movies like this make me notice how so many people in Western media these days think 'grounded' means nobody can act heroically because people are just awful. This movie is full of very flawed people who act heroically but believably because they're not all just human garbage 'grounded' doesn't have to be depressing all the time

In regards to the turn time after a zombie bite, a real world example is the rabies virus in which the incubation period varies depending on how far the virus needs to travel in order to reach the brain. In other words it does make a difference if you are bitten in either the neck or that delectably delicious, sweet, soft and juicy plump thigh... or anywhere else for that matter. So the inconsistent turn time in this movie is hardly a flaw.
@lolbuster01

After recently watching Busan, Businessman gets on the train after betraying the Conductor is only a couple seconds before Protagonist, Daughter and Pregnant woman manage to get out from underneath the train and start running after the escape train. The guy who made the "sins" video doesn't quite seem to understand a lot of the scenes are happening in synchronies. Like he called Chad elbowing the zombie to save Daughter was a "Deus Ex Machina" where the escalators Chad and Pregnant woman were running from is literally in the same building not even 100 feet from where Daughter was. So its completely explicable, far from a "Deus Ex Machina". Plus. I noticed it with JLongbone covering Cinemasins Interview with a Vampire, and it happens again here multiple times. How is foreshadowing bad? You would think that the author/creator putting so much time and thought into something that they give the viewer nudges referring to things that are going to happen later in the film/book is a sign that the author/creator put a lot of attention to detail and thought behind the events. But apparently is just blanket "bad" to have foreshadowing? That's incredibly shortsighted.

3:53:40 Rags basically describes half the plot of Twain's Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, where unlike the cheesy child friendly versions that pop up a lot, this is a guy who's job is manufacturing firearms, and still has a revolver on him when he time travels. So he starts building rifles and cannons and even gatling guns. And it even takes the time to show that he has the knowledge not just in how to build a gun, but how to get the right kind of steel, and how to create gunpowder, both of which would be hard to get in that time frame. Shit gets wild.

The only flaw, a slight one, is that once they discover the zombies are passive or blinded in tbe tunnels darkness, they should have waited for night to fall before acting. Sound would still be an issue, but it would be an advantage.

1. I hate the old woman letting the zombies in to get revenge on people for not saving her sister. I get why she did it, but it just makes me hate her. 2. I honnestly don't get why, when they need to change trains, our characters all get out in the middle of the day. We know darkness makes zombies pathetically weak, protagonist knows this. Were I him, I would have gone for 2 scenarios: A/ Get out by myself, tell the others to remain in the wagon, run to find the conductor and tell him to wait for nightfall before changing trains. That way they can all easily and safely enter another train. Then once they start it up and it makes noise, they're all safely in the cabin anyway so no risk. B/ Wait for nightfall, and walk by night only all the way to busan. They must be most of the way there anyway, and considering how small Korea is it must be at most a week's journey. Travel at night when you're completely safe, take turns sleeping during the day. All you need is a bunch of rocks to throw in order to drive zombies away, assuming they get close. Instead they all get out during the day and start running to avoid the zombies. I don't get it at all. If anyone has an explanation, I'm happy to hear it.
@Birthday888
@Birthday888 2 жыл бұрын
Easy explanation that Mauler himself provides. Because communication has been cut off, there are going to be trains coming into the station and crashing into the trains already stopped. Therefore, waiting in the train is potential risk because another train could smash into the train they're staying inside. Additionally, at this point, the protagonists have no reason to assume that the zombies can escape from the train carriages they're trapped inside. Your B plan assumes that they could find a place to hole up in the middle of the day while travelling to Busan. That seems relatively hard considering Korea is pretty urbanized.
@whitehawk8211
@whitehawk8211 2 жыл бұрын
@@Birthday888 Hey, thanks for the reply. Tbh I didn't know there was another train coming. I won't rewatch the film, so I'll trust you on that and say that it's a good explanation as to why they leave during the day. As for the "Korea is urbanized' part, A lot of it yes. But aren't there a lot of fields and forests going by through the windows of the train? In fact (going from memory), the area next to their end goal is like one railroad surrounded by trees. I assume at this point leaving the station and walking 15 extra minutes would get them in the countryside (but I would need to check on Google map in which town they are exactly, to make sure). Still, I suppose a forest wouldn't be entirely safe, as we know animals can turn too. Still a lot safer than a city

2:33:59 this part annoyed me cuz it was the only real flaw I could find in the film. It is just a contrivance, but it allows the rest of the film to happen How I would’ve done it is show the woman watching him, so we know it’s not a chance but she was waiting, and instead of having him turn, have someone call him over to ask about all the commotion that’s happening (due to the outbreak), which is much tighter and can give some more world building

My wife and I just watched this movie today. So much good here. Probably the best movie I've seen in years. But some parts at the end lost me. Like the old lady opening the car to kill everyone is insane and on top of that the people barricading the less dangerous door first is insanity. Like to me no level of paranoia can justify it.
@Birthday888
@Birthday888 3 жыл бұрын
Well, I think both scenarios make sense given the context. The people in the car essentially killed or are at least responsible for the death of the old lady's sister, out of their own paranoia. And in tense situations, people tend towards actions that preserve the status quo instead of disrupting it. At that point, they're not thinking logicaally, they just want to preserve their current situation for as long as possible because it means they're still alive. Plus, you don't need to barricade the doors for the zombies because all you have to do is block their line of sight (as far as they know, anyway). And the doors are partially translucent. The survivors don't have that limitation. Like people who commit suicide, are paranoid, or are being sucked into mob mentality aren't logical or reasonable.
@donttrustme6262
@donttrustme6262 2 жыл бұрын
them barricading the "wrong" side, is because the other side is dumb zombies that had no idea how to open a door, compared to the ones that they believe are infected by the virus who are smart enough to open doors and stuff.

Two of them has bats; just start pushing the zombie assholes back. As soon as there was a lull in the situation (when they realize the door was locked), more should've gone back to help. Their priorities should've immediately switched from finding a way forward to sealing the way back.

That buys you time to slow the zombies down, yes, but while that’s happening the door in front would be closed and then they’re all fucked. There were too many zombies at the door for them to be stopped, the door couldn’t be closed to do the newspaper trick on the zombies, and they would have just been overrun eventually by the literal dozens of zombies chasing them. Their best bet was to have “Chad” hold the door until they could get into the other safe compartment then have him run across and jump through the gap then slam the door on the zombies. It was a race against time and maybe staying behind to hold the door would have bought more time but then it would have just been a battle of attrition until the zombie got through the door. Once a zombie jammed their head in there even if you killed it you couldn’t necessarily close the door on the zombie who’s head is now jammed in the gap. that’s my thoughts at least. Plus yeah stress of the moment.

The original MauLer channel video is unavailable, presumably for copytism reasons, so it seems likely that this was the solution to that. Honestly the crew was being a bit unfair during the video covering. The movie is still fantastic, but a handful of the criticisms were valid - they were just mostly surface level and extremely minor ones - but everyone still refused to acknowledge and argue every single one instead of being more reasonable. Things like every baseball team zombie slowly standing and looking at the living member. Though it doesn't affect the actual plot and is just a cool aesthetic moment, it still doesn't really make sense. Same with stuff like the old woman zombie being calm and passive, and a few others. Just give him the smallest benefit of the doubt rather than defending the movie to a fault Found it funny the guy didn't mention my biggest problem with the movie though. Didn't make any sense that the zombies piled on each other while being dragged behind the train car. They are driven purely by the want to bite humans, and aren't intelligent enough to do anything other than run and throw themselves at them, to the point where they will bowl over each other in the rush to attack. Yet then they all suddenly decide together that they need to form a human chain and dive to grab onto each other instead of just focusing on the survivors. It doesn't matter in the end since they get knocked off in the end, but the whole sequence just is nonsensical and doesn't line up with the rest of the film
