I have the same setup, but I use Dawn Liquid dish soap and boiling water for about two hours. I use the clad for various purposes .My bank has a change machine no charge. I still have last year's clad and with what I dug up this year so far is about $1600.00

Hi Tony. I use a rock tumbler with gravel, CLR, vinegar, Dawn soap and water. Tumble for 2 hours. Never had a bank give me problems. Also the zinc penneys that are eaten into-after cleaning I donate them to McDonalds kids.

I literally just counted and rolled over $200 in clad I found in the last 2 months .Alaska soil is not friendly to coins (zinc) penny’s turn into top soil haha water and stiff brush and then right to the bank I’ve heard of lemon juice but the way you do it tony I’ll have to head to the local habit freight and pick up a tumbler.great tips in this video gl &hh

It only takes once to quit mixing pennies and other clad together. My first try with the TBC turned all the nickels, dimes and quarters red. If you run them through a coin star and get a Amazon gift card or buy groceries there is no percentage charge. I buy silver with a lot of my clad. But don't bother with the pennies. I usually coin star them and hand the ticket to the cashier at checkout. Anyway you look at it. It's free money 💰😎😁

Martin, I'm with you for the ecard, or buying silver with them, but with the crappy messed up Zincolns, my Wells Fargo bank will take them by the roll, marked "DAMAGED", pay me for them and then send them back to the mint to be destroyed!!!!!

Are the water and gravel not considered ingredients? Also, sure, the cleaner may be a dollar, but the tumbler, which is also needed for this method (so it actually takes TWO products to clean the coins), is about $50.

Do you not check for silver coins? 1964 back are silver. Then there are coins that are missing the mint mark in 44 and 36 on pennies which are worth a million. Double strike coins a worth a mint...

I've tried this before and its very risky. Be careful those chemicals can actually dissolve coins if left in even slightly too long. I once left metal in an half hour too long and much of the details disappeared. Another time i left one an hour too long and it ended up heavily pitted. It does work though but be careful not to soak it too long.

Since I am REALLY CHEAP, and don't want to spend $50 of my detecting clad on a tumbler, I use the bigger since Peter Pan peanut butter plastic jar, with some of those clear rounded stones you see in fish tanks or turtle tanks or wheverever, and I put in a squirt of CLR or similar cleaner (your stuff should work just fine too) and a little hot water and I shake the hell out of them. Rather labor intensive I know, but I do this 3 times, rinsing each time, and they look close to your results. Maybe though, someday I'll spring for a tumbler.....lol Thanks for the video. Hello. We are thinking about getting into detecting. We are starting to watch your videos. We are not going to start with an expensive detector yet, as we need to learn first. But do you find old coins that make you some kind of money? I know it a Hobbie, but you should be able to make something

I save all my coins every year you be surprise how it add up after 5 or 10 years . I use the money to buy some of my other detecting stuff also bought a new $3,000.00 tumpet, computer stuff, got some more detecting money put away for a bicycle so I don`t have to use my car all the time for detecting. Since I retired from work I have never got the flew in the last 11 years. This hobby is great for saving up extra money. I don`t have to spent my retirement money on thoses things. Only thing i hate about this hobby is trying to clean coins so they have a good shine to them when I cash them in at the bank. I am still saving up more detecting money for a new detector but not sure what the best all around detector to buy. Might get a fisher f75 ltd or a teknetics t2 , they seem to run for 35 hours on only 4 batterys. Right now I have a minelab detector found lots of coins with it, but its starting to show signs of old age not working as good as it use to but it will do for now. The coins I find are all canadian so i don`t really find silver coins out this way in b.c. Thanks for the information

I find between 400 to around 600 dollars a year in coins. I clean them & keep the good ones & throw the bad ones away in the trash. then I roll them up & cash them in at the bank & put the paper money away each year. after about 5 or 6 years i would have around 4 to 5 thousand dollars saved up. I will use that money for maybe a new computer or a new metal detector or other metal detecting things i might need, like a nimh battery recharger & batterys sometimes. Right now in the last 9 years of detecting i have saved up 7 thousand dollars & plan on buying a bicycle to get around the city for metal detecting. Thinking of giving up my car, cost too much to operate it,, cheaper for a bike to ride around in the city. I do need to get my hart in better shape since i am at that 70 year old age if you know what I mean.

Is a clad cent with environmental damage, found in a school field, worth a $100?
@scotts1356
@scotts1356 2 жыл бұрын
@@5280Adventures Yes, it very well could be! It could be worth thousands. You need to tell your viewers that they should check the dates on all coins, prior to cleaning them. Cleaning a coin, can drop their value down to almost nothing. Maybe you should check out some videos on youtube about cleaning coins. I found a 1932 D quarter and cleaned it. It WAS worth about $120 when I found it, in it's "original" shape in the sand. After I cleaned it, it dropped to $12. That's a $118 loss! There's nothing wrong with cleaning coins to make them look "nice." But I wouldn't clean ANY coin without first googling it and finding out it's value. Just my two "cents"
