it works on all versions of the psp. you will need to update to firmware 5.03 for this to work however. In the description you will find all the filies necessary.

It varies from rom to rom. The snes used embedded chips on some carts to add additional graphical effects to the games. The roms that used these chips tend to run slower if at all on this emulator. you can increase the frameskip or try the gba port of the game in the gba emulator. yoshi island gba rom runs great.

I think N64 games can be emulated as long as you clock the CPU to run faster. Press select at the xmb menu and change the CPU game speed

Each file contains a read me to walk you through the install of each respective item. I figured making a video detailing the instructions for each file is redundant and unnecessary as the install is just a few drag and drops. As the read me files are simple enough.

I cant say for certain. Firmware 5.03 was released in late February of this year. So if the psp was manufactured before that then you should have firmware 5.03 or lower.

download and unzip the files found the description. each has a read me with instructions on how to install the files. with the exception of the psp firmware. Unzip the firmware update (EBOOT.PBP) into the following directory on the psp. \ PSP \ GAME \ UPDATE \ EBOOT.PBP.

You miss understood my last comment. The exploit on displayed in the video will not brick your psp. The firmware is factory and a temporary custom firmware is run from ram. You can use this exploit to employ a CFW enabler however that CAN possibly brick your psp. you also have to run an app to ensure that your psp is motherboard is compatible.

yes it will work on 3000 as well. The firmware is official sony 5.03. Once installed you can run the chickhen exploit. The exploit will let you install the emulators found in the description. you will need to find roms on your own however.

yes UMD still works. further this trick makes no permanent changes it runs a custom firmware in ram. If you do a reboot (hold down the power button until the system turns off completely) then turn it back on you restore the sony firmware. Once you want to run homebrew just load the tiff again.

Pretty cool vid! You should check out NJ's PSP emulators, if you haven't already... Neo-Geo, CPS1, CPS2 are all nearly perfect on the PSP. They even look great in 16:9 mode too. Nothing like a game of arcade perfect Final Fight, Street Fighter II, Strider, & Ghouls 'N Ghosts. :) I wish NJ would take over the FBA PSP project and make the Sega 16 stuff work at full speed. I am dying to play arcade perfect Golden Axe, Shinobi, Afterburner, & Space Harrier. Hell, if Sega would release it, I'd buy!

If you have a psp with firmware at or under 5.03 then then this trick works wonders and also saves you a few bucks. If you come across a umd that requires newer firmware then you lose this functionality. Then again you can use this exploit to install custom firmware which can fake newer official firmware letting you play the game with out losing the extras.

@kujo2041 the root folder is the base folder of your SD card. Its the first window you will see if you double slick the memory stick. So you just want to open the drive and drop the file in that very first directory.

since you updated your firmware past 5.03 you will need to employ another method to install homebrew on the system. If you have a psp 1000 or 2000 then buy a pandora battery. If you have a psp 3000 then you are out of luck.

Don't bother with trying to run N64 games, they're buggy and have terrible lag. Especially CBFD, even Everdrive 64 has problems running that game. The PS Vita can run SOME of them decent...at least Graphicly, but it has issues with Audio.

@ItzOnur this exploit is stored in system memory and makes no permanent changes. The perk is that there is very little change you can brick your psp using this. However if you shut off your system is clears the memory which means you have to run the exploit again. I rarely shut off my psp most of the time I just put it in standby.

the n64 is nor per-say more complex than the ps1 but more complex to the hardware in the psp, if that makes sense, psp was made to be able to run psx games and not to emulate n64 games. But you're point about the complexity and the overhead of hardware is indeed true.

You will need to run some form of exploit to utilize the emulators demoed in the video. Sony does not permit the install and execution of unlicensed homebrew software on their system.

Duck Hunt works well with a touch screen android device using the emulator nes.emu, You tap the ducks to shoot them. The PSP does not have a touch screen and the original game did not have gamepad support so duck hunt on the PSP will run but there is no way to interact with the game.

Last I checked you can get a DS flash cart for $20. A flashcart will let you emulate a number of systems on the NDS, but if you are looking to emulate snes, gba or psx then go with a PSP. The NDS can emulate the snes but not very well. I have two videos that demo emulators on an NDS.

you first need to update your firmware not to the newest version but to version 5.03. Then extract the files from the chickHen zip file to the psp as instructed by the included read me.

Mega Man x3 uses a special chip called the cx4 chip for special effects. the emulator has to emulate this in addition to the typical system hardware which is causing the hit on the framerate.

Plug your psp into the computer then go to the /PSP/GAMES/ foder and create a new folder named UPDATE (all caps). Place the EBOOT.PBP file you downloaded into the UPDATE folder. Then try to run the update again.

That's a shame. Someone should make a handheld that can run emulators so easy. I know there are NES, SNES handheld versions using their original games but those are hard to find and the games are still about 20-50 dollars a piece. A PSP should have the power to run an emulator and a game like Super Mario Bros. smoothly.

Whatever PSP it is, ChickHEN should work regardless. Just make sure if you do have a 3000 or get one, not to upgrade to 5.50 CFW

N64 Emulation is a bit buggy. Especially when you try to save or do a save sate. If the system crashes or you do a complete restart then just reactivate chickHEN by going to photos again. ChickHEN makes no permanent changes. it loads a custom firmware in ram. Once you do a restart (not standby) your psp is back to factory firmware untill you reactivate chickhen.

Yes in fact I find gba emulation to be superior to snes emulation on the psp. All gba roms I have attempted to run have played fine. This is not the case for snes roms.

The newest Daedalus N64 emulator(feb 2012) works pretty good. Except for Zelda you can really play every game. If you're high you can also play Zelda. But N64 should be piece of cake for the Vita, but to emulate anything on the vita you have to jailbreak it first. As far as i know that didnt happen by now.

@SeanAbesto this exploit only works with fimware 5.03. Once you upgrade past 5.03 you need to use a different exploit or buy a pandora battery. PSP will not let you downgrade the firmware.

Be sure you have placed the slim.tiff in the /PSP/PHOTO folder and not the /PHOTO folder. Also be sure you placed the h.bin file in the root directory. Which is the highest folder. so if your psp is connected as drive E: in windows. Then extract h.bin to E:/.
