Additional context from Estonian: - ANT (Nurhan) - Is actually Turkish who has lived in Estonia for past 6 years, he just won Eesti Otsib Superstaari (the Pop Idol format show) - same situation as Alika 2 years ago. Will be able to deliver, favourite on the wine mom vote, I would have preferred "Kui sind pole" instead but I'm not the target audience for that kind of a song - Elysa's song has been theorised to be about her husband (a rich businessman, insert sim card conspiracies here) cheating on her with an influencer, hence her being "the last to know" about it from gossip rags (happened last year) - Frants Tikerpuu has been involved in the past with Triin Niitoja's Laululind (2022) and MIA's Üks samm korraga (2023), but this is the start of his solo career in a different style - Nobody notices Tommy Cash's video is a homage to Andy Warhol Eating a Hamburger (seriously, look it up), we're all uncultured, he's gonna troll to the max - Tule does mean Come, in general google translate did alright in this video - Eesti Laulud does feel wrong, like before it was called Eurolaul (Eurosong) - just picking one song

Like I've already said in some comments elsewhere, I was a bit sceptical about Tommy Cash potentially representing us but now I really want him to win Eesti Laul. Espresso Macchiato is extremely catchy and fun, with some great lyrics and of course, I have really high hopes for the stage show. Tommy's creativity is amazing, the music video is just a pure art already. Of course, there are other songs that I absolutely love as well in the selection, like Külm and Tule, but I love them in another context. Absolutely loved his ''House of Glass'' two years ago, and this song is just as good. :) I expect Tommy Cash to win, and I'm okay with it, because it's also very fun and I expect a wild staging. My third is Ant. What a pretty ballad! I also really like Andrei Zevakin and Rapina Jack. Both very strong, creative, and both in Estonian, which is cool. Most of the line-up is at least solid. It's a strong selection.

It's "Laul" in singular probably because Estonia isn't sending to Eurovision several songs but only 1. Also it is probably a callback to "Eurolaul" with more emphasise on it being an Estonian entry that doesn't have to cater to Eurovision.
@daughterofnorthАй бұрын
Stereo Terror is indeed a Finland based duo that consist of Henry Uhlgren (who's mother is Estonian) and Saku Solin. They do DJ gigs together (I've mostly seen them on metal festivals and clubs), and play metal music that you can dance to on their gigs, like Electric Callboy etc. They started doing songs of their own two years ago, and Prty till the end of the world is obviously their newest own song. They admit in an interview that the song is a UMK reject. Heigo Anto, one of the songwriters, also has Finland's and Estonian's citizenships, so it's not like they just randomly decided to try Eesti Laul without any connection to Estonia though. They also have a music video for the song, I wonder why some Eurovision KZbinrs watch the still image while listening to the song instead of that? Saku Solin sings in a couple of other bands too, such as Fear of Domination and most notably very popular Finnish disco metal band Turmion Kätilöt. By the way, the latter published a new album this fall, in which there's also a song featuring Chris Harms from Lord of the Lost.

Why does the Stereo Terror breakdown remind me of the AOL dial up modem sound 😂 I started typing out a really long comment on your previous video, but got caught up and this video pops up! Im trying to listen to these songs with the mindset of them competing at Eurovision, and not what i'd enjoy listening to personally. Ant - 'Tomorrow Never Comes' really reminds me of 'Break A Broken Heart' by Andrew Lambrou. It has those long sweeping vocal moments that add just enough emotion and momentum to keep it interesting, but its very pleasant but mid table. I like An-Marlen 'Külm' because its so fresh, polished and trance, but its not for Eurovision. I do like the Felin song, and its in the wheelhouse of a song i loved from Eesti Laul last year.....Anet Vaikmaa's 'Serotonin', but 'Solo Anthem' is a bit too 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' for me. I could imagine this at Eurovision but it wouldnt do amazingly. The beat in Janek's 'Frozen' really reminds me of Isaac Sene's 'Kuuma Jäbä' from 2022, which was my favourite that year. It has a similar modern 80's vibe, but 'Frozen' is a little generic. I can already see the staging....which would be polished and modern like 'Dance You Off' by Benjamin Ingrosso, or 'Unforgettable' by Marcus & Martinus. The slow bulk of Elysa's 'The Last To Know' really reminds me so much of Laura Pöldvere's 'Heres Where I Draw The Line' from last year, but if it were a lot more upbeat. I dont really care for Tommy Cash's song, but that tells me its ideal for Eurovision! This would probably really elevate and light up the Eurovision stage because its so different, kitch and quite novel. It reminds me so much 'We No Speak Americano' by Yolanda Be Cool & DCup! Im personally enjoying Anna Sahlene for the very reason that this is schlager as hell haha. Its not for Eurovision at all as it would be left in the semi's. For me this years selection is much less interesting than last years selection, where i had a few favourites and a few downloads. For me, the obvious choice would be Tommy Cash, even though i honestly care very little for it. With some tittitvating and twiddling, this could be really elevated.
@ESCTomАй бұрын
yea last year was much stronger for me too, i had way more downloads Ill check out the Yolanda Be Cool song

1. Tule - I love this song! I don’t know why I think of Stefan’s Hope when listening to this, but I think this can make top 15 at Eurovision, some folk songs have done well previously. 2. Armageddon - love this one as well! The video is good, but if they get to Eurovision a lot will depend on their staging. 3. Espresso Macchiato - fun, will probably win, reminds me a lot of Uno. This one is polarizing, people will either love or hate it. Love the Andy Warhol references. I would be happy with any of my top 3 winning.

Supernova beating Eesti Laul was not on my bingo card. 3:53 They might be allergic to the letter a maybe? There isn't a single one in the name or title. 4:38 Maybe No rules mixed with Electric Callboy. I always think he's gonna sing "I'm gonna pump it better" (tbf, it's the only EC song I know, only because of the controversy of it being a NF reject, so I can't tell any similarities to We got the moves that others pointed out) 9:10 He's never appeared solo yet. 10:15 And before that, 2012 & 2013. No Estonian after that until this/last year (depends on how you count) 11:58 Nothing screams "Cold" more than the color blue, so it's fitting. 12:50 I preferred her song from 2022 (there are 7 returnees from 2022 in this line-up, almost half of the participants) 17:25 It was Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany (the vocalist) back in 2022, but she's joined them permanently now. We can also see her among the writers. 18:32 In the semi final, it wasn't among the jury favourites (qualifying in the second televote-only round instead), so the jury win came out of nowhere. 20:12 Well, we have Prty till the end of the world/Armageddon, Cold/Frozen and The last to know/I don't know you (Ma ei tea sind) Some connections there... 20:25 Blue is the color I associate Estonia with tbh. It's in their flag, after all. 23:35 His name is giving Windows95man 25:45 Finished 3rd behind Minimal Wind in 2022, and also 2nd in 2015 (there were only 2 songs in the superfinal back then) Speaking of 2022, Fire was my favourite of the NF season that year. 28:44 From one 2022 returnee to another. Though he went solo this time (just like Joelle, who was part of a girl group that same year) 31:45 This sounds like a song that competed in the most recent Sanremo. What's the random obsession with Italian in Estonia? After La forza in 2018, and their 2017 entry was named after an Italian city (Though German also pops up randomly, most recently in Wunderbar, and their 2008 entry included lines in German) 28:12 If it makes the final? There's only a final this time so they're all in it already 😄 38:25 Well, tbf, she also competed in 2022, so... And she was 4th, so the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place are all back.

Oh yeah, Lauri Hämäläinen is Finnish. His surname literally means, from a region in Finland called Häme (Tavastia). I don't know him or what his relationship with Estonia is. My personal favourites are: 1: Minimal wind 2: Ant 3. Andrei Zevakin ft Karita As an Estonian i am a little dissapointed though. Because i was kind of expecting something more i guess. These songs this year are in a kind of this same cathegory this year. I will actively be probably listening to about five songs i guess. Ususally there have been a lot more. But there are songs that i could imagine will grow on me. When i listened to Tommy Cash i initially didn´t like it at all but i have a feeling after the show i am gonna like it a lot more. It feels like it could grow with time. But Ant will definately be able to deliver this live. He won Estonian idol last year and he really sings this kind of "turkish melody falsetto" place in the song magically. Especially live. On the show he performed some songs in this kind of style so theres no worries there. If andrei and karita can pull their song off live then it could be cool. But since she doesn´t have stage experience it´s always a gamble. I would love it if minimal wind could win but i have a feeling that this year its between two acts. I think it´s between Ant and Tommy Cash. Ant because he is such such a good vocalist and he will deliver. And Estonians just love this kind of well sung vocal. And btw, this year there are no semi finals. There is only one final where 16 songs will perform.

I don't know if Espresso Macchiato is the best choice for Tommy Cash this year. Don't get me wrong it's catchy and it's fun (especially the music video) but its definitely not party. (Maybe Oktoberfest but not Party like Europapa and Cha cha cha. I think if it was a more party (and from the little I have seen he could definitely do it) he could have been a song that united fans that loved Käärijä, Joost or even Baby Lasagna in the last years, potentially being a candidate to win. Like this I think the result might be more similar to Windows95 man last year with maybe slightly more Jury but also less televote points than No Rules. Over all I liked this Selection, it's definitely more diverse soundwise than Albania.

A very weak selection in my opinion. Andrei's song is only one I have bothered to listen more than twice. Already upset that Tommy Cash is going to win. Really dont like his song

Get used to his song, since it's like drinking caffeine. Tommy's the best.

Is it me or it feels like many eurovision reviewers have become numb to just enjoying music with all their super deep "constructive" criticism and wanting to find the song that will win Eurovision. It used to be cool in the 10´s but its getting a bit old in the age that is all about the vibe and emotion. The formulas that worked before dont work anymore and not every National Final needs to be a marketing miracle with a lore that has heroes, villains. Regular Eurovision viewer doesnt care about all the META

True but no regular Eurovision viewer ends up in this corner of the internet

Joelle: seems to have a very good voice but the song doesn't do it for me. Ant: same as Joelle. Janek: sounds like a Swedish entry and that's not necessarily a compliment Elysa: the video is distracting. She's beautiful and the video keeps on putting her on display instead of enhancing the song. And the Swedish production is overwhelming. Tommy Cash: I would have appreciated it more if the pronunciation had been more correct. Even more if the song had evolved, developed in some way. Tule: very pleasant. Not a masterpiece but very nice to listen to.

Totally agree about Elysa. Her performance has no apparent connection to the song whatsoever

I’m wondering if Tom is straight or not. 🫣 Looks like Tom is uncomfortable with Elysa’s half naked look.

Gimlo is certainly mixed on this lineup, that's for sure 🫤 Doesn't really know how to feel about it

Stereo Terror sounds bit too much like Electric Callboy's "We Got The Moves"

Yep this was the first song I thought about. So many entries are trying so hard to get that EC vibe to Eurovision, but so far I yet have to hear a successful one.

Love the Andy Warhol references in the video. I would be happy with any of my top 3 winning.
