If rumors are to be believed, the studio hired a TEAM of writers for season one. My best guess is that those writers understood story telling, but, since season one coast so much money, when season two came around they only retained the "lead writers" who, if you recall, admitted they wrote season 2 first. So the lead writers are clearly Fan-fic DEI hires who were there for reasons other than their skills. I'm an author myself, and even on my worst days I wouldn't create something this incoherent, narcissistic, or self indulgent. It's insulting.

For most of Season 2's faults, I at least took solace in the fact that Season 1 remained untouched. Nothing that happened in Season 2 hurt anything that happened in Season 1 until 'Blisters and Bedrock'. The flashback recontextualizes Vander and Silco's relationship and, by extension, Vi and Powder in their actions in Act 1 of season 1. In season 1, we're are given no indication whatsoever that Vander knew Vi and Powder's mother, at least not so close as to be the one who actually named Vi. I cannot believe Silco would've behaved as he did knowing who Vi and Powder were and their mother. This revelation irks me to no end.
@edgybravo4287Ай бұрын
Yeah, Vander and Silco being so close with the girls' parents is just bad writing tbh. There is no foreshadowing of it in any way from s1. It has to have been an afterthought and not part of their original scripts because it just really comes out of nowhere. If we are to believe Silco is that close with their mother there's no way he would have tried to kill the girls. Considering they are just kids and of someone he is close with whose done literally nothing bad to him. Also, he would have done basically whatever it took to get them away from Vander especially after Vander tried to kill him and knowing how dangerous Vander is... In episode 3 of s1 we see Silco finally show up and meet Vander and Benzo for the first time since their "fight" those guys did not look like they were "sorry" for what happened to Silco. They looked like they were pretty dead set on him being the bad guy and a piece of shit. Absolute just garbage tier writing I can't believe how many people like this kind of doodoo...

I have not played League in years for the sake of my mental wellbeing and stress. I LOVED the stories and lore for the game. The reveal of The Ruined King changed all of that. This horrifically corruptive and tragic figure, a King who drove his entire kingdom to destruction and undeath for the love of his Queen. A monstrous figure now bent on spreading it's evil slowly, the mist shrouding his undead abominations. All to reveal him to be a twink with a half-bare chiseled chest and boyband face. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I now feel the same way about what they've done to Viktor as I do about Viego. Arcane can burn for that alone. Never watched the show but now I hate it too.
@greschenglin-dz7wjАй бұрын
I mean Victor in S1 Arcane could still be the same way and it'd make sense for his LoL model to be buff. I mean, he's the Machine Herald. Nothing's stopping Arc S1 Viktor from becoming that. He had cancer, that's reason enough *to do it.* Heck, he even wanted to help the people in Zaun the same way LoL lore Viktor did. S2 shot that though. With a nuke.
@ephraimwinslowАй бұрын
K. There's all kinds of legitimate criticisms to levy against The Ruined King. But based on how VIEGO looks (y'know, his default skin)... WTF did you expect him to look like pre-Shadow Isles? Mickey Rourke? (He's a fantasy expy for ROMEO dude.)
@FireTalon24Ай бұрын
@ephraimwinslow I'm speaking from the perspective of before he was revealed. I expected a twisted, undead monstrosity like all the other Shadow Isle characters of the time. Hecarim, a ghostly conbination of knight and mount. Kalista, a ghostly warrior of vengeance who rips the lances she was pierced with from her back to pay back traitors of all stripes. Yorick, the monk with affinity for the dead who watched all his fellows succumb and witnessed the decay around him. But then they gave us that twink to appeal to China's playerbase who actively prefer attractive human characters rather than unique, more monstrous ones. And yes, I say that because a survey was done that came to that result.

@noriantiri9310Ай бұрын
@@greschenglin-dz7wj conceptually though the arcane herald is better than the machine herald. The machine herald serves no purpose in the broader universe, precisely because piltover and zaun already have mechanical augments to their own body without it. The whole character of Viktor is supposed to be a cautionnary tail about the dangers of transhumanism when pushed to its absolute limits, it's a way more focused interpretation on what Viktor should be. Beforethat theykept flip-flopping on wether he was supposed to be a hero or a villain, and he was also very cartoonish. The new one at least can be taken more seriously, and is better integrated into the whole narrative. It's also very fitting for Viktor to developp ultimately the sentiment that human freedom is an illusion, and people should be forcefully evolved. He had lived his whole life at the mercy of other powers, the worst being his disease. He has fought also all his life to actually remove the imperfections that condemned him to death and suffering. Once he had lost empathy for others, it would just make sense for him to try and turn everyone.

I don't care about the "well, people have different ways of coping" bs, it's awful writing. Yes, I'm still pointing this scene out because it still piss me off. Also the "no, it's not that there's world peace because Vi died, it's because her death made Piltover realized that the Arcane was dangerous" also opens a can of worms. First of all the arcane was already illegal, second it was already clear the strong classism of Piltover and how the people from Zaun are not welcome, so Vi's death wouldn't changed anything for them. Third, Powder would have gone completly crazy at knowing that she accidentally killed her sister so she still could have become Jinx. Fourth, Silco still wanted to take control of Zaun and Vender was still on his way, it wasn't just for revenge.
@tenoreyequetisАй бұрын
I don't think Vi suspected Jinx was gonna kill herself at all. She'd shown no signs of suicidal ideation, rather the opposite, before that when they were trying to rescue Vander. Jinx says she wants to "break the cycle" which is incredibly vague. HOWEVER. I also don't think they made that clear enough for the audience, and the timing / tonal whiplash with the sudden change in mood was pretty bad. It was way too rushed and needed breathing room before moving into the love scene.
@giulizpaviz6381Ай бұрын
@tenoreyequetis it was way too clear that Jinx was about to off herself. There were so many death flags in that scene. @tenoreyequetisАй бұрын
@@giulizpaviz6381 I mean, it's clear to the audience because we see everything. But think about what Vi sees: her sister acting normal, going to save their dad. Then Vi wakes up and goes to break Jinx out, only for Jinx to betray her, saying she wants to "break the cycle" and that Vi deserves to be happy with Caitlyn. When you look at Jinx's exact lines from that scene in isolation, to me that doesn't scream I'm going to off myself, and Vi would definitely not want to jump to that conclusion either. She probably just thinks Jinx betrayed her and she was wrong about her sister having changed for the better. I'm not arguing that the timing was bad though. And they really needed at least a few more lines of dialogue in between Vi realizing what Cait had done to them jumping on each other.

I have to stop her because I have a bad feeling about this" Any sane person would be dead worried about what was gonna happen (especially when you already know that this person is a time bomb) Vi punched a wall screaming meaning that she understood very well that Jinx was about to do something terrible, how else Vi interpret those moments?
