EERI’s Carolinas Regional Chapter hosted this virtual talk by Dr. Silvia Mazzoni on ground motions for analysis in engineering practice. Dr. Mazzoni discussed site-specific vs code-based spectra; probabilistic vs deterministic analyses; near-field effects of directivity and directionality; ground-motion scaling vs matching; and multi-period spectra.
