Hunting and trapping wolves has always been and will continue to be a controversial topic. You either love it or hate it and very few people fall in between. Follow this trapper on his trapline and the final day of pulling the wolf snares. #trapping #trappingwolves #wolves, #wolf, #trapline, #trapper

Thanks. I’ve been holding off on telling the story. It happened about 7 yrs ago when Pacer was only 3yrs old. The students I take out have heard about it because they love Pacer so they want to know his part in it 😂, so I tell it over and over. I just haven’t put it on video.

The Bears are definitely starting to move. Absolutely nothing wrong with thinning out the wolf packs. definitely going to help with the deer and moose population. Looking forward to your beaver traping videos.

Yes, we are on the same page. The wolf population will never be in jeopardy especially since I’m only trapping about 20 % of my trapline. I’m excited to switch over to beaver trapping but with the lack of snow, water levels are already extremely low. I won’t be opening as many dams as I normally would.

The biggest problem with people that are against wolfing is most people believe everything they have seen on Disney and not the truth. Great video and Great Channel. Thanks for taking us along.

You are so correct. I don’t try to influence my students one way or the other, I just try to provide them with facts and let them choose. However even the ones that don’t like the idea of trapping get soooo excited when they see a critter in the trap and then get to touch it. Many dont like the skinning until they actually try it and then want to do more. It’s very cool to watch. Thanks for your support!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m still pretty new to the trapping profession and learning as I go, and just sharing my experiences and trying to teach the students some basics, but more importantly trying to give them a unique outdoor experience.

Love the Border Collie. It still blows my mind the large predator animals you can hunt and trap over there. All the haters have no idea how conservation works with predator/prey management.

No they don’t. Mostly because they are uneducated, so it’s nice to get kids out to explain to them what really goes on in nature. We often get parents joining as well.

I’ve only seen a few. They keep themselves out of site during the day pretty good. However the tracks and sign and game cam footage shows just how many are out there!

Good wrap up video. Just one thing to clear up is here in Alberta we can’t trap bear only hunt them. Saskatchewan trappers are now allowed to foot snare and hunt them.

Thank you for the clarification. A perfect example of why I would not comment on that on someone else’s video. Can you bait bear to hunt? We can’t, but can put out salt licks and feed for moose/deer. I knew some Provinces can trap bear. Again thanks for clarifying 👍🏼

Yes, we can bait black bears in certain areas.

Congratulations on a great year , your doing a great job with the kids. Wolf trapping is very emotional , were down to a 45 day season here in Mont. not sure what the 24/25 season will be. Good Luck !

Wow 45 days is very short! We do have the luxury of a long season that’s for sure. Thanks for watching!

We just lost 4 months of our season due to the potential of a grizzly bear being trapped. We have had pretty much wide open seasons now for a while and our grizzly bear numbers continue to grow and I know of none that have been trapped. So now we lose ground on our wolf numbers just when we had things flattened out. Our elk numbers in the north are terrible, along with the moose.

I just watched Muskrat Outdoor KZbin channel and he just posted 2 videos about this. I actually filmed some comments about it on this video but decided to not post it. We have lots of bears and grizzlies as well and they have eliminated the grizzly hunt here.

Good for you another good one buddy. . What’s your preferred snare diameter for wolfs just curious . Also do you have a snare building video ? Keep up good work
@deadpinecollective
@deadpinecollective 5 ай бұрын
I buy my snares pre made from a local trapper. I’m not exactly sure the diameter. I’ve watched one of the best wolf trappers out of Alberta on Trapping Inc TV and he makes his loops quite large. I think the key is how far off the ground, just below knee height. The size depends on what I’m hanging it off of so it varies. Thanks for watching!
