sure I will. I think they *finally* worked out all the kinks in Scarlet and Violet at least it's not glitching on my OLED and the plot is good..... Again the DLC's also make it harder. Brilliant Diamond is also good if you don't mind the mild pixelation. I found it harder than any of the games above. I actually had to look at some walkthroughs to finish it and to get some of the rarer Pokemon. Snap is kind of easy. Let's go Eevee and Pikachu are both also kind of easy. I think that's everything that's come out on the switch?

I said it as it was one of my most asked questions when I played it on stream. I’m new to the series, and overall just thought for the same price I think other games are better 😊

Agree with her I've got 96 games on my 1TB switch sd card and I'd say I also regret around 18 maybe 20 of those especially borderlands collection if I knew how much gb each game was wouldn't have even touched the game since I'd already beat it 4 times on the Xbox 360.

All of Eowna’s videos make me question if I’m saying words correctly or if I’m considered a “dumb American” lol

For pokemon violet I liked the game and I didn't have any problems or just didn't notice but the dlc I didn't finish.

Pokemon Scarlet and Voilet is the worst pokemon game they ever released. I'm still sad/mad about it. I have played all the pokemon games and started with pokemon Blue back in the days....But S & V is truely a dissapoinment and the dlc only made it worse.

The Scarlet DLC was so buggy, it was unplayable. Mika and the witches montain was a bad buy too, the controls are horrible.

Nope, Brothership is a brilliant game.

As I said I’m glad for people who feel like it’s money well spent! I just didn’t like it as much as other Mario games this year!

I disagree about ML Brothership. I’m really enjoying it, and I found TTYD flat and repetitive.

Fully depends why you love these games so totally valid! Honestly I’m just happy you got your moneys worth considering Nintendo don’t even do refunds 😭

I agree! I love Brothership, though I don’t feel the story is quite as captivating and oh my gosh, a couch co-op would have made this game amazing! Though I do appreciate a co-op game I can play on my own because I don’t have many gaming friends!

I regret buying “Minabo - a walk through life”. Opened it, played it for 10 minutes and hated it so much that I deleted it immediately 🙈 I also regret buying Fae Farm even though I normally love farming sims. Not sure what it was. Something about the game mechanics I think. Didn’t enjoy Paleo Pines either. I also regret buying “Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics” simply because I bought it for full price as one of my first games on my Switch and I have never opened it and probably never will 😅 (Well actually I regret buying a lot of games - maybe I’m just very picky about what games I like and want to spend my time on 😛)

I really wanted to like Pet It Island and was very disappointed. For me even if it wouldn’t have the frame drops. I just didn’t like how it marked absolutely everything I had to do, like if an NPC sent me to a spot they would mark it on the map, if I had to take a picture of something it would mark the item for me. There was no thinking done by the player and like you said the in game players are just standing there. It reminds me of the “Mail Time” game that I also didn’t enjoy because there wasn’t any exploration done. It was just going from NPC to NPC in one small area without having any areas or places to explore. Physically love both games, but not the game itself.

I have no qualms with people having their own opinions, but it drives me nuts when the thumbnail literally tells people not to buy these games. Just because they’re not for you does not mean they’re not for everyone.
@DMGamandaКүн бұрын
But she starts out with that exact sentence. At the end of the day thumbnails and titles have to be what the algorithms will like to promote. 😊
@naeshelleКүн бұрын
No one has to say “these games weren’t for me but they might be for you.” They don’t have to qualify an opinion every time they give one. That’s not how opinions work. The thumbnail is clearly meant to drive clicks & the title very clearly tells you that the video is about their personal opinion.
