I was thinking the same thing. You can see the rain on the screen, to me that's an indication that it's actually raining and not just the ground looking wet. I would have slapped the wets on but that won't save you from the rammers. They lurk somewhere in every race, ready to well ram you off the track with NO remorse. Now THAT is Forza Motorsport in a nutshell.

Tbh I use to be one of those idiots ramming into everyone but I had never played forza before and knew nothing about motor sports. After watching some actual gt races I understand the rules and etiquette a lot better. This game is tons of fun and while the lobbies are usually bad I still get at least 1-2 great races per day and they’re so much fun. Starting to love this sport so much better than nascar imo!

We should be able to get more than 1-2 "good" races a day lol. I've hardly even had one. I race GT7 so I know racing etiquette and what not. 99% of my races get ruined by rammers in Forza. Like put me in last place on last lap kind of ruin. When it happens early on, you can play catch up, it's a challenge. But when it happens on the last few laps, it's not fun.

From my experience, I've got a lot more hours in GT7 and I can honestly say the races are cleaner. Of course there's bad drivers in GT7 lol. Definitely had raced ruined the same way. But by and large, it's less. Can't say for why exactly.

@@GalactusTheDestroyer for me it's rare to get killed at the end of the race. If you're decently fast you'll drive around other decently fast guys at the front as long as you dont get taken out in the first few turns. So I either die in lap 1, or in the lap after I pit because I come up behind the rammers who don't know what pitting is.

I tried this race earlier on today but an unfortunate series of events caused me to come second to last. Basically I was rammed numerous times and in several other race's as well. I see you also got caught out by the rain so makes me feel better about it happening to me 😂

You lucky one, you had the chance for an excellent choice at this point. I was in such a race and it started raining just as i was turning in to the main straight ... having one lap on slicks in rain ahead.

Just discovered your channel - loving the Forza content - it’s somehow nicer to watch someone on KZbin in a scrap for a mid/low table place rather than winning it all the time, and seeing some corners that you took that weren’t perfect. Nice to see a KZbinr that has flaws in their driving style (I mean that with respect as although I’m probably a similar pace to you I can’t drive to save my life without the racing line on!). Fun race to watch. I used to be a rammer back in Forza Horizon 4, until I learned to play with all assists off. I'm not sure Forza Motorsports does the same thing, but in certain races in Horizon, certain assists, like ABS, get automatically turned off. I used to head towards the corner, and inadvertently lock the breaks and plow into someone. Sure some people are just jerks, but assists can really make you a crumby driver. In order to have good races, people have to learn that clean racing is best. So far, I've have pretty good luck with multiplayer races in the new motorsport game. Keep in mind that certain rammers may not even understand why it's happening. I haven't tested it yet, but in multiplayer races, some assists may be turned off that some newer players depend on without them even knowing.

Sometimes the weather will act a little bipolar and start raining, then suddenly stop, which happens irl too. It didn't turn out well in his case, but I'm pretty sure he was testing to see if it would be too wet to keep running slicks or if the rain would let up and he could continue without having to pit again.

this is why its hard to race in this game and try to actually care or take it seriously. It's like no matter that you're safety rating is high and your skill score is up there you still get stuck with people like this. Being on a wheel knowing that kids are probably on controller and get upset cause you pass them or if they get nudged slightly, they ram you in the wall. More than half the people who play this understand race craft or have any etiquette

I watched this one live during the stream, it was a cracking race. Does make you wonder why GT7 hasnt managed to produce races like this even after being out for over year and half now. Not only does FM have 7 times more daily races than GT7 they give us dynamic weather and day night cycles. Thanks for posting this one Rory, great to watch it again. "The Arrows" are orange when the person is close and have 3 tiers of orange brown the 3 tiers of greyish colors they start grey and will fill up to brown then slowly become orange as they get closer and when they full orange with brownish tips the other cars is really close...

As someone who is new to racing games and trying to learn manual shifting what gear should i be in when breaking for corners, first or second?

You usually aim for just around 3,000rpm before entering a corner. This is a *very* basic suggestion as it varies between every car. I suggest to study the horsepower/torque maps in the tuning section. This info will give you a better idea of what gear to be in during turns, looking to be in the rpm range where your torque curve starts to dip so you dont spin out in the turns.

Most slow corners you can use 2nd gear, sometimes 1st gives you more bite so there’s not a wrong answer. The higher the gear, the more stable the back end will be - less sliding = faster. If you prefer to use first gear in slow corners, short shift into 3rd coming out of the corner to minimise wheelspin.

That, plus it’s more accessible compared to other racing games like iRacing. Forza is available on console and doesn’t require a monthly subscription to play, and it’s much more beginner friendly, so you’re bound to come across players with different skill levels.

The game tends to unbind the buttons even after you save them multiple times so he probably doesn’t wanna deal with it. Had a similar problem with my wheel I would bind a look left and right button but then once a race started they would return to whatever default button they were before.

tcs, when implemented well in the game, actually makes u faster not slower. Older games have shitty tcs and abs thats implemented poorly so people turn them off cuz they get you slower lap times but in some newer games like ACC and im guessing FM8, they make lap times faster.

Don't think so, if u have A,B a or S sportmanship rating, as I had in GT sport, u get clean races all day, only newbies with a D or lower rating ram.
