I own a 92 model with both inputs. I paid about $1500 for it in 1995. The screen has definitely faded over the years -- used to be better but even new, it did not have great contrast. I used it in the field for years and it was a life-saver. It has a special place in my heart, although I rarely even power it up nowadays.

Maaaaan, this take me back, as I was as Sales Engineer working for Fluke and Philips in the early '90s....and I remember the very first ScopeMeter at a sales conference at Philips... from memory, this was about 1990/1... this was the very first product that resulted from the Fluke and Philips alliance, that is why your example was made in Holland... it had one problem though... as our sales manager in Sydney found out... it is rugged, but the LCD screen could break, if the ScopeMeter fell on the screen.... memories....sad, Philips did make some good test equipment...

The oscilloscope department of Philips was acquired by Fluke in 1992. So I guess this model was manufactured during a transition period when the Philips brand was still in use. See also the comments Dave has responded to above, about the Philips OQ0308T chip and the service manual, which mentions the model name as both Fluke 93/95/97 and Philips PM93/95/97.

You can use regular BNC plugs on plastic sockets - the contact is on the inner sleeve

Not 50Hz. The intro video segment was shot with the shotgun mic. It picks up the aircon ducting noise in the ceiling from the adjacent offices. Goes up to about 220Hz or so IIRC,

I got an old 97 at work. Actually isn't that bad. Especially the display still looks much better. It's quite handy for measuring some +-5kV peaks from time to time. Even with the standard 800V x10 probes no problem at all. ;)

Greetings from The Netherlands! Made in Holland?? Had a WTF moment, didn't expect a Fluke product being made somewhere else then in the USA or maybe China. Cool! ^^

Because it was made by Phillips, not by Fluke. And Phillips is a Netherlands company

The service manual for the Fluke 93,95,97 shows schematics. The PCBs in my 95 I bought on eBay look identical to the 92 you show here. These were designed in the Netherlands by Philips who sold their test equipment business to Fluke. The older series has more buttons on the keypad and simpler single level context sensitive menus and looks quicker to use.

All BNC jacks are supposed to work like that, there is a sleeve inside the bayonet locking deal that makes the ground connection. The bayonet is only for holding it place, not for electrical connection.

on the chips you talk about at 11:51 and 12:38 the asic chips, you said one was for memory and one for display, is that why one says masic (the memory chip) and the other d-asic (the display chip) or is that just a coincidence?
@supersat
@supersat 11 жыл бұрын
One thing that I thought was kinda interesting was the PCB pass for the memory ICs. It looks like it's designed to work with ICs in a variety of form factors.

I have a 98b II from ebay... the 74hc74d chip(duel flip flop just below M-ASIC) has been bodged with jump wires, the one that concerns me, pin 11 clock input has been jumped to pin 14 vcc and there's a solder bridge to pin 13(async reset)... I cant find a manual for it either, but the 198 manual says the 12v inputs are for calibration...the boards are separated digital, and analogue with power... the 98 is designed for automotive repair, it even comes with its own simulator, which simulates outputs like o2 (oxygen) sensor, injection pulse, ignition signals, an rpm pickup, high tension ignition lead pickup etc etc...

Dave, I have a 97 Scopemeter and according to the manual the sample rate is 25 million samples-per-second, 40 ns glitch capture. I would imagine the unit you have should be similar.

Taking a wild guess here, but it looks as if the Phillips quad NAND gates are used as an oscillator for a charge pump, presumably to generate the (negative?) supply for the adjacent opamp. Not sure why it's labelled "RAM POWER LCD SUPPLY"... bias voltage perhaps?

My 97 uses Shielded BNC connectors, The connector on the Fluke 97 has a plastic outer ring so the probe connector must make ground at the inner part I know that sounds funny but.....LOL Wish I had a pic to show...

Hi! I have 97 and rigol 1052, and must say fluke is better with trigger. It catches very steady forms while rigol not ever time. And fluke have less inside noise. In some things it's better then rigol and 20 yrs older! You didn't notice, fluke have long distance washers on screws inside, making screws more elastic and thus more resistent to loosing!

So, I know it is a bit late for me to come to the party, but that 91 is very similar to my 97, which I think is an absolutely brilliant device. My 97 has about 8Mohm resistance from the multi-meter ground to the choke (as you demonstrated)... any thoughts on what might be sideways? Thanks,

NiMh batteries of known manufacturer. Third party ready made batteries on Ebay tend to be a crapshoot for cell origin and longevity can be all over the place. It's a shame you can't use your iwn batteries in modern Fluke gear.
