Cornering forces also cause the tire tread to deform. Running negative camber allows the tread to deform into a better contact pattern. There is certainly some complex vehicle dynamics in play, but as most people are not engineers this is a fantastic video. Well done

Last time I watched your video you were explaining how you were slowing down your utube channel because you had purchased or involved in a nut or fruit farm in California ,it was at that time unstopped following you . I found your video tonight on my iPad as it was a suggested watch I enjoyed the camber explanations you gave as I did not understand camber prior to watching your video I see that you have over 1 million subscribers 🎉something to be proud about! You deserve success as you are one of the better mechanical educators on you tube imo I just resubscribed to you

I definitely want the DIY alignment. I can’t find an alignment guy in my area to adjust my car because I’ve added full adjustment to it that it didn’t have from factory. Gears and Gasoline shows you how to do it at home but they use a lift and a lot of expensive fixtures. I’m curious how a do-it-yourselfer would do it. 😂

Very well explained. Have you ever changed a ball joint or tie rod end to find out the after market part is not exactly the same size so your steering alignments are off after the replacement? Not a problem with the tie rod ends since the toe is always adjustable. But can can be a problem when you change the ball joint since the camber is not always adjustable.
@myRatchets
@myRatchets 2 жыл бұрын
yes the tie rod is ok but I always match the parts in size before putting them on. If they don't match I get another one.

@@myRatchets I live in Iceland and we have limited access to spare parts, few parts shops and not all of them carry the parts for the vehicle you are working on. Even the dealerships and distributors don't have parts in stock. So if the car has to be repaired immediately you will have to use the part you have until you can order a proper fitting one.

If you're suspension is tight and your stabilizer links aren't good shape there is very little tire roll when you have neutral camber. As for a daily driver you always want to have neutral camber

When I was a kid, I always wondered on the huge positive camber on empty Tatra 148 trucks. I knew the reason, when the truck is carrying a load, the camber would get closer to neutral, but the large size of the camber was always somewhat surprising to me. It looked like a man walking strange because his shoes were way too small :).

Funny thing is they will have a higher top speed due to less tire drag if they ever get there without losing control, but they are indeed killing their acceleration.

I recently installed a front strut tower brace bar to my Camry 2002 2AZ-FE and noticed better handling and reduced backslash on the steering wheel. Since I installed the front strut tower brace when the brace bar and engine are both cold, I wonder if the brace bar will expand after heating up during driving and hence will reduce the negative camber angle at the front wheel. Should we re-install the front strut tower brace bar when everything is will warmed up to a steady state, say, 20 to 30 minutes, of driving ? The re-installation steps are as easy as loosening the brace bar mounting nuts after being driven for 30 minutes and tightening them back to torque spec again.

Hey man so i went to get an alignment and my left side camber was off i have a 2017 ram 1500 sport with bilstein 5100 leveling struts took it up about 2" in the front thats it, when i went to get it alignment my left was at 4.4 on the red, and right was at 3.8 on the green when my wife brought it back the shop the left is a at 4.4 in the red and right at 4.6 red so they are both out of camber, the shop said that is fine that the numbers dont matter its the distance between the 2 that matters, i have 35x11.50 tires in it and its leveld at 2", had extended travel cv axels and zone ucas he said if i want it back on the green id have to take all that out and go back stock. Is this true or should I be concerned
