They only sell it with the monitor? Seems silly and would add greatly to the shipping costs if you are half way around the world. They must sell it without but just don't have the price listed...
@leestrickland6 жыл бұрын
That is impressive even before factoring in the working distance. Might need to scoot the Amscope/HDMI camera setup over for one of these!
@EEVblog26 жыл бұрын
I was impressed by the working distance of the focus, my Tagarno just isn't capable of tilting boards like that (especially at zoom) as it's focus range is limited. Let alone the focus zone feature.
@rasz6 жыл бұрын
all designed and manufactured in Australia, except -monitor -actual camera module -actual lens module -actual linux SoC module
@KX366 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but they put it in a black case with their logo on it so that's got to be worth $1000
@voltlog6 жыл бұрын
that is impressive, it seems like they looked at the tagarno microscope and said, f*ck that, we can make a better one for half the price and so they did!
@EEVblog26 жыл бұрын
They literally did, I spoke to the owner about it.
@p_mouse86766 жыл бұрын
VoltLog. Wonderful in a production line, but there are many ways to get similar quality for 1/10 to 1/2 of this price even. Asking just a little bit of creativity.
@voltlog6 жыл бұрын
Do you know any off the shelve camera + software that can do that zone of interest auto-focus thing? And is compatible with off the shelve magnification optics? I am not aware of such a setup existing..
@p_mouse86766 жыл бұрын
Not out of my head, but I have seen and worked with plenty of setups with macro camera's, lenses etc that worked just fine to find defects on PCB's Nowadays there is even a lot possible with just a decent smartphone. Maybe not the ultra "crisp and sharp" super HD quality, but more than good enough to work with. (and a smart person can probably make it equally good even) Just saying it for people or companies that don't have such a budget. Keep in mind that 1080 isn't that much to brag about anymore these days.
@rasz6 жыл бұрын
its not re-autofocusing, its following center box focus. this is ~50 lines with OpenCV. Checking for blurriness can be as trivial as compressing image and comparing size - less blurr = more detail = more information = bigger size. Or do it properly and run fft/laplacian. Its all basic stuff nowadays.

Wow, and to think because of you Dave I told the boss I needed a Tagarno. I guess now I need one of these! I'm pretty sure we spent about $10k for our Tagarno because of options/software. This is very impressive. You don't even need to qualify it with "for the money".
@DrakkarCalethiel6 жыл бұрын
That picture looks unreal, and with that price for only 1.8 grand this is a nobrainer if you want a high quallity PCB microscope. If it has a high longevity it will wipe the floor with the tagarno. Louis would love this one for sure!
@artisankatstudios79026 жыл бұрын
Awesome. I do very small carvings and this could be a great alternative to a stereo microscope. Really enjoying this second channel.
@EEVblog26 жыл бұрын
The 100 working distance might be plenty. But for curving type work I'd say look at the Mantis optical scope, no microscope eye or posture fatigue.
@userPrehistoricman6 жыл бұрын
Louis Rossmann would tell you that stereo microscopes are far better than mono or digital because you can tell depth. The purpose for a digital microscope is different to that of an optical one.
@rodrigomaero6 жыл бұрын
That's really cool, but for rework you really need a binocular microscope so you can maintain hand-eye coordination and get the depth perception
@Drew-Dastardly6 жыл бұрын
This is not the case for those of us with amblyopia. I think the lag is the biggest problem when dealing with microscopes to digital video, which is perhaps why specific monitors are provided with this kit?

One has to admit that tagarno was pretty solo in the field of mid range microscopes until today, so they could set the price! 1. i want a euro distributor for this thing! 2. expect tagarno to drop abit soon :)
@valerionappi78396 жыл бұрын
The andonstar adsm302 might not be so advanced in the features like this one but the image quality is just as good, and it's sold for a sixth of that price. May be worth to check it out. Sadly it doesn't have autofocus
@ToumalRakesh6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I just got the adsm302 myself and it's absolutely fantastic for the price, you can mount it in a close and a far position while the focus ring is still usable, and while it obviously doesn't have autofocus, the image quality is absolutely fantastic.

I don't get it, whats the difference between this and what Louis RossmanGroup's sells AmScope 7X-45X Simul-Focal Stereo Lockable Zoom Microscope on Dual Arm Boom Stand?
@Gameboygenius6 жыл бұрын
Don't know how serious the question was but some people prefer a purely optical microscope because it improves their hand eye coordination compared to looking at a screen.
@Limeayy6 жыл бұрын
oh okay, sorry. I'm not using sarcasm or trying to sell anything. I was really interested in whats better. The microscope purely would be the AmScope correct and the handeye coordination using a screen would be the Suba... because i feel like you have that mistaken that or i'm mistaken.
@Gameboygenius6 жыл бұрын
@@Limeayy the argument Louis used for an optical microscope (one where you look into an eyepiece) is that it's distraction free and that your field of vision is fixed, so it "feels" more like you're looking directly at the work you're doing.
@EEVblog26 жыл бұрын
Optical microscope are different to digital, they have different uses. This one is purely digital and has massive optical zoom and focus range for deep objects.

EEVblog2 I have one, for $1800+GST, it comes with a standard range Asus 1080p Full HD IPS panel monitor, not a 4K monitor! I forget the size, it's around 22 inch or something. $1500+GST option for no monitor. The captured images and movies are also 1080p.
@timmgiles6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely amazing. Just wish I didn't have so much import tax to pay
@Mr.Unacceptable6 жыл бұрын
The monitored scopes are horrible to work with for repairing or building up PCB's. Messes with hand coordination. I can see where they are better at some things. Like taking pictures. A DSLR with macro and a tripod does just as good and it's under 300.
